This happens when folks live by assumption . If you are a traveller one thing you need do constantly is ask questions . Having multiple visa does not mean a permanent resident, also it does not even authorize you to stay longer than necessary . Let me break it down. you could have a 5 year multiple entry visa to usa or Canada. It means you can travel as many times as you want to those countries but at each entry point and time you are told how long you should stay. The maximum number of months you stay is 6 months but you can extend up to 12 months. You must leave before the 6 or 12 month period expires. If you overstay, that's 6 months without extension or 12 months in total if you had your extension approved, you have broken immigration law and your 5 years multiple visa is rendered invalid.in some cases an immigration officer could stamp 3 months entry. You must leave before 3months or have your stay extended to a maximum of 12 months despite your 5 year multiple entry visa. Hope I have helped someone here.

This has been going on for years. But Trump just wanted to make noise. And you know some of these US border and customs are like Naija mopol-they only hear go.
Obama deported more illegal immigrants than any President, but without noise. Infact one of his nicknames is deporter in chief.
As for legal immigrants and Nigerians- even last year i know a girl who was turned back at the airport. Her fault sha. She no tell the guy picking her at the airport her full last name. When the border agent called him to ask who he was picking up- he said Gladys. Well Gladys who...how do you know her.
If you are coming with Visa...be precise and straight forward with your answers.
If you have green card, dont beat your wide or steal or do fraud. Dont do crime.
And make sure your phone has no exhibit or porn. Or Boko haram matter. They search phones randomly
Also it's not only Nigerians they have been denied Canadians and even British. In as much as Nigerians foreign affairs minister is right, Abike Dabiri only offered an advise but she shouldn't have done that without proper protocol she could have posted on her official social media page not a press conference with FG all over it

http://www.cnn.com/2017/02/21/world/british-muslim-teacher-denied-us-trnd/
http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/national/canadian-citizen-denied-entry-to-united-states-told-she-needed-visa-to-get-in/article34228089/

And let us know every country has rights to defend their border, definitely there must be a reason unpaid parking tickets, DWI/DUI, domestic violence, social media comments, what's his status........

Being a Nigerian is a course.
We are hated at home. BH have killed more than 20,000 people since 2009-and no end in sight. The only fear I have is that it will expand to other parts of the country. We have the menace of Herds men killing and destroying lives and property everyday, albeit with impunity.
There is cultism killing, militants everywhere. Our leaders are stealing us dry and they soil the image of the country abroad.
Instead of youths to stand up for their rights, they divide themselves into wailers and hailers. Awon omo jati jati.

Thanks for the reply. Because I emailed the US border patrol a few weeks ago and they said that there is nothing stopping me from entering the US except a criminal record which, if severe only, they might need to take action. I live in the US but I want to go to London for vacation this summer and I have a green card. Just reading all these news and they are quite scary .
To tell you otherwise would be against the law but my friend, unless you're squeaky clean don't leave the states for now.

I believe that Border Patrol is now emboldened by Trump. Don't forget that they support his candidacy.

I am not understanding all these stories.

I don't have a green card. All I have is a visa. I didn't even spend up to 5 minutes with the V.O. Plus the Hartsfield–Jackson airport looked so calm to me and this was just about 10 days ago.

Am I missing something.

Well, immigration and border control is a fluid situation.

Things could have changed from the next flight that landed after you. Also, certain airports are easy compared to others.

It's a fact the USA is difficult to enter based on travel ban issued by the new Sheriff in town Donald Trump, Nigerians are not the only one facing this challenges.
The statement coming from the office of the ministry of foreign affairs to counter the statement made by Mrs Abike Dabiri is baseless, even if Nigeria Government are in good relationship with America under President Trump, Trump is not the immigration officers who screen people at the airport, we are know how America police and immigration office treat black people even Ben Carson made an unruly statement above slave bring an immigrant
Madan Abike only advised Nigerians ,for the time being stay away for now while government keeps working on how to correct the loophole

Well, I am posting from Los Angeles (USC) but I have a Nigerian immigrant wife so I am embedded in immigration matters on other forums and some which USCIS officers particiaptes on outside of work.

As long as you're sure of no issues then travel away BUT I won't let my Wife leave the country or travel within 100 miles of a border until she gets her citizenship hopefully in a few weeks.

For what it's worth, we both just came in from Nigeria middle of last month and in fact was the smoothest transition ever through border control. Very few questions was about length of stay (we were gone for a while).

Nope, she didnt... her words. Were carefully thought out and posted "postpone unimportant trips until they(USA) Clarify Their visa policy"

Only Nigerians like u will see such a lovely move as a. Diplomatic "faux pas"...is Onyeama. The us ambassador?

Let the US ambassador / top embassy officials clarify #simple
I didn't see the answer to the question of where he said that he is resident LEGALLY in the US.
Any chance to respond?
Meanwhile below is the embassy's clarification showing that Abike Dabiri did not know what she was talking about.

The U.S. Embassy in Abuja wishes to clarify that there is no reason for Nigerians with valid visas to postpone or cancel their travel to the United States. Nigeria is not named in the Executive Order on Immigration issued on March 6, and there is no prohibition against Nigerian lawful permanent residents or persons with a valid visa or other U.S. government authorization from entering the United States.

Guy, if he has a valid green card and he was turned back then he should call his lawyer in the U.S.A and sue them to court. With a court order the immgration will pay his flight ticket back to the US.What arrant nonsense.
