The attack looks like one that should get goals. Let us just be disciplined. Elderson needs to try his best to stop crosses. Slimani's major threat is in the air.

And also hope Onazi doesn't draw a lot of fouls which will result to freekicks and you know danm well Algerians are experts in set pieces. And as soon as Mikel starts misplacing passes he should be substituted.

Echiejile is my problem in that team, Mahrezzzzzz hhaaa, The hope nw is that Rohr is aware of it and i think he knows and work on how to neutralize the treat. But how can that be possible?

Elderson has the potential to have great games. He has done it before.

dis formation is a good formation dat plays to our strength but am not comfortable with echijile and iwobi on d flanks and I don't see why d young man is wasted there, we all know he is not a true winger. did man is a classic no 10, he is what we re looking for since d exit of okocha from dat position, and even for dis match in particular etebo would HV bn suited for dat role due to his strength and endless running up and down, he would help echijile deal with d rest of mahrez cos of his physique and stamina, unless etebo and iwobi will be interchanging positions which I hope to see, apart from dat d formation is d best we can offer at d moment, with d likes of ogu, musa, ighalo, and musa and even ideye. our bench is loaded with players with quality. goals shouldn't be a problem for dis team.

Iwobi plays as a side midfielder for Arsenal, specifically the left side, playing as a 10 is another thing. So where exactly did you see him playing as a 10?

Me make I no lie you ooo... With less than 6hrs to the game.... I am already feeling the tension.... Chaaaiiiii..... Super Eagles Fly! Score the goals! And make the Difference... smiley

Hmmm i feel you my brother.

If u feel this way for this game how would you feel ahead of that last game in Algiers if we need a win or draw to qualify especially if Algeria is still in the contest.

Just relax.

No be do or die. Win, draw or lose life continues. Besides we still have 4 games after this.

One thing i know abt this game is we will not lose. The worst is a draw. But i sincerely believe we can win the game as we have the slight edge of players form/fitness plus home advantage.

The Uyo fans need to play their part. They must ROAR at every of our attacking moves. That usually has a way of causing panic in the opponent's defense. They will be making wrong passes and clearing out balls out of panic into our own players grin I have seen things like that happen several times.

He is talking about Iwobi's style and passing. I agree with pharmarsenal that Iwobi will do well in the ten role. By the way, Iwobi was brilliant in that position for Nigeria against Egypt.

you're right Sir.
I think Iwobi should help by tracking back while Onazi should also cover up when Echiejile surges forward.

Moses n Omuero can handle d right side of our half.

*Checks d time*.

OFFICIAL: NIGERIA START LIST VS ALGERIA

Etebo

Nigeria have picked the starting team for this
evening’s World Cup qualifier against Algeria in
Uyo.

South Africa-based goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi is in goal with Kenneth Omeruo and Elderson Echiejile as fullbacks.

Leon Balogun from German club Mainz 05 will re-enact his central defence partnership with William Troost-Ekong after injury kept him against Zambia.

Defensive midfielders are skipper Mikel Obi and
Ogenyi Onazi, while Victor Moses and Alex Iwobi
will run the flanks when attacking and come into the midfield when the Eagles are defending.

Portugal-based forward Oghenekaro Etebo will
play a more attacking midfield role to support top striker Kelechi Iheanacho, who is on course to score his fith goal in as many matches for Nigeria.

Eagles first team 4-2-3-1

Daniel Akpeyi – Kenneth Omeruo, Elderson
Echiejile, Leon Balogun, William Troost-
Ekong – Ogenyi Onazi, Mikel Obi -
Oghenekaro Etebo, Victor Moses, Alex Iwobi
- Kelechi Iheanacho

This is a very dynamic attacking line-up in our front four.... I just hope they click today. smiley

@mikeal2, re u judging iwobi by d position u see him play week in week out in arsenal, he is only playing there because of d presence of ozil, Wenger is trying to accommodate both of dem in his startin g line up and because of ozil experience and star status iwobi is shifted to d side. go and watch his games for arsenal in either d EFL cup and see where he plays. even Wenger has said it, he is not a true winger, so I see no reason why we should put him at d side for Nigeria where there is relatively no one better Dan him I. d no10 role. why am not too disturb is dat he will always drift inside d midfield and try to player killer passes to ihenacho or whoever plays 9. The most important tin is we must win today.

GOOD LUCK EAGLES, INJURED IKEME WISHES HIS MATES THE BEST

Carl Ikeme

The Super Eagles shot stopper Carl Ikeme, who
has been ruled out of today’s crucial World Cup
qualifier match against Algeria, has sent a good
luck message to the team.

The Wolves goalkeeper took to Twitter to send
through his message to the Super Eagles.

"Good luck to my brothers @NGSuperEagles
today!!! We are all behind you,” Ikeme said.

Eagles first-choice goalkeeper Ikeme, who was
man of the match in Zambia last month, is
recovering from a hip injury and his date of return has yet to be confirmed.

Another problem is how we position ourselves when we are taking a corner kick.
Tall Mikel,Balogun,Ekong and Etebo will go and nod...Onazi,Echiejile,Omeruo and Iwobi must stay back to avoid counter attack... Moses and Iheanacho are the Corner kick takers
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2023, 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheSuperNerd(m): 2:30pm On Nov 12, 2016
Relax.... Looollll.... For this game Iwobi starts from the "side" but you can expect him to drift in centrally as the game grows switching oftentimes with Etebo and Etebo also switching sometimes with Iheanacho.... This is a dynamic system being played out today and I hope it clicks.

Wenger also said Iwobi is fit and can grow into the no.10 role... In the cup games Arsenal have played so far this season, Iwobi started in Ozil's position (the no.10). For the Super Eagles, Iwobi can play there but then there's also Iheanacho and Etebo.... Iheanacho especially may stick to that 10 role in the long run by the time Osimhen and Isaac Success come into the Super Eagles.

So Iwobi is an option for us in the no.10 role but isnt first choice for now.

Note: Rohr watched Iwobi in the no.10 role when Arsenal played an EFL cup game when he was in England to see our players. Sir Tbaba1234 shared the pictures on this thread.

am just happy dat for d first tym our front like looks young and promising, filled with pace, athletism, and eye for goal not players dat will hang around d box and waiting for magic to happen. d ones lined up against Algeria will be ready to create sometin out of nothing and work for each other, dats hw u win matches of dis magnitude. we just need discipline at d back Mikel and onazi need to be at their best and help d full BKS whenever necessary, if echijile knw wat he will do to curtail mahrez today he should better go and do it nw before d match starts, because any woeful performance from him today might even bring an end to his S E career, we HV a no nonsense coach dis tym around, wen u HV d likes of ighalo and ideye and even musa sitting on d bench for etebo and ko u should knw dat this is a new super eagles, . we can't afford not to be in russia .
