Funny enough, most Nollywood movies now are acted in Delta state - in Asaba, Igbuzor etc. precisely.

All it takes is to pick one Ada from these towns who speaks the dialect fluently to be the lead actress in the movie and a movie with good story line is shot. Same in Ikwerre LGA, Ndoni/ONELGA, Etche/Omuma LGA etc. too. Regardless of current ethnic opinions, many Adas in such villages would be very happy to be called on to feature in a Nollywood movie. Many people want to be famous. When we begin to have Igbo language movies such as Ada Ndoni, Ada Igbuzor, Ada Ikwerre, Ada Asaba, Ada Ika etc. which becomes hit movies and spread and watched all over Igbo-speaking areas, Igbo speakers outside SE would gradually begin to feel included and part of Nollywood, an Igbo empire and 3rd largest in the whole world, and to Igbos in general. Thus, Igbos could use Nollywood as one instrument of uniting all Igbo-speaking peoples again.

You are only talking of an ideal situation. Movie producers do not care about Igbo unity. They are looking for naira my brother.

However, you can venture into movie production and implement your ideas.

Not particularly true, although am not from anambra most part of igbolands don't find it difficult understanding themselves with the exception of some dialects in Ebonyi...They might not be able to speak that particular dialects but they hear and compehend them

My brother I tire for some people. Most Igbo communities understand each other very well. Dialects does not necessarily impede mutual intelligibility.

With the rise of Igbo language movies, many Igbo movies are being produced nowadays. The Igbo consciousness is returning and Igbo movie producers could extent their borders to these areas like I suggested, since Nollywood English movies are acted in some of these areas already: Asaba, Igbuzo etc.

FYI info though, i have spent the beta part of 22 years in Igala land and still counting. What do you make of Ibaji history assuming you are familiar with them?

Ok. Akpanya people majority Christians and 95% of the town speaks Igbo. However, a lot of Hausa muslims live in the area and the town being located in Kogi state where there is presence of Islam, Igbos who converted to Muslim migrate to live in the town as well, given the language similarity with the people and the religious freedom and acceptance in the place. Akpanya natives who speak Igbo are mostly Christians but Igbo muslims, who are migrants not natives, also live in the town due to Islamic religious acceptance in the town. You get now?

Ok. I understand it better now.

Thanks.
Re: Igbo Speaking Communities In Kogi State by Igboid: 7:19pm On Nov 04, 2016
By Igala history, the Igalamela people are Igbos by origin. They are not descendants of Abutu Ejeh. But today, they are all known as Igala people.

This has always been my suspicion.

I suspected that Igala people might have occupied a more Northern territory in the past, but were pushed southwards, where they met indigenous Igbo communities, whom they overpowered and assimilated, leaving traces of Igbo influence in the process.

Whenever you read the origin stories of communities in Igbo Etiti LGA of Enugu state like Aku, Ekwegbe etc, they all seem to believe they migrated to their present location from Igala, and that they were Igalas, while parallel Nshi origins there are muted.

But what I thought when I critically analyzed their stories was that these people were probably displaced from their original locations that could be in present Igalamela, Olamboro, Ibaji areas by the Igalas in the ancient time, while some of them stayed behind and assimilated as Igalas in those places( Igalamela, Olamboro, Ibaji).

You can read about the Igala stories of Igbo Etiti people here:
http://igboetiti..co.ke/2010/10/history-and-tradition-of-people-of-igbo.html?m=1
The problem is that Igbo communities consider it exotic to hype on perceived links with cultures outside Igboland, while non Igbo speaking communities with Igbo ancestries outside Igboland, consider it a political necessity to conceal whatever links they have with communities in Igboland.

As you can see, the fact that a lot of igbo communities are scattered in different geopolitical zones should tell you why a lot is wrong with Nigeria

and shut the F** up and do your research. you're so dumb.

how about you do your research and tell me exactly why there are Igbos communities in Kogi and why are they particularly close to the border of Kogi-Anambra??

I will not stoop so low to argue with you as it is really obvious that you are not only dumb but you are also a mannerless stark geographical illiterate.

That you come from Kogi state does not change the fact that some Igbo communities fell into the neighbouring states during state creations.
There are also some small number of Igala people in Anambra state and some radio stations in Anambra broadcast some programs in Igala language.

Their are strong igala influences in places like anambra oyi axis,in enugu we have igala and idoma infusion and some igala/idoma communities still speak these languages in enugu today,i know communities in nsukka area that are nupe and kwarra migrants, they are the reason why you have over 5000 Muslims in (ibagwa)nsukka axis today, while places like abia have strong ekoi influence, besides its wrong for people to say that some igbos migrated into kogi and benue states, the people you refer to as migrants in those states are actually in their ancestral homes but were cut out into those states during boundary demarcation.

For education purposes, this is trash, from the history of the odolu area you would discover that is was an igala general who resided in those areas that formed the make up of those villages, igala is the number one language undisputed especially in Akpanya.igbo is mostly a second language because most of the women married into those community are from enugu and environs this is so that brothers do not marry sister due to the close relationship of everybody and for closing since i know the aim behind this post. let me state that igala land has been reduced to a small state the igalas have once conquered more than half of present day igbo land ,there are many igala speaking tribes in igbo land from delta to anambra and so on .but is most me noted that by marriage the igalas have been made very close to the igbo so much so that the next highest King to the Atta Igala which is the ACHODU has igbo blood

bigfrancis21:
While much is known about the Igbo-speaking communities outside the SE, such as in Benue state (the Umuezekaoha people numbering over 300 villages), in Delta State (the Aniomas), Rivers state (Obigbos, Eches etc.), Akwa Ibom etc., very little is know about the Igbo-speaking communities in Kogi state especially in Ibaji and Igalamela/Odolu LGAs such as the Eke Avurugo community (which speaks Igbo as first language and Igala as second language). Going through the list of Kogi communities found here: http://xa.yimg.com/kq/groups/1249765/1645681001/name/Kogi+East+locailties+working+paper.doc,

one could find a handful of communities which strongly seem to be Igbo communities going by their names, despite the similarities between Igbo and Ibaji Igala names/words,: Ugwuebonyi, Ebokwe, Ozara, Amaeke, Amankpo, Amauwani camp, Amaokwu, Amadiefioha, Amaufulu, etc. all in Igalamela/Odolu LGA. The Odolu community in Igalamela/Odolu LGA is said to speak Igala as first language and the Nsukka Igbo dialect as second language. In Ibaji LGA, we can see some town names such as Nwajala, Umuoye, Ubulie-Umueze which are, most definitely, Igbo community names. One obvious distinguishing factor between Igbo language and Igala is the lack of 'z' in Igala alphabet which is present in Igbo, which possibly rules out an Igala origin for some towns such as Ozara, Umueze etc.

Akpanya is an Igbo-speaking community located deep in the heartland of Igala land. Very little is known about this town. About 95% of the people speak Igbo/are Igbo natives. The town also houses majority of Igbo muslims from Igboland.

Igalaland uses the 4 native Igbo calendar days of Eke, Oye, Afor and Nkwo which are Eke, Ede, Afor and Ukwor in Igala land.

Anyone residing in/close to these areas or living in Kogi to tell us what the situation is on ground?

PS: I have attached below snapshots from the document, highlighting the communities that strongly seem to be Igbo in origin. The ground is open for healthy discussion.
