Nigerian football clubs must take a bold step to creatively unlock the opportunities staring at them else they'll continue to sing the same boring songs.

While most clubs are engrossed with excuses from obvious challenges to run a business in Nigeria, they have also turned their back at amazing opportunities begging for attention.
Fan Base, A Huge Income Source Yet To Be Tapped By Nigerian Clubs

With focus on the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), eighteen clubs are owned by state government while two are privately owned. There hasn't been a major difference in the way these clubs are managed by both types of owners. Fact is - they both get funding from a source yet make nothing in return.

While the interest for local football is constant, clubs have intentionally distant themselves from the fans who will gladly jump at offers if these clubs throw some at them. Clubs have not done enough to establish a link between 'the club and the fan'. Probably lack of transparency and accountability could be a big reason why the government owned clubs haven't done so much in this regard.

But what about the private owned clubs? Aren't they accountable too? Is the sponsor of these private owned clubs not bothered about growth? On the average, a club in the NPFL spends around N10m each month for eight months yet the proprietor feels so good to keep spending? What will happen to the club if the sponsor dies?

Fan base income source

Investors/partners/sponsors don't joke with numbers and that's what a structured fan base offers. It gives these clubs the power to bargain and to create more income source.

If a club seeking for a shirt sponsor can prove .... continue here - http://www.footyalert.com/2016/10/fan-base-huge-income-source-yet-to-be.html

Please who are the top Keepers in the NPFL this season?

Femi Thomas is now a backup to a very old Sunday Rotimi.

Okiemute Odah & Theophilus Afelokhai are not as good as they were a few seasons ago.

I have seen a few games in which the following teams were in action Akwa United, MFM, Rangers, Pillars & Remo Stars & I've not seen a performance from a keeper that I can say should get a shot in the Super Eagles.

I say this in the light of Akpeyi's shaky performances, Ikeme's injuries & Enyeama's reluctance to end his retirement.

I just don't believe Ezenwa is the best in the league.

It's not their faults, it is due to the fact that governments feed them every now and then. Look at MFM FC now, club's principal, Dr D. K Olukoya, always advertises the club to the church members, either to attend the matches or buy the jerseys. That way, they can get more revenues to run the club.

Ifeanyi Ubah FC is also trying to sell the club to their fans too and that is one of the reasons why I want the governments to privatise these clubs and let's see how things will change.

Ifeanyi Ubah is doing so much. The edifice he's putting up in Nnewi can sustain the club.

The npfl feeder league is upgrading big time and in fact it is developing at a faster rate compared to the Npfl itself. Away wins are regular in the NNL with no controversy

NNL SEAL HISTORIC DEAL
The blitz sponsorship drive by the Nigeria National League, NNL,has finally yielded dividend, with the “Most Important” League sealing a three year multi-million Naira deal with top ranked Sports betting company ,BET9A in Lagos.
An obviously elated Chief Operating Officer,CEO of the NNL, Honourable Bukola Olopade said the deal which is a major one will definitely help in the rebranding effort of the NNL’s new board.
“It is a done deal ,we are happy about this development ,we can now say it is a new League,it will now be known as BET9A Nigeria National League “
“We are indeed excited, this will catapult us to a higher pedestal,it is a good deal, this was a League with a zero percentage of property to hold on to”
“We are not resting on our oars, however,in the next couple of weeks we hoping to have Startimes and an oil company come in, we are hoping for more, i can say there is a great future for the Nigeria National League”
Bukola Olopade who was a former commissioner for Sports in Ogun State also expressed delight at the progress made so far in the 2017 NNL season.
“It is worthy to note that we are extremely doing well with the outcome of the League so far ,we have recorded impressively away wins and draws ,these are positives to take from the new NNL, Olopade concluded.

Maybe this can help. If the outstanding keepers can be rated based on their number of clean sheets in as many matches played.

of all only Afelokhai, Emmaneul fabiyi, Olorunleke ojo and Dele Ajiboye have good reputation as great Goalkeepers in the the league. there is Femi Thomas, Mfm's Ospino Ogbe to is gradually gaining some reputation with his performances recently

For me the two above does it. Also as at last season the goal keeper of Wikki Tourists was Superb, I don't just know what's happening to the team right now. they are just capsizing...

Thanks a lot for this.

I have seen George Michael this season. Nothing exceptional.

Olorunleke Ojo looked shaky in the U-20s. He may however be improving if he was very young in Manu Garba's team. I'll keep an eye out for him.

Afelokhai was in Pillars for a long time. Unless he has improved a whole lot, I'm not sure he is Super Eagles (not CHAN eagles O!) material.

Ajiboye has not grown (height wise) from the U-17 days. Not holding that against him, but I'm not sure he makes the Super Eagles grade as well.

I don't really know the other keepers. I'll be on the lookout for them.

Ajiboye's reflexes is top notch just like Ayenuba of Enyimba back then. Very sharp with good eyes, so it makes up for his height.

Mustapha Aliko has been fantastic for me this season. His saves has earned valuable points on the road for Niger Tornadoes. He covers well in one on one, ariel balls and crosses aren't a big worry for him and i like the way he communicates with his back line. He's done six clean sheet already as at week 17.

I will always give it to Sunshine Stars' Ojo Olorunleke any day, any time, though he didn't have the best of performances at the U20 under Manu Garba but that may rub-off as probably one of those off days considering what he has done at Giwa and currently doing at Sunshine Stars. He is good option for the national team selector. He's got the height, the experience and confidence needed to man the sticks. He was the first choice at Giwa and he helped the Jos Elelphants twice to a forth place finish in their first two seasons in the top flight. Set piece, crosses aren't a worry with Olorunleke, he's good at penalties (he saved two penalties in a match this season in Nnewi). He looks quiet but he coordinates his defense very well. and I think he's doen six clean sheets as well.

I would have loved to pick Dele Ajiboye but his tricks and anctics at wasting time during a match pisses me off. He's good but he's got to realize that there isn't space for his antics in modern football.

May I also mention Enyimba's Theophilus Afelokhai and Kano Pillars Isah Danlad.

Afelokhai has done well this term at Enyimba same as Isah Danladi whose young brother, a goalkeeper at Delta Force is also doing well for himself.
