Hello everyone, Please I have a valid B1/B2 visa. I plan on studying in the US also. Should I change status to F1 when I visit the US? Or should I come back and apply for the F1 ? Secondly, would my B1/B2 visa be cancelled when I apply for the F1? I heard it gets cancelled without prejudice and my F1 would get cancelled too. Please I need guidance. |

vickbigship:If you don't need it for your admission they let them take it out. Simply tell them it's a vocational program. Your WAEC and high school transcript is ok for you |

kelvyn29:If you have an F-1 what do you need a B1/B2 for. And no it might/might not be cancelled. What they told you is a big fat lie. Apply for your F-1 from Nigeria it is cheaper and stress free. The wait times for change of status spans from 3-1year before approval. After approval you know if you need the visa stamped you'll still need to go to the embassy for visa. So my advice is apppy from Nigeria |

vickbigship: Work closely with oyo, go to the exams and records, pay someone.... hope they still do that in Nigeria . Nothing is missing on their system, probably, they haven't get enough amount (in naira) of catalyst needed to speed up the reaction to trace your record. Abeg, go speak to them in their language. Don't write Umaine, they may not believe your story. Transcript is the easiest document to get from school in US.... provided that you don't have financial hold on your student account, it just a matter of few clicks online and your transcript is on its way the next business day. 3 Likes |

anaccondac: Thanks. I have the B1/B2 and not the F1. Changing status can be challenging, yes I know. But if they might cancel the existing B1/B2 if the F1 gets denied, then it's worse. |
Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 10 by Nobody: 7:42am On Jan 05, 2017 |
kelvyn29:Lol. Fortunately, COs don't cancel B1/B2 when they deny F1. Infact, if you have a B1/B2 visa on your passport, getting an F1 visa becomes a piece of cake for you. |

Please house, how do I know if my WES transcript evaluation fees/payment has been received because right now I'm at the stage where they are showing me "invoice or order number"after I have input the details on my master card and I clicked submit payment. Thanks |
Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 10 by anaccondac: 8:10am On Jan 05, 2017 |
kelvyn29:I didnt say you have an F-1, that was an assumption. Why are you scared about denial. You have a chance of getting you F-1 approved since you have travel history. Better chance than fresh applicants. |

kelvyn29: Why would u think u get denied ? ..... think positive Prepare well for the interview, you are more than enough resource that have been posted here on Nairaland for F1 application .. with that you should be fine ..Also as someone has corrected a denied F1 application doesnt affect the existing B1B2 |

kelvyn29: Come back to Nigeria and apply for an F1. You can't change status from B1 to F1 in the US. No your B1 visa will not be cancelled just because you applied for an F1 visa. Subsequent applications to renew the B1 visa may be problematic should your F1 application be denied though. 1 Like |

lordgosh: They simply did not understand how your qualifications compare with a typical US 4-year degree. You should have your degrees evaluated by a reputable agency like WES and try again. |

Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 10 by TWoods(m): 11:09am On Jan 05, 2017 |
penitential: Well lets see, you've asked 2 questions... 1. how to progress academically 2. best application to submit to progress to a masters Only you know what you want to do. No one can determine this for you. First you have to figure out what masters program you want to go for, what schools (i presume you have a country in mind), how you intend to pay for it, what the requirements are (e.g. if there are any entrance tests you need to take). It seems to me that majority of the folks here simply want to follow a template laid out by others, without having to do any work themselves. What would you do if NL did not exist? 1 Like |
