This sort of arm chair journalism is what the chief of army staff warned against recently. It is clear this 'Premium Times' report is clearly a case of the Newspaper setting questions for itself and answering them!

Definitely no Nigerian Army officer was asked those questions!

May their souls rest in peace. Meanwhile, looters especially National Assembly members should also be trained on weapon handling and deploy them to war front, because they are the most beneficial of our Nation's wealth.
Originalsly:
From this report I don't believe getting T 72 tanks nor the Shilka guns would make much if a difference. BH is very mobile.... holding no territory... having no permanent base.... so of how much use would be the tanks against hit and run men on motorbikes and 4x4s? And yes...they should have long range guns but the ongoing hits on the military are close range... the way things are going if long range weapons are acquired BH would have them as well and they seem to use weapons more effectively.
As I see it... the military has no sound counter terrorist strategy and to make it worse.. it is obvious that there are high ranling BH sympathizers in the military feeding info to the terrorists. No weapons nor strategy can succeed if they are not fished out.
We buy warships instead of helicopter gunships.... a no brainer. The contract with the mercenaries should be renewed... they are BH worst nightmare.

I see. So the average career minded Nigerian soldier will put aside the official narrative and tell us the truth about what is going on?

Thank goodness some of us have brains and can read between the lines. It is obvious that whoever wrote this Premiumtimes article must have extensive background knowledge of what he writes about.

This article is the only narrative I've read that sheds more light on how a supposedly defeated and degraded Boko Haram can mount a daring daytime attack on the Nigerian Army's outpost.

One has to be on a special scale of delusion not to take it seriously.

Are we truly winning the war?

only God knows how demoralized these soldiers are right now. Losing a brave leader, whom they seemed to love, and also recall they recently lost 83 men to BH. Media houses aren't reporting true situations in NE.

Why hasn't this present govt procured any weapon? what have done with our defence budget?
Why did we withdraw the mercenaries.

Seems initial upper hands were GEJ's efforts; weapons he bought and mercenaries he put in place.
This govt needs to stop politics and fight BHTs holistically.

You're asking the right questions.
Since 1 year plus in office, this administration has not bought a single bullet. We keep hearing Gej bought fake weapons but which ones has Buhari bought ? None.
Some ignorant people say that it's a shame for Nigeria to hire mercenaries. That's so ignorant

I've always condemned the new government slogan of "we have technically defeated boko haram" coz it was obvious that Nigerian government and the army were only suppressing information on attacks by boko haram just to give the fake impression that they were winning the war while innocent people suffer and die in silence.

The government of the day claims no weapon was bought by the Jonathan administration probably what they've been using and are still using to fight the ongoing war are the pictures of weapons GEJ got artists to draw for the Nigerian army. We cant win this fight aiming at scoring cheap points or by slanders rather a fight in unity is all we need.

God bless the federal republic of Nigeria!

Withdrawal of mercenaries was SUDDEN? It's like this government does not do any cost-benefit analysis and have no idea of easing a process. This happened with TSA (seems out of point) but it summarizes how the government functions. A knee jack approach everytime.

From my point of view I think d NA is really dis advantaged in modern day warfare coventional combact tactics. They were trained and still used to archaic method of warfare. The ways and methods used to fight straight war is not d same when deal with a rag tag mobile guerillas . That is y d real significant victory d NA actually recorded again BK was with d aid of foreign mercenaries. The Merc have modern day knowledge of warfare and d were with night vision weapons. So dey were able to decimate BK within weeks, dat d arrogant proud Shekau was forced to cry for help. I'm very sure if d mercenaries had continued, BH would have been history by now

Insightful interview, pls I have said it time and again that there is no concrete plan by this administration to move this country forward. They can't tell me that the funds are not available, even if we have to take a million naira from each lawmaker in this country.
We need a leader with an entrepreneurial mindset. That is the way forward.

That long neck bloodthirsty boko.hari idiot up there is a disgrace to humanity and good conscience.

The evil wahabist agenda being pursued by their Sunni fellas is becoming clearer to discerning minds.

They keep sacrificing our innocent soldiers and turning blind eyes to their evil scheme in the NE.

And it shall never be well with their collaborators / saboteurs within the military who wants the BH attacks to continue indefinitely.

As for zombies....i can only pray for you guys...may you get deliverance from the wool over your eyes.
