I thought as much as I have seen this particular model with similar issues. My advice is to sell the phone (to a non- nairalander... LOL) and get a cheap remi 4 series.

When I saw it.. then i went back to AliExpress... Mi note was quoted above 200$... Then i had a second second thought...

That's a major update from lollipop to MM. Backup only your important documents before updating. Do not backup system settings and apps because you'll face compatibility issues after updating. Lastly do a factory reset after updating and then install all apps from playstore.

Exactly! Mi note is way ahead of mi4. No one ever complained of the display, even display of ordinary redmi 2 is good. Immediately I saw the complain on display, the first thing that came to my mind was CLONE.

You have to also consider this is holiday period.

Looks like there is an issue with your card, you'd be asked to upload your card details(dunno how safe that is though)
