whats the best way to source for AUD, i want to kickoff my assessment with ACS (Computer science).
Also am planning to engage a migration agent but it appears this forum has majority of questions answered even though its mostly engineering related.

You don't need an agent if you have gone through the post here except you have some money to dash out. Your perception that the post here is mostly for engineers is wrong, you have people from various fields including medicine. Many have gone through assessment with ACS including me.
As regards payment, many have proposed different approach from @Bellong to @Jamson to @mamajazz and all the gurus in the house. Just choose the one that pays you more.

Information was not verified but you lose nothing if you walk up to a registered BDC to make enquiries. N399 to a dollar not bad if it checks out.

Update: Learnt it's just about $8k per BDC

399/$ is the rate cbn sold to BDCs, please don't mistake that with the bdc rate to end users of the currency.

This is not correct based on the interview granted by the president of Association of BDC on Bussiness Morning. This is the information posted on their website "NOTICE OF THE CBN APPROVED RATES FOR THE DISBURSEMENT OF IMTO PROCEEDS FOR THE WEEK 16TH JAN TO 20TH JAN 2017

1/17/2017

We wish to inform all ABCON members and the general public that the CBN approved rates for the disbursement of IMTO proceeds to BDCs for the week 16th Jan to 20th Jan 2017 are:- 1. Funding Rate-N381/USD 2. Selling Rate-N399/USD Also note that the volume to be sold to each BDC is US8,000.00 Thank you. Uduma, Cletus O Executive Secretary"

It is also correct that each operator got 8,000USD and i am so sure you cannot get to buy at the rate quoted by BDC of N399 to Dollar.

Information for some of us that are preparing for PTE.

You can also make use of google speech to text to practice pronunciation.

Start voice typing in a document
Check that your microphone works.
Open a document in Google Docs with a Chrome browser.
Click Tools and then Voice typing. A microphone box appears.
When you're ready to speak, click the microphone.
Speak clearly, at a normal volume and pace.
When you're done, click the microphone again.

Please I have a question. During my assessment, ACS cut down my number of years of experience. Now when submitting EOI, I was asked to provide my employment details from start date to end date. Do I use the cut down version from ACS or do I put in the actual period of my employment details.
Thanks!

I have come again..
Has anyone paid for assessment using a $ dorm account?
How much were you charged per $ for Aud?
I'm asking because I want to make payment using someone's dorm account and he wants to know how much $ before he agrees.

Also, the documents to be certified? Is it normal black and white photocopy or coloured?

Last question, did anyone do their document certification in a court on the island? Pls which?
I asked a friend who works in the court in Ikeja and she was mentioning a ridiculous amount and you guys already mentioned here that it's 100 per page.

Thank you

Thanks OP. Have you tried it yourself? What percentage of your speech did it pick correctly?

I have used a lot of speech to text SW both on my phone and PC. The more I used them, the more demoralized I became (not until Jamson.....a PTE legend here warned me against using them) ....I have junked them all.

I believe they are designed for native speakers only, not for accented people like us.

Try switch your TV to CNN, put the volume reasonably high and activate any speech to text SW's speaker, u will see that it will pick the CNN native speaker's speech 100%. Meanwhile, if you an accented speaker shouts from now till tomorrow, it will only pick a fragment of your speech (for me about 50%).

@OP, i will like you to try it and relate your experience.

I just hope that is not what PTE uses in scoring people.

i cant say for sure, am yet to commence my assessment but however according my research and consultations , its better to go with ACS assessment so as to avoid conflict of information since all the steps are linked together.

Also, how long did your assessment take.

PTE is more accurate than all these softwares. Their algorithm has taken care of lots of native languages. In addition to E2 language videos, check out the ones by Navjot brar, she's Indian, you will gain one or two things.

Oh! I see, thanks.

Yeah, I have seen her video....very educative. But she also mentioned that one should use speech to text SWs (she even suggested 2) and ensure up to 90% match.

@bellong:

From readings on page 0, you show no much support for the subclass 489 visa due to the lack of support from government. E.g medicare.

