Bros Chidera didn't start. Lol. He was even shown on d bench at one point. Tbaba is right, he was subbed pretty late and his intro coincidentally led to the 2 goals they scored..... goldfish80: |

TheGoodJoe:Ronaldo at 18 scored how many hatricks? How many champions league goals did he score at 18? Mbappe at 18 is gradually leading Monaco to win the league at the expense of favourites PSG. What exactly makes Ronaldo so special at 18 that Mbappe have not shown X2? |

goldfish80:You asking what makes Ronaldo de Lima special puts a big dent in your argument. It shows you are arguing what you do not know. You are reading stats and arguing. They are two different things. The other day we took time explaining the art of the game. Today, there is a lot of reliance on team work. So those number stats do not explain the point. Ronaldo joined the Brazilian national team as a seventeen years old. As a young teen, his skills and dribbling ability was up there with some of the best in the history of the game. This is not even a debate. If you think Mbappe is close to half of Ronaldo de Lima at this age, then you have a lot of catching up to do. |

goldfish80:Ronaldo scored 42 goals in 46 games at PSV.. Led them to the league and cup as a teenager. |

goldfish80:If you had an idea of how good the 1994 Brazilian team was and the competition to get a place for the World Cup squad. Then you can imagine the ability of a 17 years Ronaldo making that team. During the World Cup triumph celebration, a commentator said, that Ronaldo will soon become the best player in the World and two years later, he was undoubtedly the best player in the World in an era of great players. |

tbaba1234:Salomon Kalou, Dirk Kuyt, Mateja Kezman, Ryan Babel scored tonnes of goals in the Dutch league but we know their level. Mbape on the other hand is bossing it in the Champions league against the very best in world. I don't think Ronaldo scored more goals than MBA in the champions league. |

TheGoodJoe:How many minuets did Ronaldo play at the USA world cup? He was a bit part player if anything. |

goldfish80:I said making team. Not starting or playing. For a seventeen years old player to make the Brazilian World Cup team was nothing short of amazing. We are talking Brazil. |

RONALDO Now, if ever there has been a greater debut season for a club (Barcelona) anywhere in the world, I am yet to have seen it. I mean, listen to this: 47 goals in 51 matches, top scorer in the La Liga, winner of the Copa Del Rey and Supercopa Espana, UEFA Cup winner and FIFA World Player of the Year, not to mention runner-up for the Ballon d'or. At nineteen, which Mbappe has to do next season, since he is as some say, better than a teenage Ronaldo. (X2) |

TheGoodJoe:Ronaldo De Lima was special. I would be crazy to deny his abilities. As a matter for fact he is one of my favourite strikers of all time. Connecting Mbappe to legends like Ronaldo and the rest is easy because he certainly have the talent in folds. Am particularly excited about his prospects because he's African. By the way, Mbappe is likened to Henry than Ronaldo because they both started out as Wing forwards. While Ronaldo is a typical no 9. |

goldfish80:I have seen too many brilliant young talents to get excited with what I am seeing in Mbappe. As I said, discipline and Hardwork is what he needs because more prolific talents than him did not reach the level of Henry and Ronaldo De Lima. |

goldfish80:Mbappe is talented, but come now - he's no where as good as R9 was at 18. R9 scored 30 league goals in his first season in europe. The eredivisie wasn't that weak back then. |

goldfish80:Ajax won the champions league and got the final, a year later in that same period. 1994-1996.. The dutch league produced world class super-stars in that period. Overmars, Edgar davids, Dennis bergkamp, Seedorf, Frank/Ronald De boer, Patrick Kluivert, etc.... The golden age of dutch football. PSV led by Ronaldo won the league ahead a strong Ajax side. Look at the names in that period to have a valid comparison. |

tbaba1234:The Dutch league was a one horse race at the time. Just like what you have in Scotland and Switzerland today. Apart from Ajax and maybe PSV, the rest of the league were part timers. |

goldfish80:Yet Ajax went to the Champions league final twice in a row.. If the level of competition was so poor.. Do you think that is possible? Has Celtic made the champions league final, back to back? |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by goldfish80(m): 7:14am On Mar 17, 2017 |
TheGoodJoe:You're preaching to the choir. I've seen a lot of talented players down the years who didn't reach their full potential. What adds to my excitement in Mbappe's case is that he's African. I wouldn't mention his name on this thread if he was white. |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by goldfish80(m): 7:32am On Mar 17, 2017 |
tbaba1234:I Dont know about Ajax winning the champions league twice in a row. However, down the years we have seen teams from leagues with one dominant side ride the champions league. We can say that about Bayern Munich, Seria A these days with Juventus. Ajax did well in the champions league, not because of the strength of their league, but because they benefited from a talent boom from their Academy and they recruited very wisely from around Europe and Africa, like Lithmanen, Kanu, Finidi. If the gods favour Basel and Celtic like Ajax, they will walk the champions league irrespective of their opposition in the league. |

tbaba1234:Ronaldo did not win the league at PSV. What He won was the equivalent of the FA cup. They call it the KNVB cup not the Dutch league please. |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Nobody: 7:40am On Mar 17, 2017 |
goldfish80:Got to the final twice in a row. won once and lost the other. Bayern is not in a poor league, Neither is Juventus. They might be better than their rivals but their rivals also play at a high standard. Once in the final could be as a result of luck but twice in the final, back to back shows a truly world-class team. You do not become a world class team playing part-timers every week. |

tbaba1234:Let's get to the chase. Apart from Ajax which other team in the Dutch league can boast of being world class? Abeg leave matter, there's no competition in Germany. Let's not kid ourselves. Bayern can afford to buy up the best players from each of the 18 teams in the Bundesliga. The German league is structured that Bayern have the first refusal on every German player in the Bundesliga. Please let's not go there. What competition in Seria A? A league where Juventus can afford to win the championship even if they were handicapped - 15 points before the league kicks off. |
