Hi friends i barely know little or nothing about post graduate schools in USA, cos i never had interest. Now my big bro want me to come over for my MSC. My preffered course of study is medical physics, alternatively i continue with my discipline.
I am a physics graduate with a second class hons and GPA less than 3.00. i have been surfing information on admission application into schools in USA but all the requirements are satisfactory except for the minimal GPA of 3.00. i have never written any of the following before IELTS, TOEFL, MELAB, GRE etc. Are they compulsory?

I need your kind opinion. ASAP
Thanks
Best regards

Since you don't chase dollars am sure you are aware that a lot of people here or outside are chasing dollars and because the road is smooth for you doesn't mean we should ignore those that the road is not smooth for at all.

FG preached ONE Nigeria but they don't do ONE NIGERIA at all
A lot of people are chasing dollars, does not imply i should chase with them. cheesy

Everyone's life style can never be the same. Life is not so smooth for me yet, but with God, I am able to realize some of my dreams.

Hello, everyone. Please, I will like some answers to questions because I am a newbie in applying for scholarships and studying abroad, A friend gave me a link to this thread for unanswered questions and clarification. I am a graduate of English Language with a cgpa of 3.98 and from the information I got from my friend, to get an already paid for MA, all i need to do is write GRE, get a really good score and apply to tier B schools in the US, and then apply for assistantship. What I will like to know is how to convert my cgpa to the US one , best time to write GRE in order to meet applications for the earlier part of 2017. Thanks

Earlier part of 2017 is spring and you cant meet the deadline anymore. even for Fall 2017 which is August, the chances of you meeting that is 60%. before you start preparing for GRE, research schools, January / February will be here which is deadline for most school for admission. some school even have deadline for funding to be dec 15. so your best bet is spring 2018 or if you have the will and determination, you can meet fall 2016 deadline.

Sorry about your denial ........your friend should have been on nairaland ......if u really want something then u have to tap in resources that are available for you to learn and grow or you are doing a disservice to yourself ............ because the answers above let me be honest to you was very poor ... How can the only reason why u choose the school is because it is more affordable. There was so much more you could have talked about ... and then the next question again why didnt u go to kent you said the same thing .... The whole interview was not well done at all especially for a second timer .

Seriously any naija that wants US visa and has not read page to page on this thread ....well what can i say cry

Guys, please I need advice.

I went for a career fair 2 weeks after I resumed school & was invited for an interview by a governmental organization for an internship position. I went for the interview & just this morning, I have been asked to confirm my availability for this semester. Now, my fears are:

1) On this institution's site, they've called for applications for internship, but only from citizens of the country
2) I've only been in the states for three months, & when I was asked how long I've been in the states for, I evaded giving an actual answer & said "less than a year"

depending on your program there is nothing wrong with internship as long as it approved. , fits in the schedule and remains in status for you .........and also its based on how u perform at the interview and if they feel u are a good fit . should not matter if u been there only 3 months ....... . for example if u start in August for like MBA people start looking for internship opportunities immediately although the start date is usually in May the next year during summer holidays .

also if they say only US CItizen then no need ooo because even if u omit that fact before u enter they would check . ...referencing , background check and history .... most government jobs are guarded like that so focus your energy on the ones that dont have those restrictions

Hello All
I needed to pay for my sevis fee but I could not make the payment here due to western union is not currently operating in Nigeria.
I will appreciate if someone can assist me with the sevis payment outside Nigeria while I give him or her the equivalent in Naira.
The sevis fee is USD 200.
Thanks.

So firstly, an interview is not a job. You don't get a job until you actually get an offer in hand, and have passed background checks.

I was in your shoes too at some point. Go ahead and let them know you are available, IF you are (which I doubt). But make sure you don't fall out of status because of that one job. Worst case, you tell them to wait till the semester you're eligible for OPT (typically after two semesters), and if they can't..just keep in touch with them..you never know.

For the citizenship thing, lot of companies have that and still take in non-citizens. But if the job requires some secret clearance, don't bother.
I would still go through their interview process anyways to get a feel of what it's like even if they're not going to take you in because of your citizenship.
