Biafra: Breaking Up Nigeria Has Consequences – Junaid Mohammed by Stingman: 12:54pm On Dec 31, 2016
Kano-based fiery politician, Junaid Mohammed, has called on the President, Muhammadu Buhari, to look beyond the United States, for ways out of the country’s present economic recession.

This is even as he said that if the Igbo continued with their agitation, a democratic means could be devised for them to vote and decide whether they want to go or remain in Nigeria...

Part of Excerpts:

You once advised President Buhari, at the inception of his administration in 2015, that if Igbo want to go, they should be allowed to go. Do you still hold the same view?

Well, I don’t know if you understood the context in which I said the Igbo should be allowed to go, if they want to go. First, there is no way the Federal Government can allow any section of the country to go, without going through another civil war. And another civil war is an open invitation to anarchy and violence. I am not a violent man, I don’t believe in violence. But yes, if they continue with their agitation, a democratic way can be devised, so that they can vote, to decide whether they should be allowed to go, or to remain.

However, and most unfortunately too, Igbo have not articulated what they want. You cannot start talking for people who do not know exactly what they want. What will you be preparing for? And mark you, those who imagine that breaking up Nigeria will be a panacea to all the problems we have, are deluding themselves. I say so because, examples abound all over the world. Look at Southern Sudan experience, America insisted that the country must be split in two, it has since been done, but is there peace in Southern Sudan today? The South is already enmeshed in a bloody civil war; nobody knows how it will end, when it will end. I don’t believe Igbo would want to go through another civil war, after the first disaster of 1967-1970. And I believe they are entitled to every right and everything an average Nigerian is entitled to. And there is no evidence; they can claim to say they have been deprived.

But they are complaining of being marginalized under the present administration?

It is not correct. Tell me, who is not marginalized under this administration? Anyway, the two most powerful individuals running the country’s economy today, rightly or wrongly, are Igbo. The Minister of Budget and National Planning is an Igbo man, the Adviser on Budget is an Igbo man, and the CBN governor is an Igbo man. So, only the Minister of Finance is not Igbo. So, if they think they can continue to make irresponsible demand from the national patrimony, of course, let them go ahead. At some point, all things must come to a certain end. And I don’t lose sleep over certain demands made by some people.

One of the arguments they are making is that, in terms of equitable distribution of resources and political offices, they have not been fairly treated.

Are you also saying they have no case in that regard?

Well, first and foremost, they should tell us, who has been favoured, vis-à-vis the positions they claim? Two, was it a planned subterfuge by the government of the day to deny them certain positions or was it as a result of certain things that have happened in the past, when Igbo occupied those positions, which is not as a result of anybody’s planning? For example, after General Aguiyi Ironsi, who was implicated in the coup that brought him to power, the next senior Igbo man we had was (Gen Azubuike) Ihejirika, as the Chief of Army Staff. He turned out to be a big disaster, as he turned out to be a dangerous tribalist. What makes them think that we must now give them that position again, simply because they are now clamouring for it? That is number one. Number two, we had a former governor of the Central Bank, his name was Paul Oguma, and he was a disaster. We now have another Igbo man, Godwin Emefiele, who has turned out to be another disaster. So, if you allow me, I can go on and on.

You are entitled to your opinion sir regardless of how irrelivant it is in the grand scheme of things.

You are pained that Christian south sudan chose to separate from the islamic north. And for some selfish reasons you think their political teething and evolutionary challenges must be the template for everyone else. What a delusion!

What makes them think that we must now give them that position again?

You see the mindset of an average Hausa-Fulani oligarch. They think Nigeria is their personal property, and that they're simply doing others a favour by allowing them have a say.

Dumbasses who still think this is the 1960s. Mr. Man, this 2016, and it's already late.

The price is too much to pay for freedom. Since the independent the Biafrans has paid so much including the supreme price. So what consequences again is one afraid of?

But the worst is staying together as a nation where you become a second class citizen.

Never knew that Senator Udoma Udo Udoma is an Igboman! Anyway, this is what normally happens when you don't know were u belong; your neighbor will fix you any where he likes.

Today they will called them South South and tell them that the Igbos needed them because of their oil. When they want to take over their position in the government, they will call them Igbos. I really pity the Niger delta people abi na South South!

Btw, so it has been established that Northerners are the ones deciding who holds whichever position in Nigeria: what about the so called sophisticated ones, I mean the sophisticated Boiling Frogs from the South West

The blabbermouth is at it again. Here's the point at which he lost me this time:

"... the next senior Igbo man we had was (Gen Azubuike) Ihejirika, as the Chief of Army Staff. He turned out to be a big disaster, as he turned out to be a dangerous tribalist ..."

