Nice points op but in a way you contradict yourself, are you saying authoritatively that noting good comes out of those herbal products sold at the bus stop? And when you talk about medicines with gin,do you know that there are some herbs that must go through extraction with alcohol for utmost efficacy? |

so what traditional drug(s) will help with cancer, appendicitis, different stds, and the numerous exotic diseases and ailments out there. True, a lot of modern drugs and treatment methods have some nasty and often more destructive side effects, but traditional medicine cannot solve up to 1/100 of the numerous ailments out there |

[quote author=ajoskele post=52583750].Someone said when the Brits colonized India and Nigeria, the Indians rejected their language, food, clothes, religion and other British culture. They only embraced their technology. But Nigeria accepted their language(some would be talking through their noses like the Queen herself), their food(someone cannot eat eba/garri with hands again), clothes(I once wore a fine ankara to campus on a Monday morning and my girl didn't walk with me all day), religion(if you don't go to church on Sunday, consider yourself a devil re-incarnate) and other British lifestyles. Sadly, we rejected their technology.[/quote You're wrong on many counts, India has 2 official languages: Hindu and English They accepted parts of their culture they wanted and discarded the rest. Your girl is an olodo for not walking with you when you wore ankara (and i do not really believe that part; nobody is that stupid) India is the mostculturally diverse country in the world, down the lines of language and religion and they have accepted different denominations of Christianity, Islam, besides their local religions. The clothes were also copied and a lot more I get that you are trying to Nigerian have imbibed all sorts of cultures, but we have not lost our food, there are lots of traditional worshippers in different parts, we all just don't really pay attentions to them. I just can't give details but please before you state your point of view, conduct adequate research and state facts and not your opinion |

EmekaBlue: Do you know the contents of the agbo jedi jedi. I know a person that got very sick because of it, he also died. He was treated in America because of it. They had to cut out a section of his stomach and fix it somehow{ i don't know the exact procedure but that is my understanding of it} |

I understand your plight my people, I am a Medicinal Chemist myself (first degree in Pharmacy). It is extremely frustrating, time-consuming to do such research in Nigeria. There are no equipment, solvents are very costly amongst several other problems. But some of us are still trying our best, you can surf the net and see myriads of research work done on Nigerian plants. Thanks and God bless. |

chiefoluigwe:Bros, check your BP oo. 1. What is the official language in India? Is it even Hindu? The official language in Indian is Hindi and the subsidiary language is English. They still have over 20 official languages. 2. When I said my babe would not walk with me because I was on a native attire on a Monday, I thought a reasonable person would get what I literarily meant. Bros, you are a literary olodo. 3. Do you know the percentage of christians in India before they were colonized and now? Do you know that of Nigeria before the Britons came and after they left? That's an assignment for an olodo like you. You, and people like you, are the problems of this nation. Why are you not paying attention to traditional worshippers? Why are you a christian or a muslim? Why are you not courageous enough to worship Osun or Sango or Ogun? You do not even know the major religions in India and you are telling me to visit google? Bros, yu noh well well ahswear |

Joavid: No, Traditional Herbal Medicine is not dead. There are several educated and professional herbalists trained in Nigeria and abroad who work in Nigeria. Ife has a BSc program in herbal medicine and many pharmacy departments in Nigerian universities have done and are doing lots of work in this direction. So are some private companies and charities. The WHO has programmes and projects. for traditional medicine. Some State Ministries of Health have Boards of Traditional Medicine in the country. The problem is government's lack of seriousness and the resistance of for profit Big Pharma. |

This Op is wicked ooooooo. she just want to yeye our pharmacists that sell drugs in Papa Chukwudi & Son Chemist store, after many years in d universities On a serious note this should be a wakeup call to our people who claim to be graduate/professionals in science relate fields to reality.they should stop claiming title they don't deserved. common fever they will be calling different names to put fear in someone's mind. Doctor go forget surgical tray and scissors in somebody belle. Mechanical engineer no sabi where brake pad dey inside motor generator spoil dem go dey look for mechanic. Civil engineer don't know to set blocks. Electrical engineer nko can't even wire his own house If they really know their worth they would have been creating jobs and Nigeria would be than dis |

princejayboss: Nobody is disputing the potency of herbal drugs How much research is being done to make it potent is what important? Why can't it be documented like other drugs you take. Why can't it be tested for potency to meet international standard? These are many more must be the questions to ask. Just like you have school of scienec and engineering and you can't even boast of a car manufacturing facility in this country just quacks We must develop it to meet int'l standard |

this herbal medicine can be an industry on its own providing employment to a vast majority of people. but you know what? our small small mentality will not make it happen. NB: Nature has endowed naija with all kinds of herbs, the ones for relaxing, healing wounds, increase blood cells (anti-anaemia), even the ones for you to get high >>>opium, antimalaria, antityphoid and so on, the list is endless. |
