You're who you are, embrace it. Trust me you don't need friends either. People are full of shit. Just keep a handful of your most dear & let the rest go...do something nasty to themselves.

From your description, I don't think you are an introvert.

I just think you have poor social skills. I.e social awkwardness.

Introverts are quite satisfied being by themselves, as a matter of fact, they do better alone.

Even in new environments, they function better in sole positions.

first thing to do is to pick up a hobby.

playing football with the local youths.
Going to the local gym.
Going to the barbershop in the evening to chat.

Anything that suits your fancy.

By forcing yourself out of your comfort zone, you get used to the idea if being around people.

I said he should keep a worthy few. I'm sure he already has such people in his life, therefore he shouldn't beat himself up for his inability to make new friendships. I'm talking from my own experience here. Every time I tried to open up to the possibility of broadening my circle of friends, they ended up not being worth shit. I still prefered the tried & tested friendships over new ones. That my dear, is my point.

I'm an introvert and proud
I have a job too that takes much of my time that I don't need friends breathing down my neck complaining about not keeping in touch.
I work in a team but do better on my own.
My advice, get a good hobby something you are passionate about
