Well this is the plight of all civil servants, not just the police. But Nigerians always believe they are over paid. The truth is that with this type of pay scale, there is no way a public servant won't see opportunity and not be corrupt. Imagine the ridiculous pay from which they will pay rent, kid school fees, medicals, transport etc If the IG of police pay is Wayyyyyy too poor. Considering the amount of years u would have invested to get to that point |

| Re: Nigerian Police Rank And Salary by Nobody: 7:32am On Mar 27, 2017 |
No wonder the low ranking officers behave like animals....This salary alone is enough to piss one off and then they have a gun? Mtcheewwww......The salary is dehumanizing to say the least!!! As a matter of fact, every Nigerian citizen should always contribute and give the police money without them begging for it!!! This is appalling!!! |

| Re: Nigerian Police Rank And Salary by davereal(m): 7:39am On Mar 27, 2017 |
This is so bad and dehumanizing to me. From the recruits to the Sergeants, their salaries structures needs to be looked into if we want police to be our friend as well as have a good police system that is efficient, effective and professional. |

| Re: Nigerian Police Rank And Salary by Trybes(m): 7:43am On Mar 27, 2017 |
That must be a big error paying recruit 9k for a whole month. Some of them have wife and children. How can they survive. Some chain smokers spend more than that on smoking alone in a month |
| Re: Nigerian Police Rank And Salary by dman4real: 7:43am On Mar 27, 2017 |
this scheme seem to have typing error because you cannot imagine that a constable on grade level 10 is collecting #51.113.59 and a sergeant Who is ahead of the constable with 3 ranks or 4 on grade level 05(step 10) is receiving #55.973.84 which shows that the different in their salaries is just #4.86. Secondly, what criteria are they using to pay their personnels? is it on grade levels or ranks or steps? |
| Re: Nigerian Police Rank And Salary by sisisioge: 7:44am On Mar 27, 2017 |
No wonder, they behave like hyenas on the road. Why would anyone who tends to risk his life be paid this ridiculous amount of money! Train them well and pay them well! Jeez! |
| Re: Nigerian Police Rank And Salary by Ahmadgani(m): 7:45am On Mar 27, 2017 |
Those who put their lives on the line recieve peanuts while those who snore recieve large sum |
| Re: Nigerian Police Rank And Salary by Folksyharry(m): 7:46am On Mar 27, 2017 |
This pay is too small na. How can a recruit be receiving 9k monthly? These salaries should be increased. It's just too small. I was even expecting the lowest to be about 30k. |

| Re: Nigerian Police Rank And Salary by ybalogs(m): 7:54am On Mar 27, 2017 |
This can't be real but if it is, it'll be really hard to stop these men in black from being corrupt as that's the only way to augment their salary. With the risks involved? Haba, quite unfair. |
| Re: Nigerian Police Rank And Salary by daroz(m): 7:55am On Mar 27, 2017 |
I am just an Associate in a big private company in Germany, just few years in the job and my salary is already much more bigger than that of the a whole Inspector General of Police in nigeria(with the current exchange rate). Na wa o. See levels, Thank you Jesus. ![]() But I doubt this figures shall. |
| Re: Nigerian Police Rank And Salary by Leader01(m): 7:59am On Mar 27, 2017 |
Hmmmmm. I doubt it. The grade levels you posted here are contradicting. You even include grade level 11, there is nothing like grade level 11 in cilvil service and public service |
| Re: Nigerian Police Rank And Salary by Nobody: 8:03am On Mar 27, 2017 |
Epositive:you should know that Op is wrong on that.is he saying a recruit earns less than the government approved minimum wage?even petrol station attendants earn more than that.that data is wrong |
| Re: Nigerian Police Rank And Salary by Nobody: 8:03am On Mar 27, 2017 |
nwakibie3:Apart from bonuses and allowances their salary can't be that low.A whole commissioner collecting 700k,lowest rank collecting 9k.oga think na.okay what's the minimum wage in Nigeria? Federal government are paying the military and para military very well.Do you know that they do pay cadets? In Nigeria defence academy 1st year cadet are paid 28k while in Nigeria police academy 1st year cadets are paid 22k. Op does not know what he's saying. Take it or leave it "That can never be the Nigerian police salary structure". |
