I have gone through the thread but still need some clarifications for help. I wish to go to Cotonou with my family on my personal vehicle. Am a first timer with virgin passport. What are my likely difficulties to and fro? My car had Lagos port clearing, I have Nigerian drivers licence and wife too. Which hotel is cheap and close to the beach and market area? Can we buy few things and kept in our vehicle exposed on our way back. We intend passing the legitimate route. Please I need a guide from anyone in the house. Thank you. |

Hi Uncle Philio, New Nairalander here. Please, can I get a tourist guide in Benin for 1 or 2 days? Would like to visit some cities and some interesting places. The guide needs to speak some English. What could a day's payment to such a guide cost? I will be glad for responses. unclephilio123: |

Re: Need Traveling Advice To Cotonou by 12345abcde: 1:43pm On Dec 12, 2016 |
Dear Uncle Philio, Thanks for replying early. 1. Cotonou (some markets esp Dantokpa; Centre de Promotion de les Artisans, Foundation Zinsou (Rue du Gouverneur Bayol) ), 2. Quidah (point of no return), 3. Abomey, and 4. Porto Novo. Basically where you have some history and culture. Any place where I can get some affordable and fashionable local wears. Also to observe some night life. @Username ....Lol....been trying to change but can find how. Addendum: just developed some terrible stomach cramp. Please revert as I get some meds. unclephilio123: 1 Like |

12345abcde:Sir, To be candid with you,a day or 2 days wil not be enough for you to tour those places..Let assume u wil use half a day to buy stuffs frm Tokpa market, and thereby wish to visit Port Novo whch is another region frm cotounou. And so on as so forth llike dat,u stil intend to visit Quidah whch is along Benin rep and Lome togo capital So let reason it well |

My plan is to stay at least 4 nights. I might end up doing 5. I will need a tour guide for 1 or 2 days. The other days, I will test the waters myself to see if i get lost I think I will need the guide either the day I enter cotonou or the day after; in this way, we can draw up a rough sketch. So, what do you think? Thanks for the assistance. (Likely I will come in Wednesday). unclephilio123: |

I will be traveling to Cotonou tomorrow to initiate a western union transfer to my supplier in Dubai. This is my first time as I haven't sent money through Cotonou before and I need to know what to expect. Let any one who has gone through this before should please enlighten me I have tried sending the money through my domiciliary account in Nigeria but my bank said it will take three to four days for the money to get to my suppliers account so I had to cancel the transfer and withdraw the funds. |

Ugosample: My brother i won't lie to you, it was an eye opening to me, i learnt many many things like the yellow card process, the CFA currency and a lot about West African countries. As a matter of fact, i have included it in my short term goal to travel at least 5 west African countries before end of 2018 and i know with the fire you people ignited in me, i will accomplish it. On a serious note, i started reading this thread from around 1pm to 6pm, word for word. I don't want to stress myself tagging all of you that really contributed immensely, Thank you all for the info shared. I have come to dwell on the TRAVEL section, it really rocks more than i expected. one love pple. |

Ugosample, please i will like to know, is there any difference between ECOWAS passport and our international passport. |
Re: Need Traveling Advice To Cotonou by Ugosample(m): 11:15pm On Dec 19, 2016 |
Chriswazo: Nice one bro. Travelling to 5 west African countries before 2018 is an achievable goal, and By God's grace, the finances will be available by then. That said, Benin-Togo-Ghana-Ivory Coast-Burkina-Ghana-Togo-Benin is one formula to achieving your goal, and what makes it even more lovely is thE apsrt from Ghana, the other countries use the same currency (CFA) But I must tell you, except Naira improves, you have to go with a lot of money o |
Re: Need Traveling Advice To Cotonou by Ugosample(m): 11:17pm On Dec 19, 2016 |
Chriswazo: It's the same o, our green cross You get your international passport at the Immigration office in Festac, Ikoyi and Ikeja if you are in Lagos. |
Re: Need Traveling Advice To Cotonou by Chriswazo(m): 11:24pm On Dec 19, 2016 |
Ugosample: Thank you sir for this direction, i will even save this your comment for future reference. I don't think money will be a problem since I have good reasons for it, i will even add Cameroun to the list, so my goal has changed to 6 countries. I guess 200-250k suppose to accomplish it, that won't be a problem by His grace. |
