Western Media will never show you Justin Timberlake performing for a packed audience at Eko Hotel hall or people eating buffet at Transcorp Hilton Hotel or hardworking Nigerians building a flyover in Abaliki, its only the slums they focus and show to their people about Africa. nonsense

This article stinks... So many lies. My friend works with an organization that specializes in carrying out free HIV tests in Lagos. Being an extremely extroverted person, they chose him as one of the people to tests prostitutes in brothels. He said he was shocked to find out that more regular girls have HIV when compared to those brothel prostitutes. He said just about 2% of the prostitutes he tests usually have HIV. Please note that my friend does one on one tests, and doesn't base his data on speculation. And he has been doing this since 2015.
This is what many people don't know. These brothel prostitutes will not in a chance in Hell have unprotected sex with any unknown male. But girls who aren't prostitutes don't even think twice...

I asked a doctor friend who commit abortion more, between prostitutes and girls who don't prostitute. He told me girls who don't prostitute commit more abortion and they give STI's more than prostitutes.

The Angels of Death: Inside the squalid brothels of Nigeria where tens of thousands of HIV-positive prostitutes are fuelling an AIDS epidemic claiming 10 million lives a year

-Series of photographs shows sex workers in Lagos, Nigeria's largest city, living in squalid conditions
-Nearly a quarter of prostitutes in Nigeria have HIV, recent studies found
-Research into attitudes has found concerning attitudes toward condom use and safe sex
-There are an estimated 1.2 million people in Lagos living with HIV

The report is not correct!!! Totally baseless
With considerable certainty, the reporter did not carry out enough investigation before putting up his subjective opinion. How was the research conducted? What where the yardsticks?

Consequently, most Lagos hotel prostitutes are living larger than an average girl on the street feigning girlfriend/boyfriend to prostitute. Even larger than an average corporate female worker living in Lagos and Abuja, hence the upsurge in diurnal and nocturnal prostitution in Lagos streets. Girls want to live the life.

The images above may not genuinely be from Lagos.

That being said, an average girl in Lagos neighborhood who is into boyfriend/girlfriend is more prone to STD & HIV/AIDS infections than an average hotel prostitute in Lagos.

I still doubt the report is borne out of investigative journalism.

Those idiots wouldn't see good things to report about African except slums, rapes and other social vices.

Thank God we have photographers like TY Bello who are portraying our good qualities.

The Nigerian photographers in the UK who should be telling us about the social vices in the UK so as to deter illegal immigrants will be there showing UK affluence.
My guy I bet you that this photographer is one of your own,I doubt that a white photographer will do a thing like this, especially publicly embarrass poor women like this, without thinking of getting sued.

It's well.

Nigerians never like to admit there's a problem. It was also a British nationality who noticed the plight of children being accused of being child witches in Akwa Ibom, Nigeria, while on a project in Nigeria, then proceeded to creating a foundation to rescue them. This photographer's only helping to create awareness and going by the number of people here saying it's not Lagos because of pride, ignorance or stupidity, awareness is def needed.

Re: Lagos Prostitutes Featured By British Photographer In Dailymail Report (Photos) by tolajay:
This report is a mesh of falsehood, misrepresentation and delusive thoughtlessness.

Those images do not in anyway represent any part of Nigeria. The presented statistics are faulty, inaccurate and disparaging.

To say the least, this is not journalism, rather an anti-development propaganda against Nigerians and its citizenry.

So the idiot reporter flew into Lagos probably checked into a five star hotel on the island and then drove to Badia to report on HIV infected prostitutes. This is why I always hate it when I see Nigerians worshipping this albino devils including here on NL with all the oyinbo marriages like we supposed to give a fvck.

Well done oyibo! Honestly clap for yourselves!

I love the way the portray Nigeria negatively; c'mon, they should be rewarded for their consistency, after all consistency is a virtuous trait [detect sarcasm]

On a more serious note, this is very ironic and people should better inform themselves.

I can say on record that it is the British former colonial 'masters' that started ashawo culture in Lagos.

This can be traced back to the 1930s: during this period, there were a number of British white colonial administrators in Lagos (and other parts of Nigeria of course), most of which were male and had their wives back home in England mostly, but also other parts of the UK. Anyway, they missed the marital kpekus and so they sought to approach young local girls, average age of 14 and would exchange sex for food/provisions, money and/or any other type of benefit that appealed to the young ladies.

This began to become a more common practice and lasted up until circa 1943 when the chief colonial administrator (sorry can't remember his name) put a stop to this due to the outbreak of venereal diseases, otherwise known as sexually transmitted infections. However, this didn't stop the trade and it continued up until the present day.

The above is curated from PhD research into Gender-relations in Nigerian Political Economy.
