An emerging high-tech mobile phone
manufacturing giant, Akyumen Technologies
Corporation has given the Nigerian business
environment a clean bill of health inspite of the
current economic challenges facing the country.
The United States-based company which is at
present exploring ways to establish base in the
country, disagreed with the notion that foreign
firms are scared of coming to invest in Nigeria
due to the economic down-turn.

Rather, the 32-year old Chief Executive described
those pulling out or those who are afraid to
operate in the country as not being fair or
probably may have been in the business of
shortchanging Nigerians.
Speaking on the company’s plan to introduce
various ranges of telecommunication products
into the country’s market, the Chief Executive of
the firm, Aasim Saied said some of the devices
can be used to improve learning and to empower
the young ones with useful skills.
“We want to create jobs in any country that we
go and we also want to train personnel in the
highest possible customer service expertise so
that they can be at home with the technology we
offer.”
He said the firm will introduce 50 per cent
subsidy for students in selected primary and
secondary schools in the country as part of its
social responsibility to support education which
they benefited from.
He said currently Akyumen Technologies is
partnering 25 universities and colleges all over
the world in the use of its innovative devices for
academic exploits. Akyumen Technologies
started up in the state of California, United
States of America.
“We are a company with great commitment to
our social responsibility. In addition to creation
of jobs, we will also want to encourage a lot of
start-up businesses. One of the things that we
intend to do is to install our computers in
educational institutions in the country.”
We are in the process of setting up offices in
Nigeria, either Lagos or Abuja.
“In line with our desire to establish base in
Africa, we are going to set up our headquarters
in either Lagos or Abuja and arrangements to
that effect is being perfected,” he said.
On the issue of local content, he said the
company is going create a lot of local jobs by
allowing more local content in the devices.
According to him, although most of the
components of the mobile phones and other
devices are at the moment going to be imported,
but that there will a lot of local inputs in area of
content creation for the computer applications
and software development.
Speaking on the possibility of partnering various
sectors of the economy, he said there are huge
opportunities to be tapped in collaborating with
Nollywood film industry. He said Akyumen has a
lot to offer to the local film industry in the area
of application of latest technology to improve the
content and knowledge of the professionals in
the industry.
Unlike the practice where some foreign
companies try to turn Nigeria into a dumping
ground for their finished goods, the US firm said
they are here to stay in the country to do more
business and also to empower more
entrepreneurial development.

I never said it's something bad , my point is that they are trying to take advantage of the nigeria situation , which is why is called business for there own gains by employing people wit cheap labour considering the recent xchange rate... This is the same reason why China is where it is today , they devalued there currency to attract investment ..

Why would not business be good as Naira have crashed to almost tissue paper?
All that the US Firm need is to gets Dollar from home at official rate, and pump it to Nigeria. Even getting Dollar at official rate in US and selling in Nigeria only is a brisk business. Who knows whether this might be the good business.

it favours foreign firms as 1$ is more than 450 naira, when they bring small dollars to Nigeria it makes it looks big when exchange.

what 3000$ cannot buy three years ago will buy that product times 3.

It is not that simple. Has petrol remained same price as 3 years ago? No.

What about raw material prices, local & imported? All gone up.
With fall in value of the Naira, inflation comes too.

Just like the bag of rice you bought 3 years ago for under 8k is now over 20k. So have other prices.

It looks big as you said. But it can afford little.

It's only the hardworking, creatives and innovatives that can gain from this times. Naturally so many Nigerians are used to free monies, collect wages they do not work for. So when all these stopped they resulted into blackmailing the government and complaining forgetting they have the opportunity to make wealth.

Some spends all their 24 hrs on social media wasting their lives, not working and still complaining no food.

But while they are busy complaining everywhere on all the social media, some are smiling to the banks.
The truth is, there are business opportunities in every economic period (uptimes & downtimes) it takes those that can think deeply and are hardworking to take charge.

God bless u sir, u nail it. We are so used to free money, billionaires without inventing anything, over night millionaires full every where before now. Thank God for Sanity, God bless Pmb.

American Technology Company introduces Projector Phones in Ghana \

http://thevoicelessonline.com/american-technology-company-introduces-projector-phones-in-ghana/

In American mobile technology company, Akyumen Technologies, has introduced projector mobile phones onto the Ghanaian market.

These devices will be able to afford the average businessman, students and management of organizations the opportunities to conduct presentations with just the click of a button on the mobile phone.

Ghanaian Graduates Must Arise

On August 1, 2016 the Daily Graphic reported President Mahama was at the eight congregation of the University of Professional Studies (UPSA) in Accra, and charged graduates of tertiary institutions to think “outside the box” by exploring the many job creation and business opportunities in the country. He said in order to become innovative and productive, graduates should make effective use of the knowledge and skills they have acquired to become independent citizens. Moreover, he added that by becoming independent and productive through innovative thinking, the youth, especially graduates, would become less dependent on government for jobs.

Recently, I read about the projector-phone, a cell phone with a built-in projector called the Hawk which can be used to make calls, watch movies, television shows and do business presentations using the projector and the flash.

What fascinated me about this device was what the inventor, Aasim Saied, the Chief Executive Officer of Akyumen Technologies Corporation in the United States said in an interview. When asked about what inspired him to produce the device, he stated: “I came up with the idea when I was still in college (in 2004) in the United States. My college professor was tinkering with a big projector in the classroom. So I was thinking; how about putting a projector in a smartphone so you will be able to make presentations anywhere you are?”

In 2008, he realized his dream by making a projector-phone. Here is the conclusion to that interview mentioned above: “We decided that we can form a company based on this, and then we can literally go to the market with it.”

Indeed, there are reported stories of young people around the world who began businesses during their university days or right after school. These were brave young people who through innovative thinking developed ideas and followed them through to the end.

Microsoft and Dell computers are hugely successful billion-dollar businesses that have become household names. Microsoft, built by the world’s richest man, Bill Gates, and Dell Computers by Michael Dell. Dell and Gates both began these corporations from their youth as either graduates or as drop outs.

and it looks like he may have roots in India.

CEO of Akyumen Technologies, Aasim Saied making a demonstration

Speaking to Joy Business during the outdooring ceremony on Thursday, April 27, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Akyumen Technologies, Aasim Saied says the devices have the potential to enhance business operations and education.

first let's use your bag of rice example..
at 1$ = 150 naira
8k naira rice would cost 8000/150 = 53 33 $

2016
at 20000K the price of rice, and dollar 450naira against a dollar

20000/450 = 44.44 $... that's a 10$ profit..

back to this topic,
the hoarding of goods and services is directly proportional to the exchange rate in some cases, but the growth rate of prices of goods isn't fixed, for instance some goods remain the same despite the change in exchange rates.
good like
Gala,
Transportation,
NEPA bills
etc..
this makes it favourable to the foreigners.

since the inflation rate of goods isn't fixed then it favours those abroad.
