Christians should not be Gynaecologist.
but Christians would patronise non-Christian Gynaecologist o.

If we go with the stupid logic that a man should not see or touch the privates of a woman who's not his spouse - then what about male medical doctors who are christians and help deliver babies. are they commiting sin ? yes or no?

You that patronise this doctors and Gynaecologists, are you commiting sin as well for being an accomplice in an unholy act?

Ok. I prefer being 'ignorant' about medical profession but knowledgeable about the requirements for heaven. So I repeat, if 'managing gynaecology cases' involves compulsorily perusing the nudity of the opposite sex and fumbling with their sensitive organs, then it is unchristian. Thanks.

I hope when you're in your 60s, and you go to the A&E to relieve your acute urinary retention, you will reject that female junior Dr covering the ward. If you don't, you're going to be the greatest hypocrite of all.
I'm assuming the original post also covers female drs touching the male penis?

This is a sensitive topic. As a Christian, my personal opinion remains that it is very wrong for a male believer to be a gynecologist

1) Examining the breast of a woman that is not your wife as a heterosexual male is wrong
2) Examining the private parts of a female that isn't your wife is totally wrong
3) Some male doctors develop feelings for their patients and vice versa
4) Our sight is a gateway to temptation
5) If a woman examines the private parts of a male patient how will he feel, assuming he has a wife, how will she feel?

I can go on but let me stop here, it is wrong and no religions supports it

I'm a Christian, but some Christians should stop being fanatical. What the big deal about a pair of breasts or a vagina? if he has expertise in such areas, and his examination of such body parts will be beneficial to the woman in question then why not?? Weren't we all nakked before civilization. abegiiiiii no big deal

[quote author=CatfishBilly post=54562286]Well, the non doctors have come here and displayed their ignorance. Nigerians, ignorant, proud of it and not afraid to show it.
A believer can be a gynecologist because, by the letter of the law, a male gynecologist should have a female chaperone in the room while examining a patient. He can stimulate the clitoriszzzzzzzx to check the nervous system as far as the chaperone is there.
Besides, doctors see the human body as a specimen or a piece of meat to be rather blunt, they are looking for answers on that "piece of meat".
After handling so many breasts and vaginas, they get desensitized to it.
So, any doctor still trying to arouse a patient or gets sexually aroused in the presence of a chaperone is a sexual deviant.
So, your questions have been answered.

Let believers be guided by the scriptures as well as by knowledge.

The human brain works in such a way that one activity shuts down one's focus on another.

Notwithstanding, knowledge is no match for emotion.

Therefore, those who naturally are easily beset by sexual temptations should let nature tutor them on drawing the line on this issue.

They shouldn't practice gynaecology.

A gynaecologist is a medical doctor who specialises in treating women especially on sexual reproduction. As part of his/her job, he/she has to look at the unclothedness of women repeatedly and occasionally fumble with (sensitive) parts of their bodies. A born again Christian who hopes to make it to heaven and see God must be pure in heart (Matthew 5:cool and holy in conduct (Hebrews 12:14). Should a born again Christian who is a boy/man study or practise gynaecology as a profession?

grin

Ok...where does one start....

1.I am a doctor, and also a christian too.

2.I am not a gyanecologist, but as a doctor, I have had to examine hundreds of women in my professional life.

3.Have I been sexually aroused by any of them? No...and I will tell you why

First, most of the women who come to hospital are sick and in pain. And they need help sorting out that pain. And we need to find out what is causing that pain too..

For example, I had a young woman come to me with a Bartholin's cyst. We needed to do a vaginal examination, and eventually to operate on her. Were we comitting sin by doing so?

I have also had a woman come to me with pain in her breast. We examined her...and it turned out to be breast cancer (sadly metastasized, so too late for her). At no time did I have thoughts of s..x in my mind.

I also had to pass a cathether for a seriously ill, HIV positive patient, stage 4, in the ward. That meant looking at her private part (inavoidable) and at no time was I aroused. (Infact, for your info, the private part was seiously diseased. Nothing arousing over there!).

So.....at the end of the day...if we were to follow your doctrine brother....christians would not need to be doctors at all!

Let me repeat myself.....Christians would not need to be doctors at all. Because in your mind...every christian doctor is a sinner.!

Second.... as a Christian, we are TEMPTED every day. I am in my thrities, and I am a virgin (Some people on Nairaland are going to laugh at me...now that I have outed myself haha smiley). Thank God I have kept myself pure. It is God ....because every day, I am TEMPTED. The thing is not to allow the temptation to take over you. King David was punished for sleeping with bathsheba, not for being tempted by her. Joseph too was tempted by Potiphar'swife...but he ran away.

Third....our job as doctors is not to look at beautiful bodies every day, and feed our fantasies. No. Our job is to cure sick people. And let me tell you...that is what is on our mind every day. So...if a woman comes to me complaining of pain in her breast, the thought on my mind is not that I am going to touch some beautiful stuff....but that it better not be that I examine the breast and find cancer there. If a woman comes to me saying she is itching in her private part...the thought in my mind is that it is not something as serious as genital warts....which I have seen in one HIV positive woman...very scary....but that it is something innocous that we can treat.

