A two time NBA MVP, an NBA champion isn't LeBron rival?

A Two time mvp and 1 ring isn't a rival with a 4time mvp and 3 rings.

Curry benefited from a functioning GSW system.

So did Bron in Miami, especially during an Era when the conference had noting to offer the league.

A competition where we get to see good players, with the heart of a lion and balls of iron, get their own MVPs.

LeBron was a monster before going to Miami. He had two regular season MVPs before joining them, remember!

The argument is about functioning systems of both teams, which you raised, and not about individual greatness. The management of the Cavs, system and coaching were loggerheads with Bron, in comparison to Miami.

Would Bron have won his first 2 titles if he did not leave Cleveland? Miami offered him a better functioning system in comparison to Cleveland.

Yes sir! I agree with you. He won two titles thanks to a functioning system but we shouldnt forget that he won his first two MVPs in a dysfunctional system as well.

I hope you are not construing the onus of Bron Bron's interview, and my position on the argument.

Ofcourse you know I am not. I was indirectly suggesting 2 things:

1. That he was playing mind games with his response
2. That he doesn't decide what makes a rivalry (my message to Sapio)

Roland17:

I think Bron Bron was being particular about a perceived rivalry between himself and the chef Curry, and not between Cavs and the Warriors; which is also a rivalry.

Bron was irked by the seeming comparison of greatness between himself and chef Curry. I inferred from the interview that Bron did not consider Curry successful enough to be considered a rival.

This dude has a history of talking this way. I am surprised his groupies don't know this. He also said GSW and CAVS aren't rivals.

http://www.sbnation.com/2017/1/17/14295910/lebron-james-rivalry-history-cavs-vs-warriors

So it is really not about greatness. After all, how great is Paul Pierce (in terms of MVPs let alone finals MVPs) yet Bron thought Paul was his greatest rival in the NBA.

http://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/lebron-james-says-paul-pierce-is-his-biggest-rival/

This is the same Lebron that wore an Ultimate Warrior shirt after the finals and claimed his wife packed it for him and that Champagne stained his other shirt so he decided to wear it. You and I know he would rather go shirtless than wear an I-love-Phil-Jackson shirt so why wear the Ultimate Warrior shirt? Yet he gave a flimsy reason.

If the system was that dysfunctional how did he win those titles? You do realize MVPs usually (if ever) don't come from teams not in the top 2 in their respective conferences.

So he was winning NBA regular season MVP titles by winning a ton of games but when it came to the playoffs the same winning team became dysfunctional?

he plays the same position with Paul and they often have to guard each other in many high profile eastern conference match-up,so it isn't without reason.
Why is nobody asking Curry if LeBron is a rival?

You and I know LeBron played his heart out during his first spell with the cavs but he couldnt get a ring because his team were short of talents.

Michael Jordan didn't win a ring until Scott Pippen came along and after his(Jordan) first retirement, Scott led the Bulls team to the playoffs with a great chance of winning. Jordan also had one of the best ball-rebounders (Rodman) of all time on his team. Which means Jordan benefited from a functional team as well. The Cavs couldn't make the playoffs after LeBron left which shows how important he was to the team during his first spell with them.

Playoffs is a different ball game entirely because you get to play the best teams and you need more than an individual's brilliance to win the title.

Lebron was asked that question many times before 2013 but he didn't answer it (kept saying he had no rival) till he won 2 rings by 2013. Then Paul Pierce was good enough to be called a rival. So it is nothing new. He is insecure.

Why is nobody asking Curry if LeBron is a rival?

Because Curry will answer the question graciously and the journalists want something controversial.

LOL. Someone can say "KD is not tall". His fans will say he is right when compared to Porzingis and Yao Ming. Neutrals and KD fans alike will say he is talking garbage. This right here, english calls CONTROVERSY because there is a stark contrast in opinions. So Lebron can say GSW are not CAVS' rivals and his fans can try to make him sound correct. It doesn't change the fact that it is still garbage.

LOL. If a man has to keep telling his wife and kids "I am the head of the house" repeatedly. It means he knows he is not. That's insecurity. When Iggy had won MVP and he was asked what he had to say about Lebron saying he was the best player in the world Iggy responded "He is right, but he doesn't need to tell us as we already know (for him to tell us it shows he is doubting himself)". I added the words in parenthesis.

SIRcumalot:

No. I am not the one who gave him 2 MVPs and a ring. The NBA did that all on their own. What I see as insecure is a great player who thinks Charles Barkley's comments are powerful enough to tarnish his legacy. Imagine Jordan thinking Jerry Sloan not greeting him is an act of disrespect.

lol. anoda 10 pages of lbj arguments. it used to be kobe vs lbj. then mj vs lbj. then pierce vs lbj. then mj vs lbj. then curry vs lbj. now back to mj vs lbj..etc

these are by themselves a testament to lbj's greatness. Some recurring nightmares of losing while up 3-1 is apparently still hunting lbjs many enemies. May all our enemies live long to see us prosper grin grin grin

This is a big shout out to Brad Stevens and the incredible job he has done with my team. The transition from college basketball to the NBA has been a process, his rise has been steady, but obvious. In all the hype and attention on the Celtics, Brad has remained very humble, choosing to stay in the background and allow his coaching do the talking.

It is quite easy for anyone to construe the Celtics to be all about Isaiah Thomas. If u really want to know the MVP of the Celtics team, listen to Isaiah Thomas after every game, including losses. He gives praise to Brad and his coaching staff, unlike many coaches in the league, especially young ones, Brad understands tactics. He draws some of the best plays in the book during time outs, and this elevates his status amongst younger coaches.

The Celtics are an organization of history, and pride that love to compete. I have no worries about how long Brad would coach with us, Ainge, in his usual style does not interfere with coaching. This has helped Brad mold the roster into his team.

Today, for the first time since he took over the Celtics in 2013 he would coach the eastern conference all star team. This one is for you brad, YOU ARE THE REAL MVP of my team.

bros, all im saying is the level of attention devoted to lbj both by fans and haters, constantly, year after year by itself says something about him.

i agree that he didnt have to try explaining his greatness. But eh..everyone falls to media pressure every now and then. For me, the koko is not even about his skills. Its about no family scandals, making all his friends succesful, building a financial empire without college degree, giving significant help in his community....for these i will overlook most of his faults, including the occasional childish behaviors.

About LeBron ever saying pierce isn't his rival before the two rings, show me some link and I'll believe you.
I can't just take your word for it.

What is This KD analogy?
When Kobe was asked if he saw LeBron as a rival what was his response?
Did it stop Kobe Vs bron argument from raging all over internet boards.
So if a player comment don't define a rival why does it matter what Bron says ?
You will draw your conclusion,we only ask to do the same.

If he made that comment AFTER the 2015 finals that would be insecure and a bit petty.
He said it somewhere between the series that is the truth.
This same LeBron that Is being labelled as "Insecure" now.
Said in an interview after two MVP and a final appearance that "Kobe is the best player in the league".

Barkley attacked his competitive spirit that is big to these guys he had support even from your team on that issue. I like Barkley so I wasn't cool with that talk.
