I don't know why in our society today, most people condemn it when a guy seeks financial assistance from a girl. I have this business I intend to start so that I can be making some money and start planning to settle down. I told some friends I wouldn't mind if I find a good lady ready to settle down who can assist me to start the business and I know for sure I will want to build a decent relationship with her that will lead to marriage if she is already ready to do thesame. They all have been of the opinion that it doesn't make sense to take money from a lady and it's not like they themselves can even help a brother out. I will like to hear your opinion about this and what is so wrong for a guy to do something like this especially when he has true intentions to be with the Lady? |

Asking money from a lady isn't conventionally wrong. I am using the word conventional because I don't think there is any axiomatic definition that subsumes what's right and what's wrong. Conventional refers to our currently accepted social standards for right and wrong. So, according to what's conventionally accepted as wrong, asking money from a lady isn't wrong. What can be classified as wrong is the reason behind your decision to ask her for the money. And the reason behind yours doesn't seem tenable. You are making it seem like the primary reason for wanting to get married is to find a woman who would be able to provide a significant part of the capital you need to start a business, and I don't see that as a wise thing to do. What ever happened to working towards being independently financially buoyant before deciding to marry? You can find a woman who would lend you money, but it doesn't have to be a woman who you'd eventually marry. Believe it or not, there is a certain kind of respect that would be accorded to you by your wife if you became financially successful without her help. That level of respect wouldn't be accorded to you by someone who provided part of the capital that helped you become financially successful. 6 Likes |

Only kids who just started dating would tell you its wrong. You hardly see a matured guy who in one way or another hasn't collected money from his fiancee. I have done it, not once, not twice but uncountable because I do also give her and if it happens that I borrowed the money from her, I do pay back x2 sometimes. |

So from your question, she doesn't need to ask before I give which means it's not bad for her to collect from me when I give her. Not wrong to collect. Many girls have given me money with pure intentions. I collect if it's from a pure heart and most times I collect it it's even that I need it. Asking girls for money is something else entirely, I've never done it and I don't think I can. If I'm damn pressed for money, I'll run to a male friend. Never a girl. |
