My DD is like that too from birth..
She is almost 6 weeks now and is a lot less sleepier during d day but still does the waking up every 1 hour at nyt to eat. She has also started Spending more time while sucking now as compared to d 10mins of before.

AbbynHummy:
My one week old baby is always sleeping during the day, she prefers to sleep than to nurse, she is on exclusive breastfeeding, and I feel she is not eating much becos of her sleepiness, I have woken her up like 4times today to breastfeed her, she won't spend up to 10mins on the breast before she dozes off. But she wakes up like every 1hr plus at night to feed, she doesn't sleep much at night. What do I do?

Newborns tend to sleep a lot during the day, however check the colour of her eyes very well to rule out jaundice it cause sleepiness in babies, Otherwise just let her be and make sure you feed her well at night when she is willing to eat.

Thanks, I appreciate ur help. My son is 15m, Hp he can still take it. Is it given in health centers like the other routine vaccines? Or we'll have to pay to request for it. we were told at our 9 months immunization that d nxt vaccination is not until 18m bt now.... N I jst want to make sure we'r properly covered.
He can still take it and I believe it's readily available in all health centre and doesn't require advance booking.

Though hospitals differ it's best to check with yours first to know how they roll.

Happy New Year Mummies & Daddies in the house...I hope y'all had a wonderful holidaying period...Me and my family really had a swell time..All thanks to God.
My boy is growing fast and will be 6months this month, only problem I have with the dude is that he does not like to eat. Feeding time for him is a nightmare for my wife as he would cry and try to bring the roof down, but will immediately start smiling when the food is finished(very mischievous kid, I don kuku buy cane keep for am)We started with NAN 1 immediately after birth because wifey's breast-milk could not quench his appetite, infact his first meal after birth, when breast-milk could not quieten him was NAN 1 borrowed from another woman in the ward, fast-forward to today, they suggested we introduced Pap,which we did and mixed with the NAN 1, fist day he ate well, next day cry and eat session started...we were advised to buy cerelac that it is sweet and he would love it, I bought the HONEY+WHEAT+MILK combo and he still cries when been fed...Is he just been naughty or is it that he does not like the food.
Can Cerelac be fed to him as a stand alone milk? We usually mix it with his pap.
What other food can we buy to complement breast-milk which does not quench his hunger?

Dear Mama,
Bodies differ. But it usually takes between one week to 3 weeks depending on the woman's body.
Mine healed in like 2 weeks but with constant sitz bath twice a day

I do my sitz bath twice a day, the pain has subside. But the suture didn't dissolve cos I do see some in my pad when I change, I used a mirror to look down there, and I saw fleshy part, though its not bleeding. Cos what I heard is that the suture will dissolve on its own after 2-3weeks, but mine is jux barely 1wk

Abbynhummy, congrats on your delivery and welcome to the thread, about healing time for episiotomy, my dear it differs oh depending on the way your body heals. Some say 2-3weeks, mine took 6weeks due to my kind of skin and it wasn't infected oh, so just calm ur mind and enjoy your baby, do your sitz bath, keep communication with your Gynae if u observe any abnormalities and sabi mamas if u need answers based on experience. Kisses to ur baby.

@inikamoze, pls that cerelac is not for your son's age. By a cereal of six months for your baby.
Most babies do not like to eat just continue, sing for him while feeding, you can be dancing for him while your wife his feeding him , he will get distracted and will not know when he swallows.

If all immunization has been received ,then I guess he doesn't like exposure, he's such a child that wants u to always wear him inner wear.then make food his medicine, there are some immune boosting foods.use google pls.

Broccoli has natural vitamin c ,blend it and make soft chicken soup for him,add spinach, garlic, mustard sauce, pickled onion, cook all n blend, after blending, put back in the pot and use it to cook the chicken ,cut the chicken into small pieces to fit his mouth add salt to taste.I don't know if u can get fresh Rosemary, me sef dey find that herb

Ideally it doesn't take a long time to heal.though mine took about 6montha cos of a dangling flesh at d site,I was told it wasn't well arranged during stitching.d stitches should dissolve in 2 weeks anyway, just continue ur sitzbath

I will suggest you continue with the exclusive till your baby is 6months, am sure its a matter of weeks and days to hit the mark. There are so many cereals to start with at 6months, pap and homemade food.

sorry about that. My son experienced same for a long time till i took my leave and ALWAYS bathed him with hot water and sometimes put silverbird in his bathing water too. I then came to the logical conclusion that my nanny bathes him with lukewarm water hence the catarrh, cough and congested chest all the time embarassed All in all, give him immune boosting foods as another momma suggested and bathe him with hot water and it will hopefully pass. Cheers dear

Helloooo mamas, am new here. Hope am welcome?
Please what do you do if suddenly your 2weeks baby stop pooing. Am so worried!!! Her Pediatrician says I should wait for like 5 to 8 days that they tend to change and I should drink more water. Hubby and mom said I should give the baby warm water which I have done but still no poo. What else can I apply.

Thanks

Teamie...welcome to the club.

My lo stopped everyday poo at 3 weeks...was worried sick but her pediatrician said its normal that I should just watch her to know how long it takes her to poo.
Here's wat I did - I took oranges and more fruits, gave her warm water and watched my diet to be sure I'm not eating stuff that could get us constipated.

She pooped on her own after 3 days.

I'm almost freaked out but I guess I understand better now.

Cerelac is not a milk, get an age appropriate milk to mix his pap with.you van get one that taste nice and see if his eating will improve. For other meal suggestions have you tried fruit cos babies tend to love fruit, for a start try avocando, banana and watermelon.
You can also try friso gold, most babies prefer it to cerelac. There is also Gerber ,Heinz, cow and gate porridge.
While feeding sing for me him too and make funny faces ,just make feeding time fun and watch him guzzle down all the food in house.

You are advised to wait till six month, but if you must.
Make the pap yourself for the sake of hygiene
Get an age appropriate milk to mix it with to make more nutritious cos pap has very little nutrients.

Pls don't rub him anything if possible fumigate the house and compound.
Make sure all openings are sealed.
If fumigating is not possible get sniper but you must leave the house with the baby oh,spray it all over the house,if possible compound in the morning,by evening it will be safe.you won't experience quitoes for at least a month, unless those ones are witches

There is no thought that babies are indeed bundle of joy, but sometime we mothers/fathers face so many challenges raising our kids, so i want us to use this avenue to discuss any issue concerning them(our kids) here!!!!!! For example, my 8weeks old boy sleeps only 6 hours @ night but seems to enjoy more time sleeping during the day, but i must confess am not too happy about it at all, but what every1 is saying its normal.......... Nairalanders Is this normal?
