From what i have observed... Ibrahimovic should just play as a 10 since it seems he likes to play there and the coach doesn't like Mata much there. It would even make more sense as he can be receiving the West bromichesque lobbing we are now used to then bring it down and help Whoever we use in the wings kickstart our attacks. Rashford or martial should be left to develop their natural strikers instincts. All this Ibrahimovic as a striker is one big failed tactic and has to be stopped now so we can see what changes with Rashford or Martial up front... wings can be manned by Miki, young, depay or any of Rashford or Martial if they aren't striking. Carrick or Herrera with barber to barber Pogba and Ibra10... we need to shake tins up and make major changes

Lol!

You don dey mad! Where was Adritz that season?

Adritz had 16 goals and 8-9 assists that season. Suseata had 6 goals and 12 assists that season but your beloved Herrera could only managed 5 assists in how many starts?

Goan sleep!
You are a complete lunatic. And you call yourself a football fan with what you typed up there. That shows you know nothing about football.

Like I said earlier that it is the quality of the striker that determines the number of assists a number 10 gets which also depends on the way a team is set up to play.

Read carefully and make sure you comprehend my explanation because your thinking is always a one-way traffic and your deductive reasoning is so poor.

In 2011/12 season, Antonio Valencia had the hihghest assists for Man Utd with 13 and 4 goals. Nani also had 10 assists with 8 goals. I hope you understand this. If you don't take your time and read several time.

Now, did the two played as our number 10? Who played behind our striker in that season and how many assists did that player had then? I can give you a whole lot of instances like that.

I'm expecting answers to those question. I don't want your usual rhetorics.

Once again, you know nothing about football

Herrera didn't get dropped, he wasn't even a factor in Van gaal team. Action speaks louder than voice.

His action and Moyes's action showed that Herrera was the board decision. Same thing happened between Pep and Gotze.
Liar! Liar!! Liar!!! The more you try o cover your lies, the more your lies get exposed. Now, process the following and understand. Just like your god LVG will say "it's a process".

Your lies will be busted now.

These are the first 10 games of that season:

1st game - Aug 16 Man Utd v Swansea - Herrera played
2nd game - Aug 24 Sunderland v Man Utd - Herrera absent due to injury.
3rd game - Aug 30 Burnley v Man Utd - Herrera still out due to injury
4th game - Sept 14 Man Utd v QPR - Herrera played after his injury
5th game - Sept 21 Leicester v Man Utd - Herrera played
6th game - Sept 27 Man Utd v West Ham - Herrera played
7th game - Oct 5 Man Utd v Everton - Herrera dropped
8th game - Oct 20 WBA v Man Utd - Herrera played

Your lies have been busted, right?
We can now see that he got dropped and LVG made a public statement about why he dropped him.

Your lies have no rival.

The reality is the board gave Mourinho the power and backed him to bring the players he wanted but [b]Kante was never in his plan not until he saw the imminent Chelsea deal with Kante.[\b] That's who Mourinho is. The same man hijacked Willian from Spurs at the last minute. Same with Mikel and Pedro but his skimming sneatky move was too late with Kante..
That's a total nonsense from you there. William wasn't in his plan and he went ahead and play him very well that season. You definitely don't know what you are typing.

You are olodo rabata!

In 2011/12 fabregas had 8 assists

2012/13 he had 11 assists

2013/14 he had 12 assists

2014/15 he had 18 assists

2015/16 he had 7 assists

Tell me what happened to that stats despite him playing about 30 games or thereabout per season

And Kagawa only played 1 game under Van gaal.. More so, that game only ended in defeat as soon as he left injured, he was our best player before he got injured btw.
Let me also mention the fact that he forced his way into Moyes starting 11 before the season ended and was one of our best player during the period.
Why did LVG allow him to go if he so much valued him? Oh! I forgot that he didn't know he's a very good number 10 or centre midfielder. You are a dunce.

The question is can Fabregas play great in the no 10 role as well as the attacking central midfield, just as Kagawa? But all you did is spouting irrelevant shite!

Let me also remind you that Kagawa left for first team football seeing that the new big money signing, Mata was the preferred choice in his role.

He was dropped after 5/6 games, can you hear yourself?

Did you realise how many games the likes of Depay, Rojo, Schneiderlin played in spite of their average display before they were dropped?

If we hadn't been ravaged with Carrick and Fellaini injuries, he would have played little and it's no coincidence he found himself on the bench as soon as both players were fit. Did you think a Van gaal signing would have been quickly relegated to the bench by players just returning from injuries after few average early start? Continue in your delusion.

And regardless of whether he played Willian, Mikel or Pedro, the truth is they were hijacked by Mourinho. Furthermore, it was Willian who forced his way into Mourinho line-ups and not the other way round.

The problem is with Pogba's fee it's difficult to bench him. And if u guys win w/o him it'll really damage him more. Just saying.

Its not really about benching him. Its about rotating the squad. Andmore about taking him out of the firing line. Jose would never pick this team but this is a team fergie would have picked to shake things up for a big game after a few poor performances.

What is the evidence that Gaal was going to sign Kante?
We were highly linked with Kante before the season ended, especially after Van gaal vetoed Renato's move but as soon as Van gaal got sacked and Mourinho came in, all those Kante's news became subdued and it was all about Pogba..

The fact that Van gaal signed Morgan who's a similar player to Kante but quite average on the ball gives me the confidence he would likely go for a better ball playing one in Kante, considering the way he constantly hammered on the need for pace in the midfield and the fact that he wanted to sign Renato, another similar player until the last minute when he stopped the interest.

