Whenever I hear African countries relying on world bank data to perfom a simply task such as identifying most vulnerable Nigerians, it speaks volumes that no education is really going on in schools in third world countries. Otherwise, how could the world bank have such important data about Nigeria while the Nigerian government have none? Aren't there statisticians coming out of our universities? Scrap this foolery called education!. Its not serving its purpose in Africa!!. |

I REGRET BEING A NIGERIAN...This is nothing but utter shame and madness..Even the so called educated ones are just a bunch of retards.. If u have a 1st degree or HND from any institution and you still come here to believe this useless and illfated programme will even enhance the welfare of any poor person that zeven if it eventually gets into the hands of the actual less priviledged people and doesnt get stashed up in the account of this Bastard govt officials using ghost records and invisible data ti siphon funds meant for the needy..Then You are also a part of the problem of this country i weep for this nation...We are bleeped already here..its a pity. |

Am not yet convince till the money is distributed to all account holders and not selectively. All nigerians are entitle to that money. There is nothing like poorest Nigerians |

asuustrike2009:Well from the report, it stated that the states had a social register of the poor, which met the set criteria of the social safety net scheme and vetted by World bank. In other words, it is left to the states to fulfil the first criteria, before qualifying. I'm persuaded to believe that this scheme is sustainable and will not go the way of SURE-P. First off, it was painstakingly planned and now being executed. IF it were just for face-saving and political campaign schemes, cash would have been dolled out and the programme would have hit the rock |

I pray God forgive all antagonists of this. You didn't go against it when it was mentioned during there campaign. You ve forsaken them when this programme wasn't forthcoming. It has come now, you re dragging it with the poor's who re the beneficiaries. I so much believe this is not going to be for any nairalander who can afford data everyday here. I pray u will not encounter poverty in your life. |

Those of you on the first page of this thread who keep on asking how the government will know who is poor and vulnerable, did you actually read this emboldened part of the article?! The government is using a well-proven framework that was modelled by the world bank. This social welfare scheme is a fantastic development in my opinion, true development in any economy is measured by how it treats its poor and vulnerable. All major developed countries have social welfare schemes that cater for the poorest of the poor, Nigeria is on the way up. disc20: |

mapet:OK I think I agree with you to a large extend.Am only critical not because I don't wish this government well but we have to be realistic in some things. This scheme will work in some states favourably well while the others would divert it especially the south south States |

Some of our assertive statements are false. Thank God you said it is what you feel....... alexiej:Well your opinion. But is it not at least a bold step in the right direction? If we fail along the way, we simply step back, reassess it and readjust. Not taking action at all is unpardonable. |
