Stellyhardy:did you declare ur previous bsc (agriculture) in your application? then at what age are you going for another bsc? you need alot to proof to convince the VO. bsc program always need buoyant financial power over a long period of time, so i wasnt surprised with the reason pointed by the VO, the continuity of your study over the years is wot is considered not your present bal, you must be able to convince the VO with a very sure and good source of money that can take care of ur studies over time. i'll advice you should still give M.sc a shot if ur CGPA is sound. |

Thanks for replying,I am 23years old and yes that was the only reason marked. I wrote a very strong sop where I mentioned I that I already have a degree in agriculture. Graduated with a cgpa of 3.2 so I guess maters admission chance will be slim.i think I'll apply for diploma/ pgc...pls what universities/colleges offers course PGc/diploma courses in agriculture fields? Stellyhardy:Fortunately... The so called sharp mouth guy has given you a sound advise on choice of proposed program!!...(if you declared your initial Agric BSc) But as you said; its your choice to consider which is most suitable to you. Study recent posts and get more advises that can help your decision. Meanwhile... Note that N8m may equal to N0m under some circumstances.... Recent lodgement... Commensurable to your salary/earnings.... Irregular statement history! Just calm down and look back at thesoj recent post.... In case you wish to reapply though. Regards. |

freeradical:If u check gradcafe u will notice that admission offers have already bin given out in January. From my findings from previous applicants, I was told the admissions appen in january, and other applicant will only be offered admission, if the people offerred admission already reject the offer and this process will continue till end of April. So dear frnds, if u are yet to get an admission offer and UBC is ur only choice, u might have to start applying to other schs. However, We can stil all trust God dt some pple will reject their offer and we will b admitted... |

SURGEE:Seems for some reasons the admissions for this year is coming in a bit late. From trends last year, they had started giving out admissions by the end of January and by February 8 there were quite a few admissions out already. But this year I don't get the delay, and not just with Waterloo, quite a few other schools too. |
| Re: Travelling To Canada Part 11 by Osemigho: 2:44pm On Feb 08, 2017 |
elimsme:There is still time. Only few programs had given admission. I believe late February- mid March is when all but few programs would make final decisions. It will end with praises. We shall receive good news we desire and worked hard for. We will be favoured. |

All praise and worship belongs to Allah (SWT) for the approval of my TRV, which of his favors will I deny? None. Application Timeline: Online route and upfront medical Application and biometrics - Nov. 14 Medical passed - Dec 16 Passport request and passport submitted - Jan 31 Passport collected - Feb 7 correspondence letter - Feb 8 Programme: MEng Information Security, Concordia University Montreal Please I have a question @folaroyal, michv, thesoj, osemigbo and all other gurus in the house, my proposed programme has already started since January 9, 2017 and I can't meet up with the winter admission again according to the school. How do I solve this issue? Should I apply to defer my admission and apply for study permit extension here in Nigeria? Please, what's the best way to tackle this issue? Thanks Wish all TRV hopefuls success |
| Re: Travelling To Canada Part 11 by Nobody: 3:23pm On Feb 08, 2017 |
elimsme:Actually not exactly the case. With regards to the fall (September) term, January is usually early admissions for those (special strong) applicants that they definitely want to get, and usually those that had contact with a faculty prior and the faculty had strong interest in the student - and usually a very small percentage of admitted applicants. In general, the bulk of the responses is sent out between February and April (in some cases could be later). Students with top profiles usually get response first in February, along with reject decisions for the "really bad" applicants that they are definitely not gonna accept for not meeting some metrics (for example if your GPA, TOEFL or GRE is way below cutoff, or your profile clearly shows that you have no reason to be applying to said program) - if you start your SOP with "I fucking hate [insert school's name here]" you'd likely be in this group. At this point the applicants left ifln the pile are "considerable" applicants. That is, your profile isn't extremely better in comparison to other applicants, and your profile isn't so bad that they'd definitely reject you (you meet all initial cutoffs). Admission decisions at this point will be allocated based on availability of slots and comparison to other applicants on the pile. If the slots are filled, you will be waitlisted, with the assumption that someone occupying one of the slots might reject their offer. In the event that someone does, they then give consideration to the waitlisted applicants. This process is rather holistic and not as straight forward as one might assume. The idea of a strong applicant is rather subjective, for example, in escaping the waitlisted pile your area of interest is of great significance. If your area of interest is A, and the person who rejected his offer is in the area B, even if you had significantly better grades/scores, the next best applicant with similar interest in B will likely be selected over you. Disclaimer: This response is written based on my observation of Science and Engineering programs. Might be very subjective and may vary a bit. It also strictly applies to just fall (September) applicants. |

wiljen120:Ask program coordinator for best semester to resume. I think you don't need extension if your due entry date is close to the recommended semester. Anyways, I am a learner in the que you ask. Gurus will have better opinion. |

elimsme:Let me quote myself again January is usually early admissions for those (special strong) applicants that they definitely want to get, and usually those that had contact with a faculty prior and the faculty had strong interest in the student - and usually a very small percentage of admitted applicants.I never inferred that people aren't offered admissions in January. I simply pointed out that this is an exception rather than the norm. Virtually all of these applicants will be highly desirable applicants, cream of the top of the applicant pool and probably already had assurances from faculties/supervisor prior to application. If possible you may try inquiring from of any of them about their profile. |

wiljen120:Congratulation! You should apply to defer your admission to the next start date.Your TRV will give you a duration and time frame for you to enter canada. Depending on your program length, it could be valid for the duration of your program or less. You only need to defer your admission. I believe your TRV will be lengthy enough to allow you enter canada for the next start date of your program. CIC would definitely be aware that you can't resume for winter 2017 again. So they will issue a TRV that will cover next possible start date. Check the visa foil on your passport and you will find out the time frame you have to enter canada. All the best to you and congrats again. |

Megziflips:I think you are spot on with your analysis of masters admissions in Canada. Very strong applications are attended to before others. One of the schools I applied to McGill University sent me a mail two days back. Deadline for submission of all applications for my program was feb 1st. They said I met all d requirements for admission into the program and have been admitted only conditionally. That I secure a research supervisor before may 17th and get back to her to confirm my admission. My problem now is securing the supervisor. I've been getting series of sorry our lab is currently full and it's really discouraging. I know my emails to them are good enough for them to make positive decision to my favour. I even attach my CV, transcript, GRE score and sometimes work reference. What can I do differently to secure a research supervisor? |