So because he massacred your foot soldiers of boko haram and drove them from the cities into sambisa forest he's a "failure and dangerous tribalist"?

Anyway Mr Junaid, whether you like it or not, restructuring is inevitable - not only for the Ibos but for all the groups in Nigeria. All the indices point to it, every interested, rational mind extrapolates the data to that conclusion.

It is only a matter of time.

Only basement idiots will conclude that mere agitation for homeland and self determination is open invitation to anarchy and war. In addition, only deluded Nigerians will arrive at the silly assumption that the agitation for Biafra is a means of solving all Nigeria's problems or Biafra's for that matter. The agitators for Biafra are simply interested in controlling their destiny. They want compatriots who spoke the same mother tongue and willing to hold conversation without resorting to second faraway and colonial language such as English in the enclave known as Biafra.

I would love to seat in a class where this inveterate foolish fool had to expatiate on how Ironsi was implicated in the coup that brought him to power. In fact, I do not blame these jackasses but Ironsi who went to sleep after wrestling power from the coup plotters of January 15, 1966 in Nigeria.

Senator Udo Udoma (Akwa Ibom) is now Igbo; Godwin Emefiele (Delta State) is also Igbo...that is d mindset of the average or deliberately deceitful northerner. That is how Buhari said he had appointed an Igbo man MD of NNPC so what else does the Igbo man want. How long did d Igbo man hold said position? Is that not why the substantive confirmation and appointment of another 'Igbo' man as CJN is being messed with? When it is time, they suddenly remember the difference between SS and SE yet some premature goats will be here asking why they are doing by force relationship.

As for Junaid, he's part of the old order that know the truth but persist in their stupidity. Is it d isolated positions of COAS and CBN Gov that make or mar governance of the Nigerian state? Do these positions have any level of independence? Are appointees into this position not forced to take and act under instructions? Does he not know that the performance of a person is mostly dependent on the environment in which he has to operate?

firstly, I don't think Igbos don't know what they want.

someone can't keep saying something and you say he doesn't know what he is saying.

secondly. Igbos should stop holding back when the comment on issues about the Hausa Fulani elements.

they see ihejirika as a tribalists yet don't see tribalism in buratai and Bihari.

Igbos it is left for you.

also Igobs should stop taking up fights about SS people. Reason, is that most of our people are not reasonable.

I've told people that it will be difficult for the federal government to have meaningful development in the SS.

Our people can only complain. Nothing will change. some of them will claim that the militant will agitate .

forget them. most of our people using militancy to bargain and boast will speak against the militants.

apart from Ayo oritsejafor and dokubo how many SS people were vocal about boko haram.

Igobs, you know what to do, do it.

Junaid Muhammad should not be given the attention he is seeking. His statement reeks of ignorance. He is an Hausa man who is being ruled by Minority fulanis. Buhari can only go for 8years and must by convention or force, give power back to South. The arrogance being displayed by Junaid Muhammad in this article is simply his accumulated anger he has against Igbos.
Igbos should not respond to him because he is an Hausa man. He should go first and get back his kingdom being dominated by Fulanis before he start saying 'give this' or 'give that'.

That's the politics. They see every down South as 'Igbo', while those down South don't even know they're one.

Apparently, it's the same Hausa-Fulani oligarchy that came to divide them via 'South-South', 'South East' nomenclature. They know the truth.

The moment the old Eastern Region comes to their senses and realizes the game these 1d10ts are playing, boom! That's the end. Which is why they can't release Nnamdi Kanu - the only guy that was bold enough to speak the truth! But time will tell.

Some few days ago when this man was on Buhari's neck, the headlines were that Buhari ardent supporters have started deserting him. Some even used words like northern elders to withdraw supporter for Buhari 2019.
The man received accolade, was hailed especially by those guys here on nairaland from the region of 5 percent people. Now that he spoke and told them the plain truth, he has been turned to villain. May be next time Muhammed Junaid speaks he should say Buhari must give them Biafra. I believe he would be Atikunised by them just as they have been re echoing Atiku's restructure comment to mean giving them their Dreamed Biafra. In fact, they prefer Atiku's candidatureship to Ikweremadu's, their Biafran brother comes 2019. Such has been their obsession for everything Buhari as if he's responsible for the red mud erosion ravaged nature of their land.
But every objective minded person would discern that what Muhammed Junaid has said is absolutely correct; that political means and not threat or Blackmailing can realise Biafra.