It wasn't a surprise that most news outlets linked us with Kante while Van gaal was still at United not until Mourinho came in and all the Kante news got quashed except for the time Kante deal with Chelsea was already in process and Mourinho wanted to hijack it. Even Kante said his deal was almost done with Chelsea at the time Mourinho gave him a call.
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Diademk07:
Also, don't forget we almost signed Arturo Vida, a pacey midfielder while Van gaal was still at United but his knee injuries stopped the whole move. There was also Renato whom Van gaal got interested in but later stopped his interest due to the large fees demanded by Benfica and subsequently, we had various news outlet linking us with Kante before Van gaal was sacked.

I'm quite sure we would have been Kante's second choice immediately after Arsenal snubbed him and he would have been here if Van gaal was still here whereas Mourinho wasted months chasing Pogba until he realised Kante's deal with Chelsea was almost done and he would likely strengthen Chelsea team hence, he wanted to hijack it.

TALKING POINTS: UNITED V CITY IN EFL CUP

The Manchester derby is always preceded by a concoction of talking points and this week is no different, with United and City preparing to square off in the EFL Cup. Here are five of the key topics and sub-plots that will underpin Wednesday’s Old Trafford blockbuster...

1: A STAGE TO BOUNCE BACK

Sunday's 4-0 defeat to Chelsea means United are now without a Premier League win in three matches, following the draws with Stoke City (1-1) and Liverpool (0-0). Jose Mourinho was particularly disappointed by the one-sided nature of the loss at Stamford Bridge and a positive result against City in the cup would help remedy that feeling, especially after losing the previous derby on 10 September.

Similarly, despite an impressive start to the season, City have not won in five matches across all competitions and the Blues would love a victory at Old Trafford to halt what has become an alarming run of results. Pep Guardiola's team also suffered a chastening 4-0 defeat of their own last Wednesday when they were comfortably dismantled by Barcelona at Camp Nou in the Champions League. Rarely have both teams headed into a derby in such wayward, inconsistent form.

2: TEAM SELECTION: GO STRONG OR ROTATE?
Mourinho made nine changes to his starting XI for United’s 3-1 win at Northampton Town in the previous round, but the boss may be tempted to name his strongest team on Wednesday with the stakes so high. He has won the competition three times in his career (2005, 2007, 2015) and will be determined to knock a rival out of the competition at this early stage, with a place in the quarter-finals up for grabs.

Meanwhile, Guardiola also rotated his squad for City's third-round triumph against Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium, naming a handful of youngsters with the likes of David Silva, Raheem Sterling and Sergio Aguero all watching from home. But what will the Catalan do at United? His choices will be fascinating.

3: BOTH TEAMS HAVE INJURIES
Eric Bailly is almost certainly unavailable for United after picking up a knee injury in the second half at Stamford Bridge, while Wayne Rooney is a question mark after missing that game with a muscle problem that he picked up in training last Friday. Henrikh Mkhitaryan, whose last game was the Manchester derby in September, is also working his way back to full fitness at the Aon Training Complex.

City are expected to be without star midfielder Kevin De Bruyne, England international Fabian Delph and ex-Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna, while experienced campaigner Pablo Zabaleta remains a doubt.

4: EXTRA TIME AND PENALTIES
United and City have met on 172 previous occasions, but never before has a competitive match between the pair gone to extra time or penalties. That is a distinct possibility this week because all EFL Cup ties must be decided on the night. So if you’re heading to Old Trafford, or just watching on television around the world, you might want to prepare yourself for what could be a long and potentially dramatic evening.

5: BRING ON THE NOISE

There’s always a heightened atmosphere surrounding the Manchester derby, yet there is something uniquely special about a one-off cup tie beneath the glow of the Old Trafford floodlights and Wednesday’s match has the potential to live long in the memory – just like the 2010 League Cup semi-finals.

We can confirm that City will have 7,857 supporters in the away end, which will be the East Stand second tier on this occasion, and that will certainly contribute to the noise levels. It's set to be a lively night.

RASHFORD DREAMS OF CITY GOAL AT HOME

Manchester United starlet Marcus Rashford might have an opportunity to score his "dream goal" when local neighbours and rivals Manchester City visit Old Trafford on Wednesday night.

The 18-year-old forward has scored 12 goals in his meteoric Reds career and that burgeoning tally includes a memorable winner in last season’s Premier League match at the Etihad Stadium.

However, while that finish is an unquestionable highlight of his short time in senior football, our Academy graduate longs to replicate that feeling on home soil against the blue-shirted foes.

Asked to name his dream goal in this month’s edition of Inside United magazine, Rashford says: "It would be a home goal against City, definitely! Scoring away was a massive moment as well for me, so I can only imagine what a home goal would be like."

Rashford's excellent finish against City last season was later nominated for the club's Goal Of The Season award and the scorer understandably has fond memories of the experience. "The game was quite an even one so it could have gone either way," Marcus explains in a wide-ranging interview.

“We were attacking and then they were attacking. They had a bit more of the ball but they weren’t really threatening us. There were two times before when I got on a one-v-one with him [Martin Demichelis] and he just nicked the ball off me. I knew what I needed to do the next time I got the ball so I did it.

“Then I was against the keeper [Joe Hart] and it was just about relaxing, composing myself and that was what I did. After it went in, the fans were too far away but it was a good feeling with everyone coming towards you. To win the game 1-0 as well, to hold out as a team was a good feeling.”

After scoring as a substitute at Northampton Town in the previous round of the EFL Cup, Rashford hopes to start against City as the Reds bid to reach the fifth round of the competition.
