Not really, with new innovations, the gaming community has now made it optional to play games in VR state.

A time will come when most correct games playable on the consoles would require vr

Just like how no exclusive is playable on the PS3.



When that happens, you would be forced to get a PSVR, but atleast at a subsidised rate.
