Your htc m8 will work with ntel if you set LTE only.

Lol,

You don't need to do *#*#info#*#* to enjoy ETISALAT LTE.

You even need to change you son card.

That why I said NTEL might Lose the LTE battle.

Like i told you in the past, your lack of understanding of how these things work is your problem.

ntel, just like Smile and Spectranet, is a 4G LTE Only network. That is, it doesn't support any other network type like 3G or 2G. That is why you may have to force it on LTE Only mode. Same applies to Smile too, and most likely Spectranet also. I've never used Spectranet, so i wouldn't know for sure. But that's how Smile works too on phone.

You claimed ntel doesn't work on Htc One M8, but i have personally used it on both htc one m8 and m9, so obviously, you are the one doing something wrong.

You are right. They need to have flexible plans. It's not everyone that needs unlimited. On the long run, they'll lose out completely if they continue with those 3 data plans only.

That's not an edge ooo.... Its only for the first 3 month you get unlimited.... Then its will 90 GB thereafter....

MTN and the rest are just waiting to complete the project... The they slash data plan again... To match the 10k for 90GB....

Imagine MTN slash the modem price to 10K....... They have over 50M subscriber already....

I checked smile you get unlimited speed from 3k.... Thats not cool... 1k , 2k will give only 2Mbps... That was how spectranet started too you called 2 Mbps LTE ?? grin

They will loose out yet again.. only calls... You need VoLTE to make calls... See no time... GlO, MTN and Etisalat owns this Market....

You know what happened to Visafone.... Lol

That's an ignorant comment from you.

1. If NTEL don't require you force 4G LTE on Iphone and IPad. Why do you have to do it on Android.

2. You don't have to force 4g LTE on smile, once your device compatible you download the smile voice app.

3. Do you force 4GLTE on most MIFIs and modems sold in the market?

Most Mifi and modems sold in Nigeria supports 2g, 3G and 4g LTE that's why the can work with most GSM and LTE networks .

The best practices is for the network to support your phone and not you to start manipulating your phone to support the network.

Good luck

My brother they will all be knocked out of the market by the big players (MTN, GLO, ETISALAT).

Remember how this big players send the CDMA networks packing.

NTEL should be a big player, but thier network problems and stress is too much for the consumer market.
Hope TY Danjuma get better technical team from other telcos.

Some phones are configured to work with Ntel LTE bands by default, without any setup,, like Konka R2, for example. However, with some other phones that support the requisite 4G LTE bands, one has to configure it manually.

In essence, dustmalik is right.

Konka R2 wasn't configured for NTEL alone, it also works on ETISALAT and MTN.

Most devices sold by NTEL also works with other GSM and LTE networks.

APN setups, is the only configuration you need

I didn't state it was configured for Ntel, alone Please!!!

I stated that it was configured to work with Ntel 4G LTE bands by default. Meaning that the phone will automatically pick up any network operating on that frequency.

When I put my ntel Sim in Konka R2, it automatically picked up and displayed 4G LTE signal. But when I removed the Ntel Sim, and replaced it with MTN 4G LTE Sim, it didn't show until I manually set it to 4G LTE only.
I didn't do any APN setup!
And I am talking from experience!!! Just like dustmalik.

Try and see if you can turn off VoLTE provisional flag in Konka R2. U can't, without rooting. It's configured and fixed by default. Whereas with some other phones you could.

you're right, I don't know NTEL's motive in this market that even voice is not possible. I told them on twitter they are an elitist network, unfortunately they will lose out if the continue like this then we complain NITEL is dead again.

NTEL grossly underestimated the LTE market in Nigeria, with their Valuable National license.

Their only advantage is the VoLTE

But with market movers like GLO,MTN and ETISALAT in the mix.

They will need to do proper KPI and know how compete better

This thing is not the way you guys paint it.

The other networks aren't doing VoLTE too. they still carry voice via switch, not data.

meanwhile, factor in the reality that all that needs to happen to cure the voice problem is an application configured to their network specifically. which i think they have already. Smile has similar. its way cheaper too, and is where the market is heading.

Whatsapp/facebook calling etc are proof of this. What they need to do is encourage you to do the calls via their own service, or just forget about that and give you the data you will use to make the calls.

Already, international calls are like 300naira per minute to call nigeria from abroad, dunno the rates from Nigeria. Same calls via whatsapp will use maybe 40mb PER HOUR

Where do you think the market is heading in that scenario?

all you need for data calls are good servers. one big server farm will serve the entire country, with 1 or 2 redundancies in other places. Hell they might even decide not to locate the server in Nigeria at all!!

for switch calls you probably need to visit that MTN switch at Ojota to see the kind of equipment they need to maintain just to carry your calls and SMS, and they have that in almost every state.

So there really isn't the need to invest money in 2G/3G when those will be obsolete soon. in 5 yrs they will start turning off those 2G radios and repurpose the spectrum. Infact they already repurposed some of it.

You can't be planning strategy for such a business and be telling them to spend millions of dollars on switches.

so these aren't the issues

Their first problem is that coverage has not improved at all. i should know, i got a sim the week the sim cards landed in lagos. wink
they are not building out. The service is the same way its been 5 months ago.

maybe because of funds (this $ issue is not helping you know, if a mast used to cost 10 million before, it will cost like 70 million now..........)

Secondly, with all due respect to them, they seem to have very wack engineers. But hey, i'm sure if they read this thing they will have my head.
but my own experience with their network ehn cry cry cry cry cry cry

Thirdly, i don't know their rationale for expansion, but it kinda appears foolish to me that they have service at Ikotun, Egbeda and not at Ikeja. i was at oregun today, 0 bars.

i don't understand that type of thinking....... maybe they think ikotun people have more money or are more thirsty for data.
afterall, Etisalat increased data prices in the middle of price wars and a recession because they wanted to reduce the number of people subscribing to their network. cheesy cheesy cheesy

so..... boya i'm not knowledgeable enough

that is inevitable. You cannot compare a new service to one that has been on ground for over 10 yrs. It costs good money to build out networks. so this complaint is unfair.

if it was that easy, why haven't the other 4G networks covered more than their token lagos, port harcourt, abuja?

The issue is, are they improving the coverage? personally, i'd say no. You can't convince me 6 months is too short to cover half of lagos. they haven't covered a quarter of lagos.

Ntel is a data only service provider. their problem is that they received a universal license.

Your are wrong here.

NTEL being Nigeria's first National carriers, got lots of Licence to run Fixed, Mobile and International gateway networks. etc

Glo is the second National carrier, with the same set of Licence with NTEL.

MTN, ETISALAT and Airtel are just Mobile operators( their licence can't do LTE.)

That's why MTN bought Visafone(with LTE licence) and ETISALAT got another CDMA Telco with LTE license.

Based on Licensing, NTEL got more advantages than MTN, ETISALAT and AIRTEL

Also note NTEL is controls SAT3 in Nigeria.

The problem with NTEL is Management and Technical Team.

To me, the unlimited put them on the edge at the moment, why should a new service provider run on the same pace as the existing ones, with the same comparable prices as the existing ones, that would be a dead on arrival. So at the moment, 10k unlimited with a stable speed is a thumps up for me any day any time.

Data services in Nigeria with cap are not sincere, your 90GB is definitely going to run on a 45GB cap. So the unlimited still stands out.