Brother.....your problem is that you are mixing temptation with actual sin. You think that when you are tempted, you are sinning. No. Better stop worrying about how you are tempted every day. Better go and pray to God to deliver you from temptaiton, and the evil one....and go and do his will. Dont worry about sin too much. God is there to help you.

Modified....One more story

During my student days, when I was doing my O and G posting, one elegant 40 year old woman came into the gynae's office where I and five other students were. She was complaining of constant bleeding from her private part. Minute we students heard that, we just felt...bad. Examination.....she had cancer of the private part. When we left that office....all that was on our mind was "Wow...that woman is in trobule"

lol you sha funny oh , plz a forensic pathologist ( a doctor who performs autopsy on dead patients )should as well be included on this hair brained list of yours .. cos he actually sees a lot of boobs ,vagina, penis ,of both single , married , widowed , just name it... see its not seeing it that's is the problem its your mindset towards it that is the the problem , if u operate withing the confines of professionalism and considering you are trained for shit like this I don't see how u would get carried away ..once your job has to do with dealing with nudity in a way ,from what I have notice your mind subconsciously desexualize the body..men who do cosmetic surgery , male midwives , I don't think they get turned on by doing their job ...see even guys who video porn sef don't get erect , until tactile stimuli is used on em,,,,

Only a morally decrepit man would have any moral or religious issues with being a gynaecologist. As a gynaecologist, you have the opportunity to save the lives of thousands of women ravished by cervical cancer and many other types of gynaecological cancer, simply by doing routine pelvic exam and counseling your patients on safe sex and healthy sex lifestyle.

If your religious values prevents you from executing this noble and time-honored responsibility, then your religious values belong in the dustbin.

Maternal and infant mortality rates are high in Nigeria due to lack of enough hospitals, lack of enough medical staff, especially in the rural areas, and poverty.

if believers are not in the field would it put one at rest to have our women in the care of those without belief? what next? believers should not deliver babies too? by the way over exposure ends up repulsing them and wives might not be so appealing.
Re: Should A Man Who Is A Born-Again Christian Be A Gynaecologist? by Nobody: 9:03pm On Mar 17, 2017
the question is uncalled for. purity has to do with the heart, the gynecologist doesnt have to feel or think anything upon the sight of a woman's organs except if he's a pervert. its like asking whether a born again male doctor is sinning if he examines a ladies breast. lyk seriously??

Sorry sir, today's doctors don't see d body(of a woman) as a pieces of meat any more. When they see it,they will want to feel it.Google Dr Felix I. Uwensuyi-Edosomwan,Dr AdekunleWilliams Owolabi,Dr Akinfemi Akingboye. Those are just few examples for you to know that Doctors no longer see patients' body as a “piece of meat". Even our so called men of God/apostles are now on rampage talk more of “ordinary" doctors.

How can there be enough medical staff?

When christian male Drs are being told they cannot be gynes and obs?

When some men already feel their wives should never be seen by male gynaes?

How many female gyne/obs are registered with the Mdcn and are still in the country? Very low amount. The field is populated by men because most females don't have the time or the desire to go to that field.

Its time consuming, and involves a lot of dedication as things can easily go south. Its a field we need people that have the true fear of God in them, and are conscientious.

You sir are a disgrace to Christianity and are no different from the Pharisees. The Bible says a man who looks at a woman lustfully commits adultery and vice versa, the question to ask is does a woman have to be naked to look at her lustfully?
If the answer is no, then Men and women should not live in the same town/country together because a man be him a doctor, banker, lawyer or teacher would see females and there's a possiblity for lust to creep in.

YES!!!!!

I'm a gynae and an intimate examination is just a process in aiding diagnosis and management!!

Different shapes and sizes are seen and palpated daily. S..exx advice is given on several occasions.... at least advice given is based on the woman's needs, anatomy and physiology not some recycled nonsense sometimes printed in the glossies.

I've got lady friends who are urologists, andrologists and sexual+reproductive health consultants who examine male w.illies daily--- Are they committing a sin or at risk of such??

Durhhhh...

Ethics is the word here!!
Good ethics determine you don't treat your patient in a sexual manner no matter how tempting the organ's appearance or how willing she/ he may appear to be for an illicit affair!!!!....

Its so serious, you risk being struck off the register of the local regulatory body!!!!!!

No vagina/ penis (as applicable) is worth all that trouble!!!!!

Who can cares. when it comes to matter of life and death.

My wife was in labour for two days and the doctor would come every now and then to check if the babies have turned. Every time he comes he would spread her legs and fumble with it the woman was in serious pain and we didnt want to do CS which of course we settled for later and Thanks to God for that. My wife is a shy person but she had no choice infact it got to a point th a t the doctor didnt have to ask her to spread before she did.

So is it wrong for a Christian man to save womens lives? Whether as a doctor or not.

Youve got to know thst this doctors have seen so many virginas that it doesn't frick them again. Not to talk of having erection. They are used to seeing it as they see blood everyday.

I see nothing wrong in a Christian man being a Gynaecologist.
