We did not have any growing economy, let alone, the fastest. Crude was sold at exorbitant prices and we sold at exorbitant quantities finish. We were producing nada, importing starch (cassava) and Toothpicks (Chewing Stick).

once again you people will just come here and pull facts out of your asses without doing your research.

Below are links to dispute your ignorance. I wonder how you can believe that only crippling oil prices make our economy bad like this. Like Obasanjo didn't face the same thing at one time coupled with the militancy of MEND too.

Nice post. Unfortunately, many will not look into the message. Apart from my disappointment in our so called stars during the rots we encountered, I do not buy the motive. I am no more interested in who feels the current government is failing. I am interested in solution providers. This is what I expect Tuface to look for. Instead of marching youths out to slaughter.

There are channels to get our voices heard. There are channels to show our potentials. Instead we want to carry placards, screaming enough is enough. Is that honestly a solution to our problems?

It is time for the youths to wake up and start proposing solutions to move the nation forward.

A wise man once said, he who washes his hands well, eats with Kings.
[/quote
So when the Isrealites were in bondage Moses went and started proposing solutions to Pharaoh? You say they are channels to get our voices heard yet you oppose one of the most ancient and most potent of channels people have used to get their voices heard. We will suffer for a long time in this country. Nothing will save us. Our thinking is abysmally poor. Men with dirty hands, very dirty hands have eaten with Kings. Even Kings themselves have very dirty hands.

Please, Obama blamed George Bush Jr repeatedly. Get that right. What separates Obama from lots of youths today was even as a student, he was making strides to make America better.

yes, you are right about Obama blaming bush but he didn't start blaming bush until late 2011/2012 when he had started getting things straight.

Once again, you can make your research before you counter me because I already have proofs for these facts.

I guess you believe the fall in Crude Oil prices did not affect Egypt, Venezuela etc.

Very shocking you expected growth in a mono driven economy after Crude Oil prices dropped. Like seriously.

The wages and number of work force increased. Subsidy prices trippled under GEJ. Importation sky rocketed under GEJ and you want the economy to operate like how it was under OBJ?

The Placard is noise and what will the government take home from that. What are the solutions proposed from these Protest? Nothing. If you get that, you get my point.

We need a framework to lift this nation up. Then we need avenues to propagate the message. Then we need to take action to implement it. Not Placard shouting enough is enough.

We should think of how to fix Nigeria's problems and not carry Placard. If the current government lack ideas to solve our problems, will the Placard put the ideas in their heads.

We need to think of solutions and how to propagate them to the government to act on them. Not carrying Placards and shouting.
Government will never act on any solution proposed to it. Forget it. Go back in time. Tell me just one single problem the government of this country has solved. just one- ebola. I for one detest the idea of government. no man has the right to rule over me. Government is just a necessary evil. And know it that there ain't one way to solve a problem. Placards do solve problems, protests do solve problems. At the heart of this protest are certain realities some people want to turn a blind eye to. But if at all no solution is preferred at least people get to let the government know that there's suffering in the land. Have you ever been in government? Have you enjoyed the perks and comforts that go with government in Nigeria? If we keep quiet I swear we will suffer more than yesterday.

Egypt isn't even a major oil exporting country and they aren't a member of OPEC. Venezuela is the only member of OPEC you mentioned and Venezuela economy has been tumbling since the death of Chávez in 2012.

What about Other members of OPEC like Saudi, Angola, Kuwait, Oman etc. Why aren't they experiencing what we are experiencing too? is it this bad for them?

And do you honesty believe this government --which said it would stop subsidy and repair our refineries-- isn't still paying subsidy? What do you think the landing cost they are paying oil marketers is for?

How an educated man like yourself can honestly absolve this administration of any wrong doing baffles me. Wake up, man!

Yes, we voted and campaigned for them but still lets hold them accountable. There is nothing wrong in doing that. GEJ is gone for good. Buhari should do something that will make us remember him for good when he is gone too. Let us not remember him the same way we still remember Jonathan.

That's all I have to say.

