You've talk from experience. I'm going to share my experience with you all.

When I was 15, I went for breast examination. My doctor was a female. And she has a male doctor attach to her. I observed that anytime the female goes out, the other will start examining my breasts. He didn't jump on me. Then I felt something was wrong but I couldn't pinpoint it.

You are still missing the point. You're describing professionalism. You are still talking from the point of work ethics.

I'm talking from the point of spirituality. Just because I saw an unclad male doesn't mean I will have sex with him. It doesn't mean I will jump on him. But will I still think of it? That's where sins comes in. You're describing issues where I won't think about it because the body is going through treatment.

The question still is as a believer who know is God, will my heart not go into fornication if I see a body attractive enough?
You the pervert here, the male doctor is doing his work but because of your perverting mind set you feel that he is touching you sexually.

Their are ethics to medical professions, so long you do it just to help and save lives, no strings attached, no sexual perversions, that's all that matters, you will please God and make heaven even with the profession. The onus is draw the line, do not do it for sexual satisfaction or inclination.

Obviously, you do not know how deceitful the human heart is and how desperate Satan is to corrupt and pollute the mind of a Christian to prevent him going to heaven. (1st Peter 5:8; 1st Thessalonians 5:22,23). A male born again and sanctified Christian has so much at stake unlike the unregenerate. I believe my fellow Christians know what I am talking about.
Lemme tell you what your fellow xtians are thinki of you now reading your post. As a xtian, I suggest you keep mute. Update your knowledge base, or experience bas or whatever base your inferring from, then make sensible and logical points. Thanks.

Ok...where does one start....

1.I am a doctor, and also a christian too.

2.I am not a gyanecologist, but as a doctor, I have had to examine hundreds of women in my professional life.

3.Have I been sexually aroused by any of them? No...and I will tell you why

First, most of the women who come to hospital are sick and in pain. And they need help sorting out that pain. And we need to find out what is causing that pain too..

For example, I had a young woman come to me with a Bartholin's cyst. We needed to do a vaginal examination, and eventually to operate on her. Were we comitting sin by doing so?

I have also had a woman come to me with pain in her breast. We examined her...and it turned out to be breast cancer (sadly metastasized, so too late for her). At no time did I have thoughts of s..x in my mind.

I also had to pass a cathether for a seriously ill, HIV positive patient, stage 4, in the ward. That meant looking at her private part (inavoidable) and at no time was I aroused. (Infact, for your info, the private part was seiously diseased. Nothing arousing over there!).

So.....at the end of the day...if we were to follow your doctrine brother....christians would not need to be doctors at all!

Let me repeat myself.....Christians would not need to be doctors at all. Because in your mind...every christian doctor is a sinner.!

Second.... as a Christian, we are TEMPTED every day. I am in my thrities, and I am a virgin (Some people on Nairaland are going to laugh at me...now that I have outed myself haha smiley). Thank God I have kept myself pure. It is God ....because every day, I am TEMPTED. The thing is not to allow the temptation to take over you. King David was punished for sleeping with bathsheba, not for being tempted by her. Joseph too was tempted by Potiphar'swife...but he ran away.

Third....our job as doctors is not to look at beautiful bodies every day, and feed our fantasies. No. Our job is to cure sick people. And let me tell you...that is what is on our mind every day. So...if a woman comes to me complaining of pain in her breast, the thought on my mind is not that I am going to touch some beautiful stuff....but that it better not be that I examine the breast and find cancer there. If a woman comes to me saying she is itching in her private part...the thought in my mind is that it is not something as serious as genital warts....which I have seen in one HIV positive woman...very scary....but that it is something innocous that we can treat.

Brother.....your problem is that you are mixing temptation with actual sin. You think that when you are tempted, you are sinning. No. Better stop worrying about how you are tempted every day. Better go and pray to God to deliver you from temptaiton, and the evil one....and go and do his will. Dont worry about sin too much. God is there to help you.

Modified....One more story

During my student days, when I was doing my O and G posting, one elegant 40 year old woman came into the gynae's office where I and five other students were. She was complaining of constant bleeding from her private part. Minute we students heard that, we just felt...bad. Examination.....she had cancer of the private part. When we left that office....all that was on our mind was "Wow...that woman is in trobule"
You have sense. Don't mind these legalists.

This is a sensitive topic. As a Christian, my personal opinion remains that it is very wrong for a male believer to be a gynecologist

1) Examining the breast of a woman that is not your wife as a heterosexual male is wrong
2) Examining the private parts of a female that isn't your wife is totally wrong
3) Some male doctors develop feelings for their patients and vice versa
4) Our sight is a gateway to temptation
5) If a woman examines the private parts of a male patient how will he feel, assuming he has a wife, how will she feel?

I can go on but let me stop here, it is wrong and no religions supports it

what of nurses in the hospital...
do you know that nurses holds man dick and shave hair before surgery or treat naked men everyday
ask any girl that works in hospital as nurse, they have seen and touch different types of dicks.
I was discussing with a female nurse about the way they feel when they see man dick but she told me that when she started as a nurse she get arouse but she outgrown it. She sees and touch many dicks but she now feels as if she touches normal human body

Op, being in the medical profession is service to humanity, a selfless work. Reason they ain't that rich. Some factors has maligned the service especially here in Nigeria. There's nothing wrong with a born again Christian being a Medical Doctor. It's about saving lives.
Did you read OP well? Its not about being Medical Doctors but Gynaecologists!

A gynaecologist is a medical doctor who specialises in treating women especially on sexual reproduction. As part of his/her job, he/she has to look at the unclothedness of women repeatedly and occasionally fumble with (sensitive) parts of their bodies. A born again Christian who hopes to make it to heaven and see God must be pure in heart (Matthew 5:cool and holy in conduct (Hebrews 12:14). Should a born again Christian who is a boy/man study or practise gynaecology as a profession?
Should a born again lady who is transformed by salvation in Christ be a urologist who mainly handle penis and check men's anal canal?

