Just what kind of evidence can we all agree on to be a good evidence for the existence of a god? (This question is particularly for the atheist on here.) Whether it is a voice coming to you in your sleep (or perhaps when you are awake), a figure showing up in the sky and declaring 'itself' a god; Is it not subject to your own interpretation? |
| Re: Questions About Evidence? by SeunLanLege(m): 7:59am On Nov 03, 2016 |
Subjective evidence is not evidence. It's just misinterpreted occurrences that your mind has warped to support your belief system. |
| Re: Questions About Evidence? by Nobody: 9:30am On Nov 03, 2016 |
SeunLanLege:If that's the case, what kind of evidence can we then consider objective? I am an atheistic existentialist and can't do away with subjectivity. It is important for you to note that science is also, in a sense, subjective and we can't use it to test the claim for a god (in the sense theist define it). Moreover, it is subjective in its description and explanation of physical reality: It interprets data in a certain way but not another way. |
| Re: Questions About Evidence? by donnffd(m): 12:12pm On Nov 03, 2016 |
Julian08:I disagree, Science by definition is very objective, that's why it works, thats why it doesnt rely on authority or gut-feelings, on the contrary, it needs empirical data and experimentations also peer review and must be reproducible for it to hold or be qualified as science. The question of God's existence is an objective one, either there is a God or not, so if there is some evidence that clearly shows some intelligibility and highly unnatural, then we would have a very good case for the existence of God, so far so good, No such evidence has been found, so fingers crossed. |

Julian08:You should know that atheists contest the gods that have been defined ALREADY in books. With that being said, any serious magic will do, provided it can be replicated for the skeptics. |

Julian08:Here's one: Seun:Another one: If God exists, he knows exactly what he must do to convince every single human being of his existence. So why won't he do it? |

Julian08:God has to knock on my door and say, "hi, I am it/he/she god himself with the capital letter G" Then I will give it/he/she a quiz. Who created you? Why do you sit back and watch people die? Write an essay with 200 words on what you understand by the words, "unconditional love" Do you think loving someone unconditionally also includes threatening them with hell fire? Why have you not forgiven Satan since you are all forgiving? Why did you create Satan since you knew(you are supposed to be all knowing) it would be evil? Why did you creat evil? What happened to the dinosaurs? How come you are not god of Africa and only god of Israel or Saudi Arabia? Do you feel you are a failure since you destroyed the world and killed women and children in Sodom and Gomorrah because of sin and sin still exists? What style did you use on the night you impregnated Mary? Don't you think you need psychiatric evaluation and maybe go on medication? How many times a day do you mastrrbate since you watch so much porn daily? How many wraps of weed did you smoke to earn the title "the most high"? We can start from here ![]() |

jmoore, I am an atheist just in case that is not clear to you. I'm not asking for evidence to believe in a god, I wanted people shake off the idea of objectivity a bit. In addition, this is a thread for atheists and I think I made that clear enough from my post. Please take your nonsense somewhere else. |

With all these things I'm seeing on NAIRALAND and in NIGERIA as a whole, I am starting to envisage a rebirth of AFRICA and Nigeria especially. AN AFRICA WHEN HUMAN BEINGS ARE USING THEIR BRAINS AND NOT SUBJECTING THEMSELVES TO FALLACIES OF THE PEOPLE OF THE PAST AND THE DECEPTIONS OF THE POWERFUL PEOPLE OF THE PRESENT. NIGERIA KWENU ![]()
Deorum 21: 5-12 5. Now arise, prepare to publish the truth of the universe to all the world. For Otem has risen and all the prophets of Yeshua shall bow. They shall hear and they shall be cold in their hearts, for the time to scatter their powers has come. And they shall try their hypnotic power on the people again, but it shall not work, because all their sheep are fully at alert. 6. Now shall the people of the lands around Niger say, it is time to see if the priests of Nymphidis are true indeed. It is time to test the name of Faulkin to see if it is real or not. And they shall see the visions of Faulkin but they shall believe it no more. 7. Then shall they say, we have seen enough visions for more than a century, now it is time to see the manifestations. Then shall they gather the real lame people in the streets and the real blind people on the road and the amputees and the epileptics. 8. And they shall say, let us go to the sanctuary of Krish and to the synagogue of Jehoshua. Let us also visit the campground of Enorach and of Wilhelm. Let us forget not to visit the tabernacle of Daoud and the place of Suleman the homo who prophesies doom. Let us go to the gathering of Lazarus and the place of the black Daniel which is false. 9. And the people shall say, if these sick we bring to their sanctuaries are not cured of their diseases and healed of their lameness and blindness, then shall we depart from the camps of these prophets of Yahweh forever. And we shall hate them with everlasting hatred if they did not confess to us, saying, the people we put on the chairs as the lame in our displays are only paid to act according to our directives; And the people who declared that they had healing had only been paid to do so. And the people who fell down, rolling on the floor with loud voices had been hypnotised by us. 10. And the shame of the people who called themselves holy and are not shall be so grave. And all the lies of Eusebius, the father of liars shall be exposed and made known in all lands. 11. For truly I tell you, Eusebius is he who shall compile all the lies of Faulkin and shall bind it with a spell, saying, whoever shall rise to put my religion to shame, let him be suppressed. Shall he not confront the Otems with his swords to make them almost believe his threats? 12. But I say, no, it shall not take long before the Otems shall know who he really was. Eusebius, the friend of a murderer and a murderer himself also.
|

donnffd:You don't have to agree with me. All I want you to do is to think about it a bit. What I'm trying to stress, albeit indirectly, here is the subjectivity of the methodology of science. Delving partially into philosophy has made this open to me and I want other atheists to see this for themselves. If you are interested in the topic, we can set up a thread for that. |

Julian08:Can you explain in clear terms how the methodology of science can be subjective? |
