ovoP:see this man! You opened a thread then decided to ruin it with this statement? Stay there and be looking for who is not united, igbos are developing the east without you even knowing. Igbos are not to be trusted yet your forefathers were killed by the People you trust while your lands and oil were taken by them. How many ss politicians have been assasinated so far by north/west? The only tribe that fights along with you throughout history and this is all you can say about them? Wake up from your slumber. Am out of this thread!!! Nonsense!! 8 Likes 1 Share |

HiddenShadow: You don't get it. Onitsha is a riverport. It can't handle sizable vessels even when dredged because of the volume of silt in the Niger and Onne port is already in use. Whether Rivers poeple like business or not is not an issue. PH is filled with foreigners already. Infact over 50 percent of the population are settlers so forget that thing. Onne is a viable option. no be Rivers poeple close the port Harcourt port. na Federal govt 1 Like |

Re: Which Seaport Is Best To Serve The South South & South East? by Opharhe: 8:41am On Mar 13, 2017 |
raker300:What Onitsha have is a River Port not Sea Port. Even Sapele in Delta state which is at the banks of the River Ethiope and closer to the Sea is still a river port though needs attention. The closest part of the South East to the Sea is around the River Imo(I think somewhere in Abia state) which is directly connected to Bonny on mouth of the River at the Sea and Even then, it'll still be a river port. Environmentally, dredging the River Niger further at Onitsha might also be dangerous for farming and fishing communities up and down stream hence needs serious carefulness. What we should look at is developing our River ports in the South East and the establishment of a large, operational Sea Port at Akwa-Ibom which will improve commercial activities in the South South/East. 6 Likes 1 Share |

ovoP:Oniovo Mavo? I think you should be making a case for Warri Port since you're from Delta. That port used to be quite busy before just like Onne in Rivers. But honestly, for a large heavy duty port, I will recommend Akwa-Ibom(Ibaka, Ibom or so) because it's central to the Eastern areas and other Southern areas. Also, that area has the adequate depth unlike Warri and Onne which appear not deep enough. Calabar no bad before but it's at a corner and Cameroun dey disturb too. So I go with Akwa-Ibom for a deep seaport but call for the development of Warri and Onne ports plus Onitsha and Sapele River ports. 3 Likes |

Re: Which Seaport Is Best To Serve The South South & South East? by Opharhe: 8:59am On Mar 13, 2017 |
TRUSTEDPAY:Yes it's a beautiful River. I think the place is called Uruakwu or so(not sure) in Abia. That place will be good for a River Port because it's linked directly to Bonny on the Atlantic in Rivers State. But from the pictures I've seen, that place will be good for a river tourism park. 2 Likes 1 Share |

TRUSTEDPAY: That's another beautiful idea.... some call it Obuaku River or so....it has many channels and enough room for expansion so as to accommodate big ships... because no single building will be affected ...I also heard is close to Atlantic ocean but a bridge in Akwaibom needs yo be removed... the Stupid Governor TA Orji promised to Expand it and standardized the Port... 3 Likes 1 Share |

Why can't we open up all the seaports, be it Ibaka, Calabar, Onne, Warri. Create enough inland seaport including, but not limited to Oguta in Imo, Onticha, Niger state, Benue there are so many of them being fed from these seaports. The increase in activity in the country will be tremendous, can you even imagine the number of people that the will get employed as a result of the increased presence of industries that would pop up here and there? 2 Likes |

I was actually fooled into thinking that you created this thread with purely good intention. But, going by your incoherent rant below, now I know better. I wish well to those who are championing the so called SuperSouth coalition. I seriously hope and pray they succeed. But I am doubtful that it will be so when there are still some delusional folks who feel and reason the way you do. #Kwontinu. ovoP: 5 Likes 1 Share |
