milychocs: I going to believe that experiencing something is different from watching another experience it and on the scale of traumatising events giving birth would surpass menstrual cramps but the girl wasn't the one giving birth was she? Having experienced menses I am inclined to believe that she won't be as traumatised as you suppose she would however we know people are different and we really can't judge how the event affected her but on a general note I would say witnessing such a thing would have a positive impact on her. The was a story recently of a young boy who had to help deliver his baby sibling. Asked later what he felt, he said he was not afraid and was happy to be of help. http://www.parenting.com/news-break/11-year-old-boy-helps-mom-deliver-baby-home No signs of undue trauma on the young boy so I am very much inclined to believe a 13year old girl would be even better prepared to deal with witnessing her mother give birth. |

Looking back. . . The teenager did not seem to be phased! Maybe I am putting myself in her shoes as I was once a 13 year-old. I don't think I would have recovered from the trauma. But hey! These are different times. A 13 year-old from the 70s is not the same as one born in 2005! I may just be a prisoner of my own world after all. Still thinking though. . . . . |

KanwuliaJara: Did you see the news of the 10year old that assisted his mom to deliver at home? Boy says he wants to be a doctor in future. I want to believe I would have had such guts at that age. |

LordReed: She asked you a question which you conveniently evaded. Mr. Man, the question still remains, have you actually witnessed a chikd birth before? |
