My Sister Got Duped At An ATM Point, Can I Get My Money Back? by Bishops10(m): 10:00am On Feb 04, 2017
Hello NL family, please is there any possibility of getting back my money?
here is my story.

On Tues 31-1-2017,I gave my Sister my ATM card to make a withdrawal for me at one of the banks in my area about an hour later,I started getting debit alerts above the supposed amount she was to withdraw.
I started calling her line but it wasn't available, I had to rush down to the bank to know what's happening and on getting there,my sis started narrating how she tried withdrawing and the ATM couldn't pay her
And someone behind her told her the ATM isn't dispensing cash that she should cancel it and bring out the card. They guy brought out the card himself and slot it back(Unknowingly to my sis,he slot in another card that is not mine) and immediately left.So she tried entering my pin again but it was saying incorrect pin and the ATM swallowed the card.
*It was at this point that my sis got confused and started calling me by then I've already started receiving alerts.
*Aside withdrawals, the culprit paid for some goods through POS(details in the picture attached)
*yesterday I went to collect the CCTV footage from The bank and the guy smartly covered his face(picture attached (

Please guys I seriously need this money back,is there another way to go about it since his face isn't showing,Bankers in the house help me out please.

First, I will start by saying don't be disheartened. there are many people DAT have lost money including myself, d pain is suicidal. COncerning this issue, blocking the card is the most important. everyone reading this thread must endeavor to put their bank customer service on speed dial Not just ur account officer number, especially dos using debit and credit cards.
Now u have blocked d card and officially reported to the police give the issue to GOD,as far as u did not steal DAT money and u pay ur tithe, your money will be returned back to u..I bet u.

This is why one needs to be careful when interacting with strangers at public ATM points. The thief swiftly switched the cards right under your sister's nose and she didn't notice. Sorry OP, I don't think you can get your money back. May God compensate you with more than what you lost. Hope you've blocked the card already?

Your case is very touching so much that i felt pained the way i never did before.

But honestly there's nothing you can do about matter than to inform your bank so they block the card or try to investigate the identity of the card he left behind.

But this is a lesson to all not to allow anyone move closer when using the ATM machine not to talk rendering.

The bank where the card got stuck said they can't give me the card though I don't need it,by Monday I will go to the back and tell them to investigate the card and probably tell them to give me the CCTV footage of the time he was behind my sis (That's if its possible)
bro I'm just confused

I'm afraid the bank cannot reverse the transaction as withdrawals has been made. I understand how you're feeling right now, may God put everything in place in good time. It's not easy losing hard earned money, take heart.

Wow.. This is so bad.
I really doubt anything can be done about it.
If the bank/your account officer had been contacted earlier, the ATM would have been deactivated.
Guess it only leaves you to contact the place where the goods were bought via POS and try to track the dude.
You can also check the bank branches where the withdrawals were made to see if you could get his face.

Pitiful how the money got lost. God will look into your case.

This is a clear case of laziness. They 'help' you folks with everything, even withdrawing your own money. Can't you do your chores, can't you be patient in a queue, can't you be patient to learn how things work and how to get things done. Yet you don't have the resources to risk and waste. If a single ATM card can wreck this much havoc on your finances and cause worldwide publicity then you should not be handing you card to just anybody, I mean anyone at all. It is the rich that don't do cards, don't do queues and don't moan about people pilfering from their stash. C'mon, wake up.

Your sister was careless. Some people are gullibly careless. The world is about Chicken and hawks. Your sister choose to be a chicken. She has learnt a lesson at a ridiculously expensive price.

You can't get the money back. You just have to pray for provision from elsewhere. Going to an Alfa is a waste of time also.

Take the lesson, teach others and let go. The thief would be caught someday even though not by you

So annoying. Get the dropped card and get details from it. The bank should investigate

The last transfer could be the guys account , note that the bulk of the money went there. The police or the bank should be able to help in that regard.

Am so sorry about this...u should even thank God it wasn't more than 100k, I had issues like that..my uncle went to withdraw 300k from the bank and robbers followed him and collected the money....nothing could be done cos if my uncle used my way I suspected the cashier that attended to him...most fraudsters in Nig go scot-free....I know how u r feeling and that this aren't things u wanna hear but how u could get ur money back, just forget about it
