News has it that Oonirisa was not at home when Yorubas and Hausas started fighting in Ife and i have reasons to believe so. I really think that our reverred Ooni should stay more at home. Intervening and averting this kind of crisis is one of the primary reasons kings are enthroned. A king who stays in his palace, has village and community representatives in town, and holds daily consultations with them, would've been promptly alerted of the ensuing crisis if he's the type that stays at home. In this way, the key players of the crisis would've been appeased and the needless bloodbath averted.

Should Oonirisa not be reminded that the title of Arole Oodua means we must always meet him at the ancestral home of Yorubas anytime we come visiting "Ile Oodua".

And Ooni should not please insult our collective pride by paying any homage or solidarity visit to either Sultan or Emir of Kano. Those guys at Sabo went beyond their boundaries and as such their foremost monarchs should come apologizing on behalf of their misguided brothers. No other section of this country is so audacious to initiate killings of their hosts on their own soil.

I can remember then vividly in the early 90's when Bornu state was really peaceful and free from all inter-religious crisis because the then traditional ruler took it upon himself to nip it in the bud when it is brewing

All traditional rulers should try to be at home most of the time so as to quell brewing crisis in their communities because they are reverend by their people and will listen to them always

No, I disagree with you. If only you knew the role traditional rulers play in averting crisis, you would've appreciated the fact that the bloodbath could've been averted. I refer you to the immediate post above yours to understand onebof the most important roles of traditional rulers.

If you understood my post well, you'd have realised I wasn't talking of what obas do during crisis but before it while it's just ensuing. Are you telling me obas don't have community heads or representatives who brief them of developments in their domains from time to time? It has worked for many traditional rulers before now and it's still working. But no such king enjoys such privileges when he is always out of palace.

I get your point but what I'm saying is, even if the Ooni was around, the damage would have been done before he's alerted although it would have been lesser. The Ooni isn't omnipresent
