Hi everyone?
Please does having a relative in Canada add to your your CRS? If it does, how many points does that add...?
Also, how long does it take to get a Canadian passport after the issuance of PR.
Thanks

Hello Dupsyshoo.
Please can you send the sample LOE draft to gbemmy28@yahoo.com. All my efforts at sending you has proved abortive. Thanks in advance.

dupyshoo:
If you are lucky to get PPR before the expiry date of your passport, they won't issue visa on the passport. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months for theme to put the visa.

If your application exceeds 6 months and your passport expires before PPR, you will be given 7 days to submit a new passport. I know this cos we were in the same situation. My husby's passport expired during the processing of our application. We had to submit a new one within 7 days.

My advice is this: apply for a new passport immediately. If you don't get it before submission, use the old one. Once you get the new passport, send the scanned copy of the new one via CSE.

With regard to large deposit from spouse, the spouse will just write a simple LOE that he/she transfered the said amount to support the family's plan to immigrate to Canada. I can send you a draft of what my husby wrote.

Hello Shinarambo1. Thank you for your insights and enlightenment in terms of career choices. I am guessing your wife is a lawyer by profession. If yes please can you expantiate more on job prospects for foreign trained lawyers after completing the qualifying exams? Reports from foreign trained lawyers haven't been very encouraging. Thanks in advance.

shinarambo1:

Yeah. The fear would always be present cos of uncertainties and the talk about how hard it is to suceed for new immigrants, but once you land and with careful planning, the lines would fall in pleasant places. I worked while my wife only studied for her exams. I remember how people said it was difficult to secure internship and one might have to relocate to northern part of the province to get one...We had faith and God provided a place for her 10 min drive from home... When she got her license, she was able to support the family while I studied for mine too. It's takes time, but with planning, patience and dedication, one would suceed smiley

Please does job bank registration take 24hours to be updated on ones express entry profile? Mine is still showing pending even after I have registered. Is that normal? Or I Ddnt really complete the job bank registration?

How did you resolve the above issue?

Good day All
I have been a silent reader of this thread and I must say I have really learnt a lot.
Thanks to all the gurus here
I intend to be in the EE pool before June this year
I am about to send my credentials to Wes for evaluation and take ielts by April.
I am married with 3 kids(5,3 and 1yr)
I m 32 yrs
Bsc comp science with 7 yrs banking experience in customer service.
Hubby has hnd accountancy with 7 yrs experience with insurance company.
My question is, if I finally get PR. Can I switch to nursing as I intend to enter the pool with NOC 6551 or 6314.
My plan is to do diploma nursing for 2 yrs and write professional exam to become Registered nurse.
Is it possible and advisable cos I m entering the pool with an NOC difffent from nursing. Hope it will not count against me.
Seniors in the house should please advise.
Dupyshoo, vcole and all the gurus pls help!
Thank you.

My people, please I asked a question earlier but it Ddnt seem to get any attention. Please can we use our debit cards to make payments as much as CAD1500 for OINP, CAD 550 for Processing etc. I'm asking considering the fact that there are limits to how much we can spend daily. Please those that have made such payments, how did you go about it. Thanks
Re: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program Connect Here by penitential(m): 5:15pm On Mar 04, 2017
The limitation placed on Nigeria cards will not allow you to pay such an amount. The available options to you are; get someone outside Nigeria to pay for you or get someone with a Dom account to pay with their card.

Hello House, I must commend everyone on this forum. good job so far. congrats to everyone that has received ITA. So I need your advice, I already paid an agent prior to finding this forum and I am so pained... so I have written IELTS twice, the first was L-6.5 W-7 S-7 R-6.5 and gave me a CRS score of 362 and the second was L-8 S-7.5 W-6.5 R-6 which gave me 373. I was really upset because I prepared unlike the first one that i didnt. I thought of asking for a remark for the writing but then again, the reading is absolute and wont get me to 400. please what do you advise I do house? Also, my agent told me to apply for jobs that asides provinces, that's the only option we have except i re-write ielts and I do not have that extra cash. he said no province is opened at the moment. I am 27, single, with 5 years work experience, my NOC is in HR and Banking but I am using the 6235 to apply. Please does anyone know anybody that got this PR from getting a job whilst in Nigeria because all the ones I have seen, the caveat is to be in Canada already. Also, my POF is not complete yet, but would be by march. All advise is welcome. Thank you in advance and sorry for the long read.

You can switch to LPN. No worries, even Canadians change careers alot of time. You can't become a registered nurse with a 2year diploma. The 2 year diploma is for LPN. You can return to a uni for 4years BSN or go for the 2 years LPN and transfer for the last 2years of BSN at some Uni. You can also check out the after degree nursing programs. You might need some prerequisite to qualify for the after degree programs.

The only option improving your scores to atleast 400 is to rewrite your IELTS. Itbis pretty difficult getting a job in Canada from outland. Ensure that whichever NOC you decide to use is in Skill O,A or B. If you believe in the Canny dream, kindly take the IELTs again and prepare very well.

Another alternative apart from the earlier adviced is to open a USD account, fund it via parallel market and get a debit card on the account.

On your choice of NOC, 6551 will not give you any point as it is classified as semi skilled but 6314 can work provided your job functions is in line with that.

. I would suggest that you try IELTS one more time and give it your best this time. Your age is good, work experience is perfect, with the right scores in IELTS, you are good to go. You could also be looking out for provinces, e.g. Ontario, Sask. I'm sure others will chip in too. All the best ..

It seems it's 5 marks for Adaptability.
It's usually stated under the eligibility scores breakdown(100 marks)
Or u can just try creating a dummy account. U can always delete it...

Spot on! God bless u.
dupyshoo:
I was discussing with someone yesterday about DIY (Do It Yourself) and I thought I should share it with people on this thread.

As we are planning to get ITA, submit application or waiting for PPR. Let's take our time to learn some new skills which will be really handy when we get to Canada. Skills like making hair, sewing clothes, painting, decorating your house, repairing electrical goods, plumbing work will save you a lot of stress. These are skills that can easily fetch money that you will not have to pay tax on. Even if you are not making money out of it, you won't need to call tradesmen that will charge you exorbitant fees. You will have to learn how to maintain your home yourself. You wont be able to call electrician to come and fix light bulb for you or a painter to paint your room.

I will use UK as an example as I have not really lived in Canada, you can buy Ankara for £20 and will have to pay £30-£50 to sew it. To slim fit or shorten a pair of Jeans/trouser will cost you more than the amount you bought the Jeans. Hair can costs between £30-£100 and the hairdo will still be terrible. Even those that learnt how to make hair on YouTube and are not very competent will charge you a lot. To change a lock after misplacing your key will cost you from £30 upwards.

Also, if you can, get international driver's licence before you leave Nigeria. In addition, bring along your Nigeria Driver's licence. I heard, for some provinces, you might be able to get away with some driving test stages if you can prove you have been driving for some years.
