the man pushing the bill in the house is got some hidden unscrupulous agenda, and he knows the agenda won't sail unless he back it up with some elements of truth. be rest assured that once the bill is passed, sharia will surely scale too,and this won't be good at all. By the way, among all the burdensome issues we have now, how can a sane person thinks this is the right one to talk about now. the man needs to be checked. |

mindfreaks:Op is right, you might be educated but definitely not amongst the faithfuls. He's looking at it from a spiritual angle, you're looking at it from a canal perspective. A court for Christians is a mockery to our believe. Its in contradiction of everything we stand for as Christians. We should rather advocate that religious courts shouldn't be recognized. There should be Christian and Muslim lawyers operating in the regular courts defending their clients according to their religion, yet upholding the law as provided by the constitution. That to me is common sense. |

victorazy:What us God's law in the Bible? Is it the mosaic law which says an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, stone prostitutes and fornicators, kill stubborn children etc? Is that what you want them to follow? Below is how Christ ordered us. Mathew 5:38-48 38 “You have heard that it was said, ‘AN EYE FOR AN EYE, AND A TOOTH FOR A TOOTH.’ 39 “But I say to you, do not resist an evil person; but whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also. 40 “If anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, let him have your coat also. 41 “Whoever forces you to go one mile, go with him two. 42 “Give to him who asks of you, and do not turn away from him who wants to borrow from you. 43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR and hate your enemy.’ 44 “But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46 “For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? 47 “If you greet only your brothers, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? 48 “Therefore you are to be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect. |

victorazy:You do t get the point. We already have elders in church doing such duties. Setting up a Christian court goes against those elders as supported by the Bible. It goes against the Bible cos it can't be found in it a single verse that supports it. |

jidxin:You used the words "Just like the Sharia courts". Is Christianity Now modelling itself according to Islam? So long the Bible doesn't support such court, whatever we do will be stupid and unchristian-like. It will spell our doom. |

victorazy:The verses I quoted tells us to FORGIVE each other, not drag each other to a court. That is the law of God under the new testament of grace. But the old testament of mosaic law allowed people to drag themselves to a court. .We are no longer under the mosaic law. |

alBHAGDADI:There is no Elders' forum or anything like that again I know in christiandom, what we have now is individual court (pastor) who delivers judgements based on personal view, paspective or personal assumption and this sometimes has instigated chaos in verious homes. We need proper Christian court. |

| Re: Why Christians Should Reject The Bill For A Christian Court In Nigeria by alBHAGDADI(op): 1:38pm On Dec 07, 2016 |
victorazy:It is not about what you need, but about what the Bible says. In this case, the Bible has give. the church elders the authority to attend to such matters. Who are the church elders? They include pastors, prophets, evangelists, ministers etc. So, if your pastor is deciding o. such issues in your church, then he is right cos he hasn't gone against the tenets of Christianity and the bible. |
| Re: Why Christians Should Reject The Bill For A Christian Court In Nigeria by victorazy(m): 1:41pm On Dec 07, 2016 |
alBHAGDADI:Now your getting me. This is why we need the court to interprete the law to others and that's what the court is there to do, to set standard based on this your point not from the parish pastor's ideology. |

victorazy:The fact that the Bible doesn't prescribe such is a good reason not to do it. Do you know the kind of confusion such court will face on a daily basis? How do you expect all of the different judges to put heads together when they can't eve. share the same denomination? Do you think the cathokics can work with the Jehovah's witnesses? What about Anglican and Catholic? RCCG and Christ Embassy? There is confusion in the church already. Let's not add to it by going away from the Bible. |

alBHAGDADI:If you cheat me, I will take you to court whether you are Christian or not, this doesn't mean I don't forgive you rather it means I want to ensure that you are punished so that you do not repeat it again remember sin thrives when evil goes unpunished . Although I will feel much better taking a Christian to a Christian court. If I steal 10 million from you, will you just report me to your pastor and let me go? What if I don't belong to your denomination and won't agree to see your pastor? Also there are Christians like you who will take advantage of your meekness and benevolence for example he steals your three million naira and you forgive him because he is a christian but remember you ought to forgive him 70 times seven times. Therefore he continues stealing from you and you continue forgiving until you have nothing left for him to steal. People can be wicked like that so saying you will forgive him continuously in such a case may be good but you need to make him stop. So taking him to a court where spiritually minded people will judge the case according to biblical and standards is good. Your spiritual understanding of the new testament is limited therefore you do not understand that God has indeed come to fulfill the old testament laws. What is your spiritual discernment of the punishment for a thief in the new testament? I'm sure you will skip the part where Paul says "He who doesn't work should not eat" all you think of is forgiveness. God gives us the Holy spirit and provides us with peace so that we make proper judgements. Forget mosaic laws, those chosen to precide over our Christian courts will be men and women of God, known for their wisdom and service to God. If you don't like it I'm sorry but you may have to live with it |

The idea of a Christian court is a trap being set for Christians by Muslims ! If Christians foolishly accept it, Muslims will use it as a leeway to further proliferate Sharia and other hitherto caged Islamic agenda as the principles of secularism would have been broken using Christians as tools. That's probably why this bill is being hastened |
