Is Water Baptism Really Important? by PetrePan(m): 10:13am On Mar 26, 2017
I'm not a bible scholar or know much bible verse and i may make bible reference without verses..

The question is 'is water baptism really necessary to fufil all righteousness?'..

There are great men in the bible that are righteous and didnt do baptism(e.g abraham, enoch was righteous that he didnt even die,job etc)..Peter also said that 'be baptize in the name of holyspirit...'

And jesus christ also did baptism b4 starting his ministry..

So the question are:do we need water baptism before we are save?..if i dont have water baptism,am i still a devoted christian?..if i dont have water baptism,we i still make heaven?..so many question to ask buh will stop there..

I'm sure all those men i mentioned up there are sure in heaven(and they didnt do baptism)...
Pls,i need answers..

First of all let's ask ourselves why did Jesus let John to baptize him?

Water baptism is an ancient practice long before Christianity that signifies rebirth. The Egyptians used the water from the nile to "purify" new born babies or a way to initiate new converts into secret cults. A way to be born into a new way of life. Christianity obviously adopted all these pagan ways of life, including " sun - day" worship of the Sun

to fulfill the scriptures.. The great commission in the acts of the apostles had charged the disciples to baptize all Christians.. So we are living in accordance with the scriptures.

that was before the coming of Jesus na. Remember the apostles asked Jesus with all these strict laws it would be difficult for people to make heaven and what was jesus's reply.. Many will come from east and west and dine with father Abraham on d coming of him.. And he added dat with God all things are possible...

Yes it is necessary for it to be done by water.. But in some occassions , the catholic church has other methods of baptism in case water is not present

The Baptism of Jesus involved water, if it wasn't important it would not have been involved.

According to the Bible, the symbolism of baptism
declares that three things happen to believers who are
baptized: (1) they die with Christ to their old self; (2) they
rise with Christ to become a new creature; and (3) they
are incorporated in their new life with a living community
which looks for the coming of the Lord (Romans 6:1-11).
Contrary to what some denominations teach, it seems
obvious that a Christian's baptism must necessarily
require a responsible decision to accept Jesus Christ as
Savior and Lord, and therefore, must be delayed until an
age of reason or discretion (knowing right from wrong
within God's perspective).

Jesus is the author and our faith as Christians, hence it is imperative we do what he did and commanded us

The simplest answer to this question is found in the meaning of the word 'baptize.' It comes from a Greek word which means 'to submerge in water.' Therefore, baptism by sprinkling or by pouring is an oxymoron, something that is self-contradictory. Baptism by sprinkling would mean 'submerging someone in water by sprinkling water on them.' Baptism, by its inherent definition, must be an act of immersion in water

Baptism illustrates a believer's identification with Christ's death, burial, and resurrection. 'Or don't you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life' (Romans 6:3-4). The action of being immersed in the water pictures dying and being buried with Christ. The action of coming out of the water illustrates Christ's resurrection. As a result, baptism by immersion is the only method of baptism which illustrates being buried with Christ and being raised with Him. Baptism by sprinkling and/or pouring came into practice as a result of the unbiblical practice of infant baptism.

Baptism is a picture of our leaving our old life and becoming a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17). Baptism by immersion is the only mode that fully illustrates this radical change.