Let believers be guided by the scriptures as well as by knowledge.

The human brain works in such a way that one activity shuts down one's focus on another.

Notwithstanding, knowledge is no match for emotion.

Therefore, those who naturally are easily beset by sexual temptations should let nature tutor them on drawing the line on this issue.

They shouldn't practice gynaecology.
What gives you the idea that knowledge is no match for emotions? Just prove it.

Even our so called men of God/apostles are now on rampage talk more of “ordinary" doctors.
Oh! So your men of God are extraordinary while we doctors are ordinary. Infact, from now, advice ANY of your Christian family members or friends to pay your men of God visits when next they come down with syphilis.

I expected this from one of the atteists. However, if actually you read my thread and have no problem with comprehension, you will realise that this is not about any part of the body being evil. Every part of our body is good just like God Who made it but some parts are more sacred and naturally kept secretive (at least from the opposite sex) whether by Christians, Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus, moralists, traditionalists, pagans, agonists, free thinkers, or the irreligious/atteists. It appears you have a beef with religious people and just looking for the slightest opportunity to attack what we stand for albeit with your nonsensical contradiction. I am particular about the born again Christians because we seriously believe and preach about life after death, the need for repentance/salvation from sin and purity of heart and life as a precondition to avoid eternal damnation in hell fire and enjoy eternal bliss after this brief life. Back to topic. Is it proper for a born again Christian to study to become a gynaecologist or to practise such as a profession? Will such a one be pure and heaven-bound? Is such a person not in danger of eternal perdition?

grin I see some people making reference to Islam on this issue, we'll this is what Islamic law says

Gynecology as a career choice for
men
Question
I am a doctor, and recently after
finding that general surgery is
saturated enough, I thought about
specializing in gynecology and
obstetrics. I have passed the first
part of the exam as well and may
start the residency in gynecology
after some time. Is it permissible
for me to specialize and practice
gynecology as a male doctor?
Answered by
Sheikh `Abd al-Rahmân al-Jar`î,
professor at King Khâlid University
in Abhâ
Generally, gynecology should be
undertaken by women. Islamic
societies should endeavor to
ensure that there is a sufficient
number of qualified female doctors
to fulfill the gynecological needs of
all the women in society.
In your case, if these duties could
be assumed by the female doctors,
preferably Muslims, male doctors
may not undertake this profession
due to considerations of Islamic
Law relating to male-female
interaction and exposure of female
body parts to members of the
opposite sex.
In case of a dire need for male
doctors along with the failure of
female doctors to fulfill this
vacancy, it becomes lawful for
male doctors to undertake such a
profession for dire need and
necessity only. Attention should be
paid that such a doctor should be a
good and pious Muslim who has
good manners and is worthy of the
people’s trust.
Nevertheless, there should be a
concerted and persistent public
effort to educate a sufficient
number of female doctors to fulfill
society's needs.
Since the permissibility of men
working in this field is contingent
on dire necessity, it ends as soon
as that necessity no longer exits. It
may not be a wise career decision
to devote your time, expense, and
effort to specializing in a field that
you may not be able to engage in
over the long run. Whenever there
are sufficient female doctors to do
the job, it will become unlawful for
male doctors to continue to
practice.
And Allah knows best.

I quite understand you ma. But the issue is not about the woman being attended to. It is not even about every male gynaecologist. It is about the born again practising the profession. Is it not harmful and detrimental to his purity and heaven worthiness? I think the people that should answer this question are Christian male doctors and other concerned and purity-loving believers. I think this is the siliest nonsense I've read in a long while. I expect that educated posts should be put up on nairaland and not gibberish.
Its only.one who has a warped mind that would think this up.I'm a christain and I see nothing wrong with a man been a gynecologist, that's like saying that a woman can't be a doctor and attend to male patients.
What if you were a surgeon and had to perform a breast removal on a cancer patient, does that.mean you would ogle every female you come in contact with.
Please, remove your sinful mind from such thoughts and face God. Been born again has nothing to do with your job.and a good "born again" (whatever that means) will face his work and do it for the Glory of God .

The reason why this thread is taken too seriously is just because of our "holy holy" mentality. Okay what is bad about it?... Did the bible mention anywhere that male physician should attend to males and females to females... the essence of the job is to save lives and bring forth new life, so why should it be a sin if a male physician attends to a female... ( our GOD is a 100% good GOD) We all should really trash out this mentality and start seeing things for the good of it and not trying to nurture bad ideas about it. And who said Christianity is a religion? (it is a manifestation of our lord " the father" through Christ the son, the holy spirit, amen).

one problem i have with religion and and their ridiculous ideas - they have succeeded in putting an inherent assumption of inherent evil on a particular part of the body or organ.

what is so evil about the vagina or penis - nothing.

the vagina or penis is no more evil than any other part of the body but from ludicrous religious dogmas and doctrines these parts of the human anatomy are dubbed intently evil, unclean and sinful - forgetting the same God that they worship allegedly were supposed to also be the creator of these parts of the body.

if any part of the human body is evil the the source from which these organs comes from must be evil too, so if the vagina is evil and you say God created it - then literally you are making God evil.

let us be clear here, no part of the human body is evil in the slightest nature, so unless Op somehow you dub these organs evil in some way and at the same time faulting your God then probably to you it should be wrong for christian man to be a Gyno.

but if you see these organs just as any other part of the body like any sane human should then surely enough there is no reason to condemn dentist and likewise a Gyno.

religious people spend the greater part of their life worrying over imaginary sins that they end up having not lived at all.
Read again! @OP, never said any part of human body is evil.