Saudi Arabia also went through high inflation of goods and services. They faced massive economic challenges. Worst in a very long time.

I am not believing this government. I am not talking about being partisan. I am stating clearly that the present youths should stop following and start leading. Think of solutions and work to achieve it. This protest is offering no solution. If I was pro this administration, will I talk of us looking for solutions?

Ok, lets agree that he blamed bush. He didn't still sit down idly putting USA into more recession, he brought them out of it and took the unemployment rate to one of the lowest levels ever in the history of America.

Our own Buhari is still blaming GEJ without doing nothing and increasing the suffering of people he is meant to be governing.

Yes, Bruh. I agree with you that this protest is offering no solution. It's one of the reason why I'm not even going to join them. But if this protest will let the people in power know that people aren't in support of the way there are ruling, I see no wrong in the protest.

We should stop all this Buhari talk. I did not for a second expect Buhari to wave a magic wand to salvage our economy. I noticed the massive wastage during GEJ's reign and I knew it will take a lot of work to wipe this wastage away.

We are suffering the repercussions of this wastage. I wanted GEJ out because I knew the wastage will reduce. Evidence from our growing reserves. Something we could not achieve before.

For economic growth, which we desperately need, it will take more than Buhari or a protest to achieve it. It will take millions of hard working youths to come up with ideas and strive to achieve it.

It will take smart youths coming up with innovative and sustainable solutions to create industries. It will take us working hard to get these solutions to the tables of the government.

Without us working hard and getting these solutions first, what we are doing is making noise.

How can our Currency grow if we do not start producing? If not the ban of rice, we would not even plant it. The bankers have zero ideas on how to promote local production.

The Civil servants are playing and gisting in their offices. You see lack of productivity around us.

We the youths need to wake up. We also have ourselves to blame. We need to start making small efforts to fix the economy. Manufacture at small scale and apply for soft loans.

There is so much that can take me time writing. So many issues we must address before talking government.

I do agree with you one this. Completely in fact. But the was the situation is now, the system isn't helpful to entrepreneurs. Banks borrow loans at exorbitant interest rates, the SMEs can't access forex for stuff they need while pilgrims get $$ at ₦197 for pilgrimage. How does this help a youth who wants to be an entrepreneur?

The system is against them. That's why whichever way we still have to blame the FG because they are the ones who'll dictate how the system helps this youth.

I have faith in this country, I really. But mehn, it's so hard to keep faith in something that's decaying.

Buhari should man up and be the man of integrity we thought him to be during the campaigns. He should reshuffle his cabinet and try one or two new things. it's never too late to turn this around.

Yes. Government aka the state is a deep thing. Many great thinkers have rightly identified it as a veritable evil. With so much capacity to do good, yet it does great and unspeakable evil. It is the duty of every patriot to protect his country from its government. Let the protest hold. If nothing is achieved at least people will get their voices heard and there's nothing more powerful than the voice. Silence is the grave.

This is exactly what I want. I want us addressing the issues and I want the youths at the forefront proffering solutions. Buhari can not address high interest rate of loans without youths coming out with financial strategies of how the government can work with banks to give loans. There should be a plan to retrieve these loans at appropriate time. It could be long term loans, small funds with little interest.

This is the kind of thinking I want from the youths today. Not someone who ate with those who squandered our resources leading our young minds to slaughter.

Nice chatting with you.

Before we ask Buhari to reshuffle his cabinet, we need a young bright man ready for the position, with laid down ideas that can transform the nation. He should have a blueprint, with a timetable. Ready. Then, we can cry out for getting government to put that person in power. We can contribute and put the person on air to share his ideas.

I need us active and not docile anymore.

To them that have ear let them hear.

This protest can be liken to mmm warning yet Nigerians didnt yield to it.

What is the aim of the protest most persons don't know. Are we calling for the president to resign or put food for our table? me I no no o!

I think as right thinking members of the society we ought to ask our inner sefs basic questions before embarking on this sojourn of a protest.

I sense the essence been for personal motive rather than for good of the common man
