I confronted a manager in one of the transport companies when I went to drop som1 @ d park he explained to me that d hike is totally not a matter of greed but based on d fact that lets say in this new year when ppl are going back to their destinations,U usually have to drive empty and come back when U reach those places and if U say U have to wait till U get passengers to come back, there will be shortage of buses to convey ppl back to their base.
So,always reason front and back b4 U criticise.

They accuse us of being greedy, self-centred money grabbers when we treat our own people as we would any other customer but label us as tribalists when we decide to give ourselves preferential treatment... we can never win with these people. If we had better governance on a state and federal level then we wouldn't be having these problems.
Who are the people accusing you of all these you have pointed out? Cant you see that the people complaining are igbos? Seriously you guys need help ASAP. undecided undecided

Call a spade, a spade. What justification made them to hike transport fare when in other parts of the country, the price remains unchanged. Na wa for people like u oo

If you look at transportation (especially flights) around the holiday period, in any country, it is almost always double (or treble) the cost in the slow season. This is not limited to Nigeria, and is not limited to Igbo transport.
Re: Lamentations As Igbo Transporters Exploit Igbo Commuters In South East by manny4life(m): 5:55pm On Jan 10, 2017
It's amazing to see how people are tripping over themselves over anything Igbo. The last I checked, British Airways more than tripled a flight ticket to Lagos, even British citizens paid the same fare. Domestic flights in Lagos are no exception to this rule, why singling out the Igbo's as an exception is simply amazing. No one forced you to travel home, drive your car and avoid the expense, this is simply business. If you feel the need to help others, simply start your own transportation business and help. I mean, if all the noisemakers on here deployed their Sienna's, and discounted their prices, I'm sure people wouldn't complain..

Can't you read that this is what they do every year? It is about Biafra. Who is going to populate the country if not the same mindless exploiters?

Well, with biafra in place, people won't have to travel en mass to Lagos and Abuja annually.

You don't have to respond to every critic on here, even in the U.S., transportation prices seem to double or even triple depending on the destination during the festive period. All I can tell you is this: whoever doesn't like their model should start their own business and discount prices how they wish. It's fair play, bus transportation isn't one that has a great barrier to entry.

I won't agree to the bolded. Most transit in other parts of the country did not experience t-fare hike bro.

Before when they can influence government to cause artificial scarcity of fuel during festivities to hide behind and exploit their fellow Igbos they did it successfully but now they couldn't influence Buhari to do that their evil mind is exposed.

Did Nigerians notice that we celebrated Christmas and new year without scarcity of fuel for the first time in 16 years?

Useless thread. See them cavorting all over the thread like kids.

Its simply demand and supply. The same thing happens to air transportation. Did you check the cost of flights? They increased by over a hundred percent during this period. How come nobody complained?
Using this an excuse to agitate for the continued existed of your useless country called Nigeria is nothing but stupidity and ignorance.
Igbos don't hate themselves. Nigerians as a whole hate themselves. That's why there's mass poverty and destruction all over the place.

You fail to get the point we are making, leave flight out of these.

Look at it this way, is there or was there any other tribe/region that complained of hike in TF while going and coming during this same period Igbo transporters hiked theirs? That's the point. Only igbos did that to who? Guess? Yes, to their fellow Igbo brothers, what necessitated it, that didn't affect or regional transport companies?

I wasn't referring to the Facebook posts; I was talking about the posts in this thread and the blatant hypocrisy many non-Igbos show against Igbos in Nigeria in order to demean and castigate them. I will show you examples when I come across them again.

How can you be referring to NL posts when the main center of attention is the facebook post. Ngozi, it is you that is filled with hypocrisy.. Your people are complaining and accusing their fellow brethrens who are ready to sell them to make money and you are here to look for people that will comment on NL while avoiding the main issue on ground. How dumb and cowardly. That's the exact same thing you and that other guy did on one other thread. This is very shameful what you did. SMH

I'm not avoiding the issue, if I complained about the issue at hand then I'd probably be called a 'wailing wailer' or whatever they call people who've got legitimate concerns over the way the country is being run. I was only highlighting people's hypocrisy, not just here but in real life as well, when it comes to Igbo people. I have a solution to this problem but saying it would probably get me banned so...

Btw, I do not appreciate your insults; it was rude and unnecessary. I'm glad that I was raised by a virtuous Igbo woman who taught me not to insult people no matter how upset I am with them. Goodbye.

I didn't insult you, rather I stated the obvious truth. Also, you can't be calling others hypocrite when you are no different from the hypocrites. You selectively came out to attack the people's comments here but avoided the main issue which involved your people's comments on facebook.

It wasn't an obvious truth, it was an insult. Do you know the meaning of 'insult'?

Anyway, I already said that if I were to suggest a solution for this problem then my post would probably be hidden or I would get a ban. The issue at hand is far greater than a few bus conductors asking for a few extra naira so why would I focus on that? The mentality of most Nigerians starts from the top and until that changes, everything will stay the same.
