Hi guys, while I'm still waiting for my assessment outcome from vetassess, I just felt the need to drop this hint here. I've been following up with vetassess since I submitted my application, I used the advisory service, even though using it is not a guarantee that you will get a response before the stipulated 12 weeks, it does happen for some.

My transcript was sent and got to Vetassess almost 2 weeks before I submitted my application, it was sent via UPS the vetassess staff who signed for it was on the delivery confirmation I received. About 2 weeks later I submitted my application, feeling like it should be fast since I used advisory and they have my transcript. I even mailed them to confirm that they have everything and I got a response that they did. Since then I have called vetassess twice and I get the generic "it may take up to 12 weeks response " ...in my mind I'm doing this so that maybe someone will work on it faster. We're in the 6th week now, so imagine my surprise when I called to "mark attendance" and this nice lady tells me that she just checked my profile and that my school has not sent my transcript, I told her that wasn't possible, she said it wasn't there, then i told her who received. She told me to hold on , after a few mins she comes back to inform me that it was received and that because it came in before I submitted my application it was not refrenced and is not attached to my application, she promised to send it to my assessor, I was shocked cos these guys confirmed to me that they had everything.

I belive this could be a reason why mine is taking a while, cos the assessor might just check and if the docs aren't complete, they might just move on.

Anyways me I will call on Monday again to confirm, so guys if you submit your assessment to Vetassess ensure you confirm that they have everything.

We've been advised here severally to share valid information. So, I guess I've more info on WA than NSW.

However, in my opinion, NSW is not so interested in Engineers as with IT professionals, Accountants, Civil draftsmen, etc. So, getting ITA on 55 points may be a long wait. And with the current uncertainty of the SOL, it may be risky having to wait that long. I'm sure though that if you have 65 - 70 points, you'll get NSW ITA within the next couple of rounds. I'm not sure, though, that anyone with such high points will prefer 190 to 189, unless in your case where your occupation isn't on the SOL.

Finally, if you meet all the DIBP requirements but have 55 points, you're better off registering your EOI and starting the wait early enough.
NSW requirements are quite simple.

POTUSUK:
Thanks for that explicit answer. You are far too kind. But I'd like to know why you didnt stress on NSW like you did on WA.

Guys...do we know anyone that has applied to be nominated for Petroleum Engineering NSW recently and has gotten an ITA?. I need to weigh in the statistics. Cos as it is WA is a no go area.

Thanks bro. But I have got 60 points (Assumming EA assesses my work experience as positive). Im only considering that route because of my peculiarities as regards PE. Better still can rewrite english to aim 20 points...when and if the need arises.

If your aim is to remain in australia after the course, why not go through the first page on this thread and see if you can garner the minimum 60 points required for PR. I believe this will save you a lot of stress and cost in the long run.
Engineers don't have much problems getting positive assessment from Engineers Australia (i.e if you meet the requirements, are able to write a convincing CDR, and have the right documents to support your claims).

Modified
What is your area of engineering? It even gets better if your occupation is on the SOL.

Caveat:
I'm also a leaner here (lol).... hope the seniors on the thread will correct my blunders (if any).

CORRECTION:
Please disregard my comments about NSW. This was why I never wanted to speak about NSW as I don't have verified facts about them. Good thing was that i said "in my opinion".

I have just been informed by a friend that a Chemical Engineer with 55 points (no experience, and just band 6 English score; made up with partner skills points) got ITA and approval from NSW 2 weeks ago after being in the pool for just over 2 months.

This thus completely discards my opinion. You may wanna give it a try.

Did the person tell you how he got 55?

Assuming he has maximum points in Age..

Age: 30 points
English: Band 6. 0 point
Experience: 0 point
Qualification: 15 points
Partner's point: 5 point

Total:. 50 points

Where did he get the extra 5 points from?

For MLT, try Northern Territory or Queensland!

You might just have to bite the bullet here i.e open a Naija domiciliary account and source dollars from the black market; I know it's very dear to do that presently, but still you'll have better control of your situation.

Even if you get someone to help you pay for assessment now, remember, you'll still have to pay the visa fees in the nearest future; what if you can't get someone to help you pay the visa fees and it's almost Day 60 after receiving your ITA- one might start panicking; you don't want to be in that situation.

Envision the better future your 'investment' will provide, and maybe the bullet would be slightly easier to bite. Just maybe wink
All the best.

I received this email from Australian Institute of Medical Scientists (AIMS) for Medical Laboratory Scientist assessment. Does it mean they are giving me an MLT status or they might still give MLS status?

I'm asking this because I am a registered MLS in the UK with IBMS membership and am just wondering why AIMS will give me MLT status.

Having said that, what are the visa sub-class I can apply for if it turns out to be MLT and which states should I nominate?

Thanks guys

You can look on immitracker website to have a rough idea on when you can get Nsw nomination with 55 points.

But from my little research and discussion with friends, Nsw nominates engineers without any condition like work experience or employment contract. However, for the same reason, there is a long queue of those waiting for nomination. Personally, I submitted my EOI (Mining Engineering) with 55 on 01~ Feb~ 2016 and till date, no nomination.

The bottom line is, to get Nsw nomination, you need at least 60 points excluding the state sponsorship point. That's probably what happened with the Chemical engineer guy someone mentioned. He probably had 55 points plus 5 points from partner skills. that's why he got invited faster.

Correction

The lady actually had band 7 English, making her have 55 points and totaling 60 points with the 5 points from Partner Skill.

The confusion came from the fact that her husband who had band 6 was to be the principal applicant. He had hoped to receive Experience skills but EA MSA deducted most of his years. Hence, the choice of making the wife the principal applicant.

Age: 30 points
English: Band 7: 10 point
Experience: 0 point
Qualification: 15 points
Partner's point: 5 point

Total:. 60 points
