Oh i see. Your aunt's best bet would be through the CANADA EXPRESS ENTRY under the Federal skilled workers sub category. She would need to create a profile, include all supporting documents to prove that she has X amount years working in a bank as a (for exmaple branch manager; please note that she has to check the most updated list of eligible occupations under the Federal Skill Workers Sub category to ensure her occupation is on it).

She would also include info on her family, age, education and work experience and she would need ro have some money which i believe is 12,000 for her as the principal applicant and 2,000 per dependent.

She would also be looking and writing an english exam; preferably IELTS (general), and she should attain the highest possible scores per aspect (speaking, writing, reading and listening). Also she would need to get a document that translates her educational qualification from Nigerian to Canadian. This can be gotten from WES (World Education Services) located in Toronto because is is a required document.

The other route for your aunt woyld be to get a Provincial Nomination which is quite tricky to get unless she has a relative who lives in the Atlantic provinces of Newfoundland, New Brunswick or Nova Scotia, the western provinces of Saskatchewan or Manitoba. These provinces have this family spinsorship where a canadian
Citizen or permanent resident can show that thwy have relevant ties to those provinces and they are will to be suppotive of New immigrants. If that works out (which is a high probability), the would get a Provincial Nomination certificate which is an almost 100% guarantee of getting her PR.

Please know that i am just giving you general info about this things while i am multitasking so i would recommend that your aunty reads up on the intricate details from www.cic.gc.ca

You can email me for more info

Yes i quite agree with you. But i really don't think prices would increase. the Canadian government even have a lot to gain with the influx of young and well educated international students so they would equally create soft landing policies that would motivate more international students.

In fact, the government can even decide to waive application fees for the countries affected by Trump's executive order. For example the University of Manitoba now waive such for applicants from those countries for fall 2017 admission, Check here

http://umanitoba.ca/faculties/graduate_studies/admissions/programs/index.html

I'm even projecting the possibility of the government/institutions reducing the international tuition fees if consideration is given to the Canadian Federation of Students petition on the high fees paid by international students, just as stated on the link you posted.

My assertion is that Canada has a very large land mass and will continue to need more people, not just ordinary people but highly skilled and professional people with the potential of contributing immensely to its economy which is a win win situation for them.

They collect our international tuition fee, which adds up to their international inflow, and also create immigration policies (PR Route) that allow us to use the knowledge gained from their institution for canada's economic and societal growth.

Please who send me all this my story self.
grin

SURGEE

I agree, all makes sense. Trump is quickly destroying America's economy.

Their response was that my app is still in queue for review. That they will contact me wen a decision is made on my app. my question is this, wat have they been doing since last year? Reviewing applications? Am nt happy at all.

Mrsirdam, please I would like to know what chances there are of getting a job match through the job bank. Having about 3 years cumulative working experience here in Nigeria, also how easy or difficult it might be to get a pn nomination thru an uncle, just trying to get a rough idea before I start the process. I checked my eligibility on the website and it says I have all the requirements to apply for federal skilled worker.
BTW, I don't understand what you meant by most updated list of eligible applications, I didn't notice that part on the website. I sent you a pm tho.

I am very gratefull for the incite and detailed response. Hope the weather there @Edmonton is amiable.

The tuition cost for University of Alberta which I would go for is $13,821CAD.

I earlier stated that I expect an additional 3m into my account in a week time, would this not be considered as a case of money lodgment? Or would it be better for that amount to come in as a transfer from my proposed sponsor for easy explanation.

Thanks once again for the response.

You are welcome man. The weather out here in cold but i guess you would have no choice but to live through it but dressing warm in layers and investing in at least one very good winter Jacket.

if the tuition cost is estimated on the website as 13, 821 please budget 20,000 because my sister that just got here had her tuition estimated at 14,800 for a nursing program but it ended up being 19,800 dollars. For the sake of the Visa Office though, the 13,800 should be fine. So you are looking at 13,900 + 12,000 (maintenance money) = roughly $27,000 CAD. Ensure that the two statement of accounts you are submitting to the embassy have at least the 27,000 and money sufficient for your co-sponsor to have to cater fro himself and his family (10,000 for him and 2,000 for each dependent. He would also have to swear an affidavit of sponsorship and he might have to drop his own family details, pay slips or business invoices and other proofs that he makes his money legitimately.

