@Yeeshas,

Which state are you planning to move to?

We (Hubby, I and our Little man - 4 months old) plan to move to Melbourne because hubby is a Network Security Engineer and we think it may be a good place for him. I plan to go back to school for a career in Mental/Forensic Psychology or something closely related.

Please what are your thoughts Sir on these career paths in this location or if you have any recommendations.

IELTS and TOEFL can give 10 points, no sweat broken. For 20 points however, PTE is the way.
Notice that most who don't get 20 points often lose points in 'Speaking' section. The robot has a template to mark to grin; once that template can be followed, the rest na beans.

@Yeeshas, I would say google/youtube the speaking tips for PTE and retake. Once the speaking guide(s) can be followed, easy peasy.

20 points from PTE would give you 65 points, saving you the need to claim employment points and it's attendant paperwork; as well, shortening your time-to-grant since there is no DIBP employment verification to be performed. I mean, everyone wants that grant like yesterday.

I will do just that Sir. Thanks a lot!

@Ozymigrant,

Congratulations... I personally believe IELTS and TOEFL are easier than PTE. Though I have not done PTE before but I prefer to interact with human than a coded robot.. cheesy

@Yeeshas, have you considered speaking a little more faster. I ve seen a ot people do it and scored 79+ or 90. It may seem too fast but I ve seen a general consensus about speaking very fast. Maybe you should consider it.

Really? Okay. I will put to mind when next I write it in 2 weeks. Thanks a lot!

You may prefer to deal with a human than a coded robot, but in my opinion it is far easier to fool a coded robot than a human being. In my 1st attempt at PTE, I used some strategies to score 78 on Speaking even though I was speaking nonsense some of the time. However I cannot try that with a human being wink

Bros, what strategy did you apply? Pls help

Some guys on this forum (jamson and some other guy) said that one should watch all Youtube videos by navjot brar. The teacher is an Indian woman with a heavy accent but don't let that worry you. Just pay attention to what she says and practise them. Omo you go blast PTE cheesy. Her videos worked for me big time.
Here are some links where she gave tips on how to pass the Speaking module because that's the part that is generally most problematic.

Then download and use this PTE practice software to give you an experience of the real deal.

Depends on your profession and the state nominating you. The best thing is to have as much points as possible.

All the best

Can one apply for EA assessment if you do not have an Engineering degree?.

I've got an MSc in Geophysics, can I apply for Geotechnical engineering assessment? will my application for assessment be honored?

Job functions of geophysicist is very different from a geotechnical engineer nah... Civil engineering is the closely related occupation to geotechnical engineering.

I nominated System Analyst, and it has been on pro-rota. The worst part is that the date of effect is not even moving an inch.

If that's the case, quickly submit another EOI for 190 on NSW. Maybe that one fit click on time. But make sure you have all documents and application fee ready as NSW will only give you two weeks to apply for nomination if they invite you. No dulling bros.

Hmmm! Thanks. I wish I had asked this question earlier. We have just paid for a new apartment in a new location due to job transfer and business set up .

Considering the new development and as Jukeblam suggested, we'll just wait till she's one year (October) in the new role to be on the safer side of positive assessment and maybe earn more points from experience

Also use the opportunity to save some more money smiley cheesy

@ Jukeblam: Thanks

She can go ahead and apply. They will only reduce her work experience. Make sure the job descriptions match that of ANZSCO.

To be clear, I am saying don't spend more than the cost for Standard Competency Demonstration Report (currently 750 AUD) plus the fast track fee of 275 AUD.

You will claim your work experience with DIBP to get the points i.e. on your EOI and then submit all relevant documents for that when applying for your visa.

Sir, one more thing....how can one show this experience point if one opts for 190? E.g if one is on 55 without experience point, and decides to apply for SS and gets 55+5( SS point), how would one claim that experience point for 190 before visa application to boost ones chances of ITA for 190?

Re: General Guide To Australian Permanent Resident Visa Through Skilled Migration. by bellong: 10:22pm On Mar 03, 2017
@Yeeshas,

Psychology is a thriving occupation in Australia as there is always need for psychologists. Whatever path you choose will never go wrong.
However, I believe the clinical psychologists are in more demand compared to the Forensic psychologists. As you know, major function of a forensic psychologist is in the legal system helping with investigation. As a clinical psychologist, you can specialise in mental, child etc. Depends on what really interests or motivates you.

Meanwhile, have you read the Australian psychology association website to know the requirements to be registered as a psychologist? For those starting from scratch, it takes about 6 years but for you, it should be two years if you are able to get a Master's admission as it is very very competitive.

Melbourne is a great city for your husband's occupation and every state is wonderful for psychologists....

Dear e-family,

Trust we are all doing well. First of all I will like to say I will like to appreciate everyone who has ever said anything on this thread either questions or answers because everything on this thread has been inspiring and helpful.

Secondly I want to say a very special thank you to @jamson who left his comfort zone to help me go to my school to find a solution to my transcript issue which had been pending since October and as a result of his kind assistance and wisdom my assessment with vetassess has finally commenced and I am trusting God for a wonderful outcome.

P.S... I already have my 65 points so I don't need work experience points so I just need the positive assessment to submit my EOI and move on swiftly.

Now I have a question please. My husband is an HR specialist with almost 10 years experience while I am an Agricultural Economist with an extension background as well. My husband will be the one working at first when we move because I just had a baby and hv a 3 yrs old boy so please advice on the best state to settle in based on his profession or any advice based on our peculiarity.

Thank you in anticipation of great responses as this will help us plan.

Hi everyone. Great info shared on this thread, big ups to all keeping it alive. Please I need your input on an issue. A friend of mine recently evaluated his Bsc accounting degree which he obtained from uniben with chartered accountant of Australia and got his assessment back as not eligible.
Any accounting grads who have successfully obtained a positive assessment with their Nigerian accounting degrees? What evaluating body did you use?
Anyone with info on this?
He's pretty bummed at the moment as he just lost $550 for a negative assessment.
Thanks in anticipation
Re: General Guide To Australian Permanent Resident Visa Through Skilled Migration. by 40manlappy: 3:17pm On Mar 04, 2017
@vcole

My wife evaluated her BSc degree obtained from a state university through CA and got a positive evaluation.

Please note that she is a Chartered Accountant and supplied relevant documents on her ACA qualification to the body but I cannot authoritatively say that it made a difference in the evaluation.

I made the above assertion because they merely acknowledged the qualification in their report.

Let your friend take a second look at the documents submitted for the evaluation e.g. if the reference letter adequately captured his job description? Was the course syllabus/University handbook detailed enough? Etc
