Whoever says yoruba and Egun are same people doesn't have any knowledge of either tribes. The languages are totally different, even their names e. g Senami is a typical Egun name.

You lie. I am Awori. Awori is Yoruba. See your life? Eegun originally come from Badagry border area. Ilajes speak a Yoruba dialect so do Awori's. Awori dialect is pretty much Lagos Yoruba. Ijebu is actually closer linguistically to Ilaje. I have not been able to study Eegun however. It's a more complicated language

Yoruba is a race so as Igbo but you have people with various dialect in a race.
It's like saying Yoruba and ekiti people are fighting.

Oga please stop, not all are ignorant on this issue. The Eguns are quite distinct from yoruba, Egu is not a dialet its a tribe on its own. They live mostly on water and their main occupation is fishing . They owns some part of lagos .

The egun/ogu tribe are a cross-country tribe found in Benin republic and Nigeria. The ones on the Nigerian side, found in Lagos and Ogun states, are bilingual in Ogu and Yoruba. Many of them bear Yoruba first/middle names but they are not Yorubas.

Egun is not yoruba. They have a distinct language of their own that belongs to the fon language family of benin republic. Don't call them yorubas because those on the Nigerian side of the border speak yoruba as second language.

Wrong! At people saying that eeguns are not Yoruba .
We are Yoruba 100% only difference is we did not migrate from old oyo town or anywhere else. All eegun people still have their home town here.
The only difference I know is in intonation like they say Loole instead of Lole (go home) or
Maalo instead wa ma lo , Moomo instead of mi ko mo etc just double the vowel.
All Yoruba hairstyles are by egun people like shuku, shuku elelo, ologede, kojusoko , patewo, etc and of course the pioneers of skin bleaching they are the ones wink

If you go to our home town in cement and you tell one of my aunties that's she's not Yoruba she will slap you ni grin

Funny enough they are very sensitive about this issue .
