I just didn't buy his "whitelash" theory at all. That's not to say there is no racism in America, but I believe PC culture was a factor in Hillary's loss. Calling men sexist for 'shouting' or strongly criticizing a woman and other absurdities may have been the reason why White men (and significant minority men) turned their backs on Hillary.

Nevertheless, I'm not entirely sure about why 52% of White ditched Hillary. Did they vote against her because of her corporatist background? Her perceived "lies"? It's a mystery.

To me, Dems have lost over 900 state legislative seats and Congress because many of them chose to be Republican-lite. They only offered insignificant deviations from their Republican opponents' policy proposals. A case in point is Alison Lundergan Grimes, who in 2014, was running against Mitch McConnell in Kentucky. At a debate, she was struggling to say whether she voted for Obama or not.
Of course, voters saw through her deception and preferred to return McConnell to Washington.

For the Democratic Party to be successful in the 2018 and 2020 elections, it needs to field candidates who are economic liberals, but moderate on the "social issues". The likes of Sherrod Brown, Tulsi Gabbard, Kamala Harris, or even Nina Turner would beat your traditional conservative Republican in a presidential election.
