Its that simple, the account holders have ported to other banks.

I do have an account with access bank and one other bank, but have not operated it in the last 7 years. So am so sure, the 30million plus are made up of my likes.

How do you expect to retain customers when you steal from them? Imagine first bank will keep deducting 200 from someone account every month, banks are supposed to be serving us not the other way around

I experienced the same thing with Ecobank. I don port leave dem o! Minimum balance is 1000 and dey keep deducting money from it. Right now if I pay in #2000, I can only withdraw #1000. Maybe I'll jst go and close it.

Re: Nigerians Abandon 30m Bank Accounts by mandax: 8:26am On Nov 28, 2016
Only rogue Bank workers would misappropriate monies in dormant accounts.
It is called banks because it is a place to keep unwanted cash, people have trust in banks.
People open accounts, deposit money and leave the money in the banks dormant, in many cases for decades.
Before a bank could convert money in dormant accounts for any other use, every legal processes must have been made to ascertain that the depositor is dead and has no survivors who could inherit the dormant account.

Re: Nigerians Abandon 30m Bank Accounts by mandax: 8:35am On Nov 28, 2016
Too many Dormant accounts in Nigerian banks because many or all Nigerian banks operate abnormally. How can banks be charging interests on customer every withdrawal of money customer made? Some even de charge interest on savings account.
Banks outside Nigeria normally grow by huge interests from money they lend to businesses and to mortgage business.
Nigerian banks hardly lend money to businesses and to mortgage.

I know my Skye bank acct is among..why people won't abandon accounts. Nigeria banks lack customers relations, u can't get loan to finance small scale biz, unnecessary monthly deductions, those cashiers even makes it look as if they are doing u favor whenever u want to withdraw, ....

I top that list;

Guaranty trust bank....wondering what to trust when they keep charging me anyhow

Fidelity bank .....claim they keep to their words meanwhile they jacked up minimum operating balance from 1k -2k without carrying customers along

Eco bank........Recession have made me to abandon banks that don't matter to me

Access bank....they acquired my Intercontinental bank ,that was how i bid them good bye

Stanbic IBTC......still considering going back after the rude customer service babe annoyed me on top of my hard earned money

At last,I have found peace in Zenith and FCMB(for my foreign transactions) bank.... grin cheesy grin