I strongly believe that you should be good to go with a statement of account of 9 Million naira though. In my sister's case, she only had 4 Mill in her account but she had paid 14,800 out of tuition fees before applying and she submitted the proof of payment with the application as well. This was in July of 2016 and the visa was ready in 2 weeks!

The eligible occupation list is updated every so often to meet up with the current trend in the Canadian work force shortage. That info is on this link http://www.immigration.ca/fast-track-high-demand-occupations/#Occupation (please note that this is not a government of Canada webpage but it is a trusted link that i have used over years).

Now getting the provincial nomination through an uncle gives you a high chance especially in Manitoba because over there, a friend can also sponsor you regardless of the no-bloodline relationship.

Finally, to get a job match through www.jobbank.gc.ca is somewhat rare but people with high qualifications and work experience in the Information Technology and many Engineering background have a higher chance from my own personal experience. Also, one avenue that many Nigerians refuse to tap into is FEDERAL SKILL TRADE CATEGORY. If you are a trades person (eg Plumber, Carpenter, Painter, Auto mech, Welder, etc etc) and you have documents to back up your trade like certificates or diplomas that you can get from technical institutions and polytechnics or even "freedom" from your trainers, and you also pass the language test (usually General IELTS), you actually have a better chance of immigrating because very people individuals use this route from Naija.

I am not too familiar with how to use the PM service on nairaland so where do i check for the PM

thanks

You can staple or use file tags or both. There is no stringent rule for arranging documents. Go to VAC with your documents in your envelope, when you are submitting, they would remove them from the envelope and bag/file the documents before they are sent to Accra, Ghana.

Gurus in the house, please what is the time line after medicals? Just linked the paper application with cic online account, and it shows medical passed! Will CIC sent an email requesting for other documents or just to keep checking the online account for further instructions. Thank you for your response in advance.

P.S: For people planning to stay back and get their PR after studies in Canada, please narrow your school search to the Atlantic Provinces (Newfoundland, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick). The Government of Canada just came up with a pilot project for graduates of schools from this province that enable them to get PR after studies. Please check this link for more information: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/atlantic/index.asp
Thanks for this very important information. God bless you

you can staple a document that has more than one page. Don't spiral bind cos Vac officials will still rearrange your documents. They will also put it in their own bag for transmission to Accra.

Good mrng great nairalander.
Applied for my TRV 14th Nov and got refused. Studeied computer science and my proposed study is software engineering a diploma program. The Reason for refusal was - others YOUR PROPOSED STUDIES ARE NOT RESONABLE IN LIGHT OF ONE OR MORE OF : YOUR QUALIFICATION , PREVIOUS STUDIES, EMPLOYMENT LEVEL OF ESTABLISHMENT , OR YOUR FUTURE PROSPECTS OR PLANS). Seems this reason is very common as i hv seen ppl with this reason of refusal online. Pls i need the guru to kindly guide me on the next step to go.. tanx

Hi Efosases,

Sorry to hear about your refusal. It's quite painful really. One thing to clarify before answering your question, how many years of work experience do you have and in what area have you been specializing?

Refusing you based on this ground is usually because your application did not tell a complete logical story of your Bachelors, work experience and why you are applying for the program you currently applied to study.

The best way to go about this is to make sure your letter of explanation and personal statement tell a logical story that is believable to the Visa officer. Have you been working in the field of software development prior to this moment? Why a Diploma program and not a Masters? What will you do with the Diploma program upon graduation? What is your long term career goal?

All these are important factors to consider in your letter of explanation and application in general.

I hope this helps you? I believe you can still reapply just tweaking all these factors I highlighted.

Actually, you may not find sufficient information regarding tourist or visit to canada on this thread as there are not widely discussed here. Study related issues are mainly discussed here.
Here is the link to the tourist/visit forum on nairaland. You will find useful information for your wife's application.
