If the load at the end of a sonometer wire is immersed in a bucket of water, the original fundamental frequency of the wire could be
restored by
A. decrease the length of the wire
B. increasing the length of the wire
C. increasing the mass per unit length of the wire
D. changing the temperature of the wire

Break down the formula

*F is inversely proportional to the square root of mass
*F is also inversely proportional to length.

If we deep the load(mass) in a bucket of water the weight will reduce due to upthrust

You can either substitute figures to solve or better yet
Simple logic
If we decrease the length of the wire the frequency will increase.
How can we get our normal frequency back?
Increase the length of the wire so that the frequency will reduce to what it was before

pabostt:

Temperature difference =( linear expansivity * length)/increase in length

For metal P,

Qp = ( linear expansivity * length)p/increase in lengthp

For metal Q,

Qq = ( linear expansivity * lengthq)/increase in lengthq

( linear expansivity * length)p/increase in lengthp = ( linear expansivity * lengthq)/increase in lengthq

increase in length of p:increase lengthq = ( linear expansivity * length)p / ( linear expansivity * lengthq)

increase in length of p:increase lengthq = 2/3 *3 /4 = 6 / 12 = 1:2

A is the correct option

Comman see Moment questions grin

A man holds a 100 N load stationary in his hand. The combined weight of the forearm and hand is
20 N. The forearm is held horizontal, as shown

What is the vertical force F needed in the biceps?{cambridge may/june 2014 p11 ques 12}
A 750 N
B 800 N
C 850 N
D 900 N

A uniform plank AB of length 5.0 m and weight 200 N is placed across a stream, as shown below

A man of weight 880 N stands a distance x from end A. The ground exerts a vertical force FA on the plank at end A and a vertical force FB on the plank at end B.
As the man moves along the plank, the plank is always in equilibrium.The man stands a distance x = 0.50 m from end A. Use the principle of moments to
calculate the magnitude of FB.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has discovered a major error on all Registrations so far, and has finally resolved to cancel the 2017 UTME, slated to hold from 6th May.

The decision was reached in the early hours of today, after it was detected that the PASSPORTS of candidates were omitted by a system virus while registration data was being uploaded since 20th March, 2017.
.
....
All efforts to recover uploaded passports proved futile, thereby resolving to cancel Registrations for the 2017 UTME entirely.

All candidates are by this notice, expected to note the following;

1. #NaJokeBeThis
2. #TodayIs1stApril
3. #AprilFoolsDay
4. #YouThoughtWeForgot

FOR your O'Level, you should try and get 'Comprehensive Certificate Physics' by Olumuyiwa Awe and O. O. Okunola.

By far, one of the best Physics textbook in terms of their clear, understandable and numerous calculations and of course, explanations and theories I've come across.

Please, I would like us to also shed light on chemistry, not only physics. And try explaining very well on topics like Light, Sound, Electricity, ..., I'm still in SS2 and I haven't covered all physics topics. Thanks.
