All Progressives Congress (APC) supporters in Rivers state have shut down Port-Harcourt, protesting what they termed killings of their members, harassment and blackmailing of the security agencies by the Rivers state Governor, Nyesom Wike.


The supporters are also protesting against the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members especially over harassment and blackmailing during the December 10 re-run election held in the state.

The protesters numbering over a thousand carried placards with inscriptions such as; “The sacrifice of the police is commendable,” “The Police tried their best but Wike won’t let them be,” “Blood thirsty Wike on the prowl” among others.

They are demanding the immediate resignation and the investigation of the Rivers State INEC REC & and all others, whom according to them, “Governor Wike compromised and indulged in bribery/corruption, which subverted the true will of the people, and resulted to a very poor conduct of the rerun election by INEC, as clearly exposed in the trending audio recording of Nyesom Wike’s conversation with INEC officials.”

They said they were equally “protesting the barbaric killing and beheading of a senior police officer and his men at ONELGA during the last rerun election and other crimes against humanity sponsored/supported by Wike’s government in Rivers State.”

I am surprised that with the gross under performance of the Buhari administration, people can still troop out in support of his party. We should at least for once have a little sense. To me, this is insanity. Most Nigerians are like the Esau of the Bible who sold his birth right for a plate of meal. How long shall we continue like this. If someone is not doing well, we all should be thinking on how to unseat him. We should not be more interested in party affiliations. We should be more interested in what will move the nation forward.
