Have you tried CakePhp 3?
Instead of going the CodeIgniter path, I will suggest you try Laravel undecided because you will want to migrate to Laravel after learning CI.
You are very much on point. As much as I love codigniter, i only use it for extremely light stuffs, and find it unusable for large-scale things.

But i have something that works better for me - in fact tailor-made for me - that has features of codigniter, laravel, and even wordpress etc but i wont share that JOKER yet - for it is not yet time

You are distracting the thread, but here is the deal, magento has minimal installation requirements (depending on the version you are installing). If you click those read show details, you will see it.
But generally, it works on PHP 5.6 and above (i dont think it works in 7.0.1 but might work in 7.1 i am not sure) - show details will help here.
Then there are extensions that you need to have installed on your PHP e.g. mcrypt and some others - again show details will clarify this.

When you have completed all this, that is when magento will work for you.

See here for installation requirements - http://docs.magento.com/m1/ce/user_guide/magento/system-requirements.html

Maybe. Maybe not. Within a week, i got 2 job offers asking me if i know Laravel. The composer config issues gets me everytime. CodeIgniter needs little or no configuration to get it to work. I believe CodeIgniter makes it easy to enter the world of MVC and frameworks for a PHP Dev, one can then move up to Laravel afterwards. Well, thats just my experience.

It will only get you into Framework if you are just learning framework, but when you are deploying an enterprise solution CI is a NO! NO!! NO!!!
CI happens to my earliest framework but once I discovered the power of CakePHP and Laravel I left CI for Good wink

This is what I was arguing with some guys on Facebook just now. CI is not meant for high level work. Fine it is easy to use, and is a good thing to get started with MVC framework, yes, but it stops there.
Many of the things that will require third party stuffs in CI, you will find freely availabe in Laravel and CAKE. Ordinary authentication does not come with CI - you need third party.