Apart from the above, can you please highlight any other downside to this visa category. Is it that it might be impossible or difficult in some cases to be able to convert to a permanent visa after the first two years elapses?

Cheers

Don't have idea on dorm account.

For document certification, I did mine at Lagos state High court VI, located behind TBS. Walk into the court compound and ask for office where documents are certified, when I did mine late last year 2016 its between #100-200 max.

Yes, just make photocopy of your documents (yes...black and white)

Please make sure you cut it down. Provide all employment details, but ONLY tick as relevant the years approved by ACS.. If not, be sure your application will be refused as you'll be making a Bogus Claim.. Claim only years indicated on outcome.

Lol@ PTE legend. If na by software ni...chaiii.... I am wondering how one will be able to naturally flow with new 'pronunciation skills' in a tensed exam condition without sounding awkward. I have not said it is entirely useless making use of speech to text software. If it works for you, fine and if otherwise, don't waste your time on it. IMO, it is almost impossible to overhaul your pronunciation within one or two months of PTE preparation. It is like changing your accent within a short period of time and expect to be proficient at it.

I managed to pull a 90 in speaking without using any pronunciation app. You can pronounce all you want and still fall short of the 79. How did I know this? Pronunciation is just one of several other pointers set to appraise you, they include vocabulary, oral fluency, grammar, content, form etc. If your pronunciation is not matching 97% on a prep software, you can shift your weight onto other pointers to balance the score.

Work on your speed, pauses around fullstops and commas. Also use stresses appropriately around phrases. All this can be clearly observed and learnt from the way newscasters read.

This is true. I pulled off that voice switch perfectly only because I don dey practice am for years.. .. Its basically my default accent and intonation for mimicking female speech... Anytime I wan report what a girl said, na hin I dey enter that voice mode, since uni days, .. .. . It would have been quite difficult to master and maintain it in exam conditions otherwise..

Thanks Bnimz, been waiting to have your view on this. Just wanted to be sure the feed backs I've been getting from those soft wears are not reflections of my potential scores in PTE speaking. Because if they are.....na on top long thing I dey o!

Another thing that i noticed with Google speech to text is that you need to have a good internet connection. I got accuracy lose to 90% when using a good internet connection but it drops significantly if am in a place that has slow internet connection.

To everyone who is as bothered as i am about sourcing for AUD.

The harsh reality is that its very difficult and time wasting.

the elders in this forum have spoken.
Option 1: success rate 100% / very fast and secured/ more expensive

The fastest way to go is DORM ACCOUNT funded with Black market and if u r lucky with BDC also.

Option 2: Slow / susceptible to fraud/ Bearable cost

Have a contact in Australia who is willing to exchangeAUD$ for the NGN which u will send to there relative locally

Option 3: Limited/ secured / Moderate Cost / susceptible to fraud

Send Western Union/ Money-gram to a pal in AU, they can lodge the funds into the necessary accounts (either theirs or payee account)
western union is limited to about $1000, not sure its per month or day. and u have to be in the bank by 6am cos the allocation gets exhausted by 8:05am.
Moneygram is limited to 330,000 per quarter and its difficult receiving it in Australia.

PS: I'm not an expert on these, am just sharing my findings , please feel free to correct me. Thank you all grin

Good day everyone,

Thanks to everyone providing guidance to us all here. May God bless u and the work of your hands, started reading this thread a few days ago but it will take weeks for me to complete so please forgive me if some of my questions have been answered.

I am 32 years old, to be 33 in August. I am married with 2kids and I am the principal applicant in our quest to apply for oz PR class 189

I have B. sC in accounting
MBA
Over 7 years experience in banking operations although I haven't been working for over a year
I wrote IELTS last year with overall score 7.5 although in general module.

My questions are, can I use ielts general module for accounting occupation?
Could banking operations be regarded as closely related to accounting occupation? fellow bankers Pls assist
With these statistics, do I have any hope of getting at least 65? When I calculated I had 70 with spouse skill assessment, but even that we ain't too sure of because of discrepancy between course read and current occupation.

Kindly advise please.
