buddyosan:I think the university should take down the announcement that students can now make payments. Personally I paid N20,000 with an RRR pin I generated from my portal and up till the time of this writing(one week now), it still hasn't reflected in my portal. The university management owe the students some explanation or take the announcement down. That is the proper thing to do. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Anonymous source in the NOUN mgt here in Jabi HQ abuja as confirmed this morning that returning students might not be able to access the new portal until about ending of 2017 due to non-availability of old student data as being held up by cyberspace. The school says this will definitely affect the release of last semester's results and some graduating students. It is believed that mgt will have no option but to resort to manual registration of returning students this semester. Since the portal is not expected back up until about ending of 2017 due to disagreement between noun/cyberspace, students are therefore advised to visit their SC for further instructions on course/exam registration. Director, National Open University of Nigeria, Owerri Study Center, Dr Mrs Theresa Ettu, has just confirmed that www.nouonline.com is authentic and the correct portal reportedly launched recently by National Open University of Nigeria. Now, the most important development is that the portal is confirmed to be authentic and owned by the school. What then should be understood is that the development of the portal is still not complete. At the moment, though Remita could be generated and payments made, - the funds are not being reflected on the e-wallet, and therefore, courses and exams cannot be registered - Application forms for admission cannot be completed - Balance carried forward on the e-wallet are not reflected - We cannot view our past semester exam results - History of our e-wallet transactions are also not available All these lapses are just temporary. The school is working round the clock to rectify all these. Students are advised to start making payments, second week of February, 2017. Patience therefore remains the keyword here. 1 Like 1 Share |

Prof. SAM. Admin, Great NOUN students forum Good morning everyone, after a brief meeting with model study centre director and Vice Counsellor, today I came to realise that the school is working really hard for our favour, the school has also promised to add marks to our previous exams, he also warned against students making payments through the new portal and made it clear that there won't b any refunds if any issues comes up after payments he stressed that we should remain calm as things gradually gets back on track...Pls note that the new portal will officially commence 2week of February, for the main time let's relax and watch... |

The National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) has designated the Uyo Study Centre as its hub of operation in the South South. Vice chancellor of the school, Prof. Abdalla Uba Adamu, who spoke at the inauguration of the new centre said, “The reason the university is particularly interested in the Uyo Study Centre is that management of the university has decided that the Uyo Study Centre should be the hub of operation of the university in the South South region.” Represented by registrar of the institution, Mr. Felix Edoka, the vice chancellor commended the accomplishments of the state governor, Deacon Udom Emmanuel, in the area of education, describing him as a champion of education. The ultra-modern centre located at Udo Udoma Avenue in the Uyo metropolis, was donated recently to the school by the state government, in order to boost its activities, especially in the area of enrolment of students’ enrollment. Director of NOUN’s Learner Support Services (LSS), Professor Stanley Ngoa, described Governor Emmanuel as a large-hearted leader who is passionate about the education of his people. He pledged that NOUN would do its best in educating the people of the state, adding that the facility would be utilised judiciously and optimally. Ngoa explained that the choice of Uyo as the operational hub of the university in the region was informed by the fact that the state has a great potential for growth and is relatively more peaceful than any other state in the region. Acting director of the centre, Dr. Angela Abaa, thanked the government for resolving the endemic accommodation challenge that plagued the study centre for years. She called on the people of the state to take advantage of the excellent facility provided by the state government and enroll in the university. |

‘Varsities need to improve on devt and use of ICT’ UNIVERSITIES in Nigeria have been advised to scale up the development and use of Information and Communication Technology, not just at the infrastructure and human capacity levels, but also in content delivery. The director, Distance Learning Centre (DLC), University of Ibadan, Oyo State, Professor Bayo Okunade, made the call on Thursday at the opening of a two-day ‘Advocacy and Training Workshop on ODL Skills’ held at the Professor Isaac Folorunso Adewole (PIFA) Hall of the Centre, Ajibode Extension, Ibadan. He said that dual-mode universities (which all providers of Open Distance Learning in Nigeria currently are) particularly need to increase the use of ICT in teaching and learning in their regular (or conventional) content delivery. This, he noted, would in turn enhance the capacity of facilitators on the ODL mode. “The transition from the purely well entrenched part-time programme to ODL was cumbersome because we continue to operate at the very conventional level. “It has been very easy for many universities in Europe, Asia and the United States of America to be dual-mode because they have largely subscribed to technology on the regular mode and with special reference to OER (Open Educational Resources),” he noted. He noted particularly that skills and competencies of ODL are not peculiar to the mode, but are skills required for driving education in the 21st century. The two-day workshop, he explained, was meant for not only the drivers of ODL but all involved in the business of providing education, especially at the tertiary level. Also in his address, while declaring the workshop open, the vice chancellor, Professor Abel Idowu Olayinka, noted that the problem in the Nigerian university system is not just inadequate access but the inability to appropriate ODL tools into the conventional university resources. He thanked the President/CEO of the Commonwealth of Learning (COL), Professor Asha Singh Kanwar, for her presence at the workshop and for allowing the university to share from her wealth of knowledge. Both the pioneer vice chancellor of the National Open University of Nigeria, Emeritus Professor Olugbemiro Jegede, and Professor Kanwar presented papers at the opening day of the event. Jegede’s keynote paper was entitled ‘The Inevitability of ODL & Its Tools’. For more info about noun u can call or WhatsApp me 08185025045 1 Like |
