Good News! Good News! Good News! Good News! Good News! Good News! The DG of DMO just anounced on AIT that in a few months from now, they will launch an APP that we can all download and transact FGN Savings Bond without the stress of going through any institution. Happier days ahead. |

zamirikpo:You are right, I have filed the form for the next bid and my account was just debited. When FBN debits you for NTB there is 99 % probability of success. |

Last warning to d mods that banned @feelamong. Then to d issue of d day, d new guidelines may not necessarily affect us.....I think its meant for banks and finance houses not individual investors So let's not pannick.....let's go about d next auctions like nothing happened and see what d banks would tell us. I plan to walk up to my branch, apply as usually with my stop rates and see how it plays out. The bankers don't even know jack about NTB ![]() Rates may drop a little though. |

@zamirikpo Lol @The bankers don't even know jack about NTB ![]() That might be an exaggeration but truly, majority of bank workers do not know much about Tbills and the reason is not far-fetched. Apart from the top guys, most of those who know how NTB works are either staff who process it for their customers or those who invest in Tbills themselves. |

feelamong:I think what banks and investment houses will try to do is act normal that means they will still try to do the normal Tbills transaction considering they will always have funds above the minimum amount, that way they get to retain their clients. the will buy in their(bank/investment house) name and appropriate to you based on how much worth Tbills you want( business as usual) but where the challenge will come up is when the collect funds from their clients and the whole funds are not up to 50m |

I looked at the FGN savings bond. It seems the yield wont be better than TBs. Please does any one have an opinion on which is better. Thanks. |

| Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by 2n2k(m): 7:20pm On Mar 07, 2017 |
Speedyconnect7:The true yield is your true returns on your investment not the discount/stop rate. In the example you quoted, the 18.28% is on the face value of N100,000 but you didn't invest N100,000 but just N81,720 because that is what is debited to your account. The interest of N18,280 is actually received on an investment of N81,720 which gives a return of around 22.3% Unlike fixed deposits that you receive your interest at the end of the tenor in which case, the actual and true yield are the same. Another way to derive the true yield on treasury bills is that since you receive the interest upfront, that interest is immediately available for another investment e.g in the example above, if you reinvest the Upfront interest of N18,280 on the same tenor at 18.28%, you will earn additional N3,341. So your total interest will be 18,280+3341=N21,621. If you also reinvest the upfront interest of N3,341 @ 18.28%, you get additional N610 bringing your total interest to N22,221 all on investments totalling N100,000 running concurrently. That is 22.22% true yield. |
