How Is Mexico These Days? I Am Going There. by 19naia(m): 6:29am On Oct 25, 2016
I am planning to enter Mexico soon and it has been over 15 years since i was last there.

I have seen the Mexico travel threads before, so i know there are NairaLand people in Mexico.

For the past few years, Mexico has been a tale of danger from drug gangs wreaking murderous havoc and more. I have taken the US State department advisory report and noted the places to avoid or to be cautious in.

Any input from NL's in Mexico will be appreciated. What are the costs of living like food and lodging as well as any info on the safety there.
I will be driving this time and i have experience of driving there over 15 years ago.
Thanks.

The OP (naia19) stated that he will be driving into Mexico from the USA. So obviously naia19 just showed his American passport and that was it. Americans do not need a visa to Mexico the same way they are visa exempt when traveling to Canada. A Nairalander wrote on another thread that when transiting through Mexico, you are better off coming to Mexico with a European airline like Lufthansa, British airlines, KLM, the likes. If you come with an African airline, you stand a greater chance of being turned back. So, take that into consideration when choosing to transit through Mexico.

I love brilliant and concise post as this of your's thanks a great deal........ But I will like to ask so as to know why they ve gat no respect for African airline.even got to understand that even if you coming with aeromexico as far as you transiting through south America you ve only got poof chances....

I drove across the border from USA which is where i am based. I had to pay some tourist permit fees $21.oo for 6 month stay permitted for US passport. Also a higher price to pay for my car temporary import. $60.00 fee and $300.00 refundable deposit which would be forfeited if i do not exit my car from Mexico before the 6 month permit expires.

5 days of driving every day across USA and half way down into Mexico before stopping for 3 days rest.
Now i am settled in after an additional 4 hour drive to a small beach town.

Nice pictures.

Yes sir, well done. The tacos are affordably sweet and they come with many extras for toppings. Served by beautiful ladies of course.

I drove from USA across the Arizona border side. You can drive across from Texas, NewMexico, Arizona and California. They are all states in the southwestern part of USA.
Arizona crossing is the best for quick and safe access to the mainland pacific coastal region. Baja California is also pacific access but only through California and does not give more than one road access to mainland mexico where all the cities and habitable areas are. Lots of desert lands in Mexico.
