The exchange rate is driven by forces of demand and supply and for an import based country like Nigeria, the oil price is a major driver of the exchange rate...We earned so much revenue from the high oil prices which kept the Naira to dollar exchange rate constant for so long despite refusing to tame of voracious appetite for foreign goods. As soon as the oil price crashed, Naira was on a free fall...
